The Facts And Fiction About Your Mental Health [PRT.1] | Mental Health | Jspeaks
Dr. Paige Bentley is an “aliveness seeker” whose mission is to bring back joy, peace, and well-being in the world one individual at a time. She serves as the Director of Counseling & Well-Being Services and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She also owns a private practice that provides counseling and coaching to individuals who want to live their lives more aligned with their values and purpose. She holds a Ph.D., in Counseling & Counselor Education, is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS), EMDR certified therapist and consultant-in-training, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and Registered Yoga Teacher.
Paige is known for her energetic, playful, and heartful presence. Trained as a holistic stress management instructor by the National Wellness Institute, Paige believes that we learn and change best when we engage our whole selves - mind, body, and spirit. She uses a variety of approaches in her well-being practice, including mindfulness, play, and improv, among others. She aims to create brave spaces where her clients can curiously explore who they are, where they want to go, and what needs to happen to get there. She is a published author and invited speaker on a number of well-being topics, including applied mindfulness, flourishing, compassion, and burnout.
Prior to coming to the Medical School she served as the Associate Director/Clinical Director of Health and Counseling Services at the University of North Carolina Asheville and as Senior Mental Health Counselor at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She worked for 10 years in journalism and public relations before returning to Wake Forest for her master’s degree in counseling and to the University of North Carolina Greensboro for her Ph.D.

20:20 I'm taking it as external acknowledgement of the hurt, the pain whatever the struggle is, validates an individual that causes therapeutic and healing benefits.

She had me hooked on the first question you asked her. I would always compare my life to others as to why am I not further in life. But I’ve learned to not do that as much because every path in our lives our different and our success will come within the right time. As people say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”.

Right! We must stay in our own lane and focus on what we have going on… our personal progress and not distract ourselves with other people’s outsides/ exteriors.

She is so right, way too often we compare our inside to others outside. Guilty, I always remind myself "Comparison is the thief of joy"
