❤Annabelle telling Madeleine she is so small is one of my favorite scenes. Madeleine is so unforgivably cruel.

It’s like a clever callback to Flanagan’s other film adaptation, “Gerald’s Game”. I didn’t remember that until now.

@@Krueger4Eva-zt5jboh ya in court she says your much smaller then I remember
"Freddy is the *swing vote" 🤣🤣🤣 Knowing the formula, seeing the episode title, knowing the story... I was really stoked to watch 'Frauderick' get his karma 😁 What a PoS... 😅 Props to Henry Thomas for making us hate Freddy. He's the Bev Keane of House of Usher for sure.

Never caught onto that before. Hilarious.
And so we have gathered all the colors of the rainbow. Prospero was basking in red during his death scene, Vic was orange, Leo was yellow, Tamerlane was green, Camille was light blue/white and Frederick dark blue/purple.
This is by far my favourite performance by Henry Thomas, for someone so likeable he really does excel at playing evil characters. This episode made me realize, once again, how incredibly talented this cast is: we've seen Henry Thomas and Carla Gugino lie together before, as Hugh and Olivia in Hill House, and still you don't even think about those characters at all when you see them like that in this episode.

Agreed. He was so good as the younger Hugh Crane in THOHH and then you see him play the heinous characters like Freddie in this, the dad in _Gerald's Game_ and the bartender in _Doctor Sleep_ and he plays nasty *SO* well.

I love Henry Thomas in E.T.
You both are gonna love the finale. Fantastic monologues!
Caannot wait for you to see the finale!
The Pit and the Pendulum is my favorite Poe work. I highly recommend reading it, and the other works that these episodes are based on, once you've finished the series. I can't wait for you guys to see the finale; it's kind of perfect. 🤩
The reading of Poe's "City in the Sea" by Verna (Carla Gugino) is probably the best recorded reading of the poem. By the way, "The Pit and the Pendulum" is a poem about a man who finds himself strapped down by The Spanish Inquisition with a pendulum weighed by a large curved blade that slowly swings and ratchets itself down toward him, to slice him in half. But in the poem, the victim escapes.
If they had not made that deal, the other kids probably wouldn't have even existed.
The PatP, starring Vincent Price, always made me scared as a child. I love it!
What the other kids would have been: We don’t know for Tammy The rest of the kids would not have existed. They were all with other women out of wedlock. Rodrick would have been happily married to Anabelle Lee
Yay! Been waiting all day for this.
❤The Pit and the Pendulum is one of Poe's darkest works full of tourture, drugging a prisoner and inqusition. A perfect title for Frederick's demise. In the Poe story the pendulum is also razor sharp but the protagonist survived......just like Freddy's wife survives his torturous inquisition and drugging. This was a great episode with the collapsing building signifying the collapse of the family tree of Rodericks heirs.
The title of the episode is based on the short story of the same name.

The entire series is based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe, even the characters names are from Poe's works. The title of the series and every episode is a title of one of Edgar Allen Poe's works
Frederick's little bowling alley definitely reminded me of _There Will Be Blood._ I can't be the only one who saw parallels there.
Just wondering if Fargo is gonna be continued? Season 3 was really good
This might sound weird, but your intro music calms me down …. Love your videos guys!!!!
Moreso than reading the story, you should really watch the film with Vincent Price. It’s one of the great Poe movie adaptations.
So... let's do the finale tomorrow night. Come on, you know you want to. Or at least I do. All your questions will be answered...
My favorite episode of this series, excepting the finale. Love the turn Flanagan does on the Poe story as in the short stpry, the protagonist survives. Love Verna’s reference to the duality of her nature as she tells Freddy that she ‘could have done this anyway she wanted.’ Choice. All of the characters have had that, though all were cursed through Roderick. To a certain degree, their lives have dictated their cursed ends. So sad to hear about what Freddy might have been in another life. Great reaction from you two! Thanks 🙏🏼 City By the Sea Lo! Death has reared himself a throne In a strange city lying alone Far down within the dim West, Where the good and the bad and the worst and the best Have gone to their eternal rest.
I can't wait for you both to get to the final and see how it all comes together cause that was one hell of a way to tie things up. Any way the clues for what would happen to Freddy was done with the cat clock in the flashbacks because the eyes are swinging back and forth and so is the tail also it is a hint and the clock is a hint that in a way time is running out for him. Yes the deal that was made with Verna messed up the kid's lives and I also feel badly for them in that fact but it's more complexed than just that and you will understand in the final what I mean. I love Verna she is such a powerful creature but also still full of mystery and I like that about her character. The poam she said to Madaline is a poam written by Edger Allan Poe about death and the consenquences of choices made, she is also telling Madaline in a way that she is not good or evil she just exsists beyound time and space. She told Madaline I am not a woman which to me means she just uses this form to make people more comfterble around her..perhaps she doesn't have a human form at all who knows. I love how Annabelle stood up to Madaline in that moment and showed her true strength by telling her that Madaline is small but also she is the reason Rodrick became a changed man in a way. The part where youg Freddy gets cut in half was brutal and haunts me everytime I see it because of how well done that scene was. Grate reaction as always guys.
I guess you could see their "initial intended lifepath" as the nicest version of what they ended up doing in the most evil way. Perry could have been a good pub/bar manager, Camille may have been a great journalist, Leo a famous video game studio developer (not drugged out ceo), Victorine a good doctor and so on... Maybe ?
I am itchin for episode 8
