I dont think they, there is a reason why they don't. They're very fearful people will die or seriously injure themselves in order to win an Oscar. Could create a lot of tragedies just because people want a piece of metal.

@Kieronic1989 I've heard this reasoning before and it's absolutely bogus. There is so many safety measures that you have to go through for any stunt and stuntpeople already die from stunts. Happened from Deadpool 2 and The Dark Knight just off the top of my head. So these people need to be honored and those after. Again lamest excuse. Ever.

A lot of stunt people and coordinators don't want an Oscar category. The reason is that it is dangerous enough already without this idea that going bigger might win you an Oscar. It has been mentioned a few times by stunt people on the Corridor Crew couch. They absolutely deserve recognition for what they do, but a competition to outdo each other with something so dangerous isn't the way.

Yeah, I felt like the honorary Oscars would be a better place for recognizing stunt men and women. Kind of like a lifetime award for a certain actor or actress, I think we just need to recognize and admire the amazing stunt work that's been done over the years.

  • @ThisIsMyFullName

You can easily fix that by describing the category as something that not only requires stunts to be big. Maybe it's more about how it looks on screen than how difficult it was to achieve. Often the great stunts aren't really noticeable because they look so real, like rolling down a set of stairs.

The Fall Guy, CHiPs, Wonder Women, Street Hawk, Airwolf, Simon & Simon, Oh my god, we were so lucky ITV bought the rights to these shows and more back then. I loved "Hooper" as well. The outfit Gosling is wearing in the opening scene (black and yellow leather) reminded me of Burts outfit in the opening scene of "Hooper". A nod from one stunt movie to another? Speaking of "nods"... in one of the fight/shootout scenes, the sound effect of "The Six Million Dollar Man"s bionic power was added, in what I can only imagine of being a nod to Lee Majors. I loved the "Fall Guy" TV series when I was a teenager. I've always been interested in the behind the scenes of movies and stunts. The end of movie credits with the extra views of the stunts was really cool. But unfortunately the story of the movie didn't interest me at all.

Raiders of the Lost Ark had just come out and that blew me away. I think Harrison Ford even narrated a television special that same year on the stunt industry. So that's a HUGE motivator for me to see this film and I'm very happy that it has turned out good (at least from most of the critics that I'm hearing from).

The Rundown is actually the only Dwayne Johnson film I enjoy. I think it's the one film he's done when he was actually the least "The Rock" in it, compared to his other films. Plus the fact that he was in a buddy comedy action film, where he is the guy constantly getting worked over and made fun of during the wacky events, helped to make it more enjoyable. Plus I think he and Sean William Scott just had REALLY good chemistry on set. The comedic timing between them, the banter, the overall tone and mood of the two of them, it felt really effortless. I could do without pretty much every other Rock film he's done, but The Rundown? Yeah that one is gold.

This movie is suppose to be a love letter to stuntmen but it's really an afterthought when the credits roll. Even as a romantic comedy they could have had a scene showing how it is to sacrifice so much for a movie and not get any of the credit.

I find that only if a movie has a grand scale do I feel compelled to experience it in a theater, whereas I used to just go to every movie that interested me. This is due to a number of factors, but is something that seems to be a prevailing trend. Will this encourage the movie industry to make more epic movies in a bid to restore the theater model? I'm waiting to see the first charging station drive-in be built.
