i like this new "walking the line" nightwing. honestly he's been presented as being too much of a good guy that it got old, seeing this and a growing rift between him and the bat family is very refreshing. you dont usually see nightwing on the other side of any conflict of batman

Have to kinda agree with Sal on Nightwing surpassing batman years ago.......Bruce allowed his grief to consume him while dick became batman fought against Gotham the joker, red hood rise his son and somehow kept his humanity throughout that entire experience and then went back to being Nightwing he's everything Bruce could never be.

oh be careful with saying that nightwing surpassed Batman, even though its true, or your going to have a bunch of fanboys going after you. They have a hard time respecting peoples opinions.

I think they are fairly different. I'm a huge fan of Nightwing but I feel like the difference is that Dick is essentially a good person and Bruce isn't, and that's what is most important here.

As a former comic collector turned father of 4, it's been a long time since comic books fit into my budget.. but my passion for the characters and stories has never changed, and your videos are my sole link to what was essentially a massive source of joy for Me from the time I was in elementary school until my early twenties. I am now 38 and trying to reconnect with these characters and I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for your channel. I'm loving what they are doing with Nightwing right now. As much as I was hoping that Rebirth was gonna be a complete restart of continuity so that they could retell some of the best stories of Batman with better continuity flow as far as timescale, it's refreshing to see them actually adding to the story of Dick Grayson, who I personally think is better than Batman overall...so the whole concept is really resonating with me. What do you think of the whole way that they break down Nightwing as a Brand Extension of Batman and sort of like a meta commentary on the series itself?

Honestly I read it myself and disagree with the idea that Dick Grayson is being corrupted. The point was that Dick isn't dark like Bruce and is able to make his own decisions without losing his judgment. The fact that Raptor was manipulating him doesn't change that. More over batman's code is fundamentally wrong in the world he lives in. Sparing criminal when you know they will escape and kill people again is messed up.

Hey Rob I LOVE your video's. I've always been a marvel fan so hearing you go over the things I was so clear on really made me happy and recently with all the CW DC shows like Arrow and Flash etc. I've become really interested in DC comics. Of course Batman and the Bat-Family are things that even if you don't read the comics the cartoons and games kinda get you up to speed on. However what I really love are all these videos on the "Less" popular characters like Green arrow and flash and green lantern (Yeah I know those aren't realllly less popular but they have less content outside of comics. ) I realize this is going on long so i'll cut to what i want to say. Thank you for doing all these videos and going into details with everything I really love it. It helps my long drives home and to work. Also I'd REALLY love to see more DC rebirth video's about the Titans and Teen Titans. I find them very interesting. Also any flash stuff is the best stuff! Anyways thank you Rob!!

in regards to what was said at the beginning of the video, I would say Nightwing is the exception to Batman's lack of trust in people. Dick Grayson is the only person batman would trust to be batman and funds all of Nightwings actions because he sees him as an equal. I would even go as far as saying that batman cars for him more then any Robin. When Dick Grayson seemingly died in forever evil, batman was very close to killing Lex Luther (a line he seemingly wouldn't cross for anyone). It was only after Luther brought him back that batman had realized what he almost did.

Poor Nightwing. He'll never get past the friend zone with Barbara G. As she's already given the Dark Knight full access to her cave. And as the saying goes, once you go Bat, you never go back.

I mean, where do you begin with the Nightwing and Batgirl romance? It's been going on for some decades now. Short version? Pre new 52 they were in an actual relationship, and we're engaged at some point. They had known each other since they were kids. In the new 52, they were only ever just friends but they always made it very clear that there was more than that. In both of their solo series they have both appeared. And usually Dick makes a speech about how much he loves Barbara and how she's the only one he wants to be with. Again, this is the short version of their relationship. They're also married in several alternate earths. If it wasn't obvious, I ship them. :)

Nevermind, didn't notice how entirely long it was and you had just covered some elements you've talked about previously in more detail. Fantastic job as usual, Rob.

First let me commend you for your wonderful reviews. I am 59 years old and do not take comics as a child's forum of entertainment. I call them graphic novels and read them as such. Adult pictorial adventure stories. Your reviews have given me much thought and allowed me to be of a better knowledge concerning what to read, what to collect and what to avoid. Your reviews of the Supersons remains my greatest discovery, tales involving Damian Wayne and Nightwing and many others. LOVE THEM! Living here in a major city, I have one of the best collections of books right here in our public library system and have been able to read many of the stories you have reviewed. My only Argument in this whole video is the fact that Grayson/Nightwing is by far the Best "Fighter" among the Robins. none of the Other "Robins" can best him in Single combat. Also If Dick "Died" it would Destroy Batman, He was ready to kill Luthor for seemingly killing him during Forever Evil.

As being one of my favorite female heroines I got totally lost with it, not knowing what the hell this new version of Koriand'r stands - is she the same from her New 52 version? Miwa Sakata that was Earth 2 Dick Grayson. Funnily enough, he got paralyzed the same way that Barbara did in the main continuity. Haven't check the rest of Earth 2 Society. But he is currently the current Earth 2 Batman despite his injury after Thomas Wayne's death in Convergence.

The funny thing is that Dick Grayson's Earth 3 counterpart is called Talon and it's completely u related.

pre new 52, Dick and Barbara knew each other since they were Batgirl and robin, they didn't start dating until they were oracle and nightwing, so they had a lot of history and knew each other for a long time, they had an on again off again relationship and they were even engaged to each other right before infinite crisis but then in one year later we found out that they broke up and it was never explained why (they wanted to kill off nightwing in infinite crisis and so they just let Dick and Barbara get engaged but since Dick didn't die they didn't actually want Dick and Barbara to get married so they didn't) and then after that they remained friends but still had feeling for each other but they never got back together after infinite crisis. in the new 52 they both had feelings for each other and they both did think about getting together but then decided against it and that's pretty much it, they never dated or anything in the new 52. I actually really liked them as a couple pre new 52, they were adorable, in the new 52, it just wasn't the same, they just didn't really work. They are one of my favorite couples though so if they really did get together in rebirth I'd be okay with that.
