As a male teen in the 80s this was definitely not a "guilty pleasure" for me. I loved the show and wasn't afraid to admit it. Even in my first year of college starting in late 83 I'd go into the rec room between classes and often everyone would be watching reruns of it and loving it. The girls on the show were our age group and the scripts dealt with issues we dealt with. It's a classic!

@@mca1218 Certainly one of the more successful child star-to-adult star transitions in the industry. I am guessing Chip really looked after her daughter & made sure she stayed on the path, when quite often the parents are the ones helping their talented kids grow up too fast. At the same time, you would never guess one could go from The Facts Of Life to Living Single the way she was able to. Interesting how they cast young for Tootie, when the tradition is often to get slightly older actors who can still play young (thereby, avoiding or lowering the chances of "child star syndrome").

Even the show biz people in the audience were excited to see Lisa & Nancy hand in hand accepting the award. All the girls did a great job on the show but Blair & Jo were “it”. I can’t explain it but they could have each accepted the award solo like everyone else did but they didn’t. After, all these years it doesn’t get old. The amazing thing was they didn’t even audition together. Nancy just showed up for Season 2 and hit the ground running. Just natural talent I suppose but those two were beyond special.

Such a groundbreaking show that dealt with so many real life problems. The entire cast was absolutely amazing. It warms my heart to see after all the years they were all still so close with each other with so much love, respect, and admiration for one another. Lisa is right they just don't make shows like this anymore which is sad and shows how much this generation has changed for the worse with shows like South Park that kids are growing up on. I miss the shows like Facts of Life, Different Strokes, Three's Company, Family Matters that actually were family friendly. Lisa aka Blair Warner just doesn't age which blows my mind. This entire cast will always be a part of my family as I was made fun of growing up and was alone a lot so TV was my escape from reality and still is although not as much great programming as this is a totally different generation that has lost its morals. God bless these lovely ladies for giving me a family and a friend when I had nobody else.

Nancy saved Facts. Facts was headed for the dumpster, until Nancy ( Jo ) McKeon showed up at Eastland. Her character of Jo became a huge hit, and a great nemessis for Blair. Although I thought that the character of Blair became far and away to arrogant and conceited, to the point that it wasn't funny anymore, it was disgusting.

I continue to be amazed by Nancy and Lisa's chemistry. Since they were youngsters, they have had a closeness that is difficult to explain. I attribute a lot of the success of the series to the Jo/Blair duo. Many look for this type of electricity on the screen their entire lives. How lucky we are to have seen them for years. Facts of Life is one of the best series for me, the script was incredible in the first seasons. The comedy time of the girls and Mrs. Garrett is no longer seen today. I grew up in Peru in the 90's, but luckily, I found this show on cable. What a blessing.

The respect that these women show for their fans and each other, especially for the wonderful Charlotte Rae is amazing. The newer entertainers should take a lesson from the stars of the past who showed true gratitude towards their fans. LOVED THIS SHOWED AND ITS WONDERFUL TALENTED CAST!!

I was once involved in a charity that was selling $1000 tickets to their gala. Kim Fields couldn't make it, but sent at $1,000 donation anyway. Getting absolutely NOTHING in return- no publicity, nothing. I always remembered what a kind and classy move that was on her part. Love her.
I would like to see one more reunion show where the girls re-unite for Mrs Garrett's funeral and they could pay tribute to Charlotte Rae

Didn't they all grow up to be ladies with heart, intelligence & humility. Great show, great writers & fantastic cast.
i was so touched by Geri, even still today, disabled people are "outcasts" & ostracized by society... it's like NOBODY want's to hire, work with, seen with or talk to a disabled & especially deformed person. Wow, her character was so amazing & her personality is so moving, for her to live like that & still find humor is incredible. She overcame & conquered a huge obstacle in her life, bravo to her.

What a great show it was. All these girls, now ladies, are a class act.
This show will always have a place in my heart thank you for being a part of my childhood you ladies are my heros
