I counted six.

The dissonant waltz at 12:06 captures that moment so well. The first time I listened to it I almost cried because I am obsessed with that sort of ethos.

Progressive Technical Death Metal.. i love it

When I first heard this I felt like it was Dream Theater and Opeth mixed together. Still obsessed to this day. Easily my fav record in their catalogue, I love how proggy it sounds. I hope Michael gets better and this band comes back! Not a bad album released! Some of the best playing I have ever heard. What was cool about this album in particular is that it was technical, but you remembered all of the songs distinctively. Very hard task IMO, especially with this kind of music.

@@Xenbjorn To my knowledge, he embraced sobriety and just hasn’t focused on music recently. I know he was plagued by addiction for quite some time, given the lyrics on “In Becoming A Ghost”. Hopefully he’s doing well. I’d love another album/tour.

@@Xenbjorn I agree. Very talented songwriter and guitar player. I really hope to hear some more from him. His clean vocal passages added a lot to their sound IMO. You can definitely tell he was definitely down to push boundaries and try different things.

Been listening to metal for a big part of my life, and I have to say that this, let's say "musical collective", has one of the greatest examples of using a recurring musical theme. The riff of pt.1 returning at the end of pt.2 for that amazing rich solo (one of my all time favourites, in fact) is simply glorious. It sweeps me off my feet every time.

For me it's what follows this. The damn "Deus est mortuus, logica obtinet!" Bit is fucking GNARLY. And it sounds like it's got back up changing vocals too. The translation in English is "God is dead, logic prevails!", that Latin translation made it hit so hard.

Singing this way makes it difficult to maintain even intonation, and he counteracts this by heavily pitch correcting his vocals. It genuinely baffles me that people can stand it.

An otherwise perfect 18:00 minutes of music sullied by this corny ass piece @12:05. It will always kill me that these 3 songs could be a 10/10 (for me), if there weren't a disney villain theme song with those hamfisted lyrics woven into it.

Their earlier albums planetary duality is far better Somehow seems something lackin Vocalist sounds at times wanting to sound like black metal, David Gahan of depeche mode or some1 But i like the guitarist a beasts lol , drummer & bassist Well no offense ya , bands sometimes needs to experiment with sounds & Concepts , but thanx for your hardwork guys stil

I understand your opinion. Planetary Duality is one of the best albums ever made. The Faceless pioneered a sound that many great bands took influence from. Also their were issues in the band after Planetary Duality and writing this album. I miss this band dearly.

I'm thoroughly against the lyrical content of these songs. In all seriousness promoting atheism should be criminalized. Even O.G. liberal thinker John Locke believed there was no place in society for atheists. That being said, this is heavy metal: this is a genre of music built around aggression, discomfort, and brutality- and there is nothing more brutal than living a life separated from God aka being in Hell. The belief in the non-existence of God is Satanic. It's fucking BRUTAL, and so it has a place in heavy metal lyrics. Denying the existence of God also leads to certain metaphysical problems as well; you need to have a system of philosophical naturalism to answer the questions of how the universe came to be created and how it is sustained. All our political and moral beliefs are influenced by our metaphysical assumptions. if you have an incorrect or incoherent metaphysical system then your political and moral opinions suffer as well. For a less intellectual criticism: the song-writer comes off as a teenage edgelord who read too much Nietzsche and thinks he knows it all. I know the type, I've been there myself. It's a phase you grow out of as you live and learn. The music? Yeah, it's alright.

It is a lot to get into, but dismissing the rational investigation into how the world works, the kinds of things that are in it, and whether the assumptions we operate on are true or false (i.e. philosophy) offhand is what is truly arrogant. Humans happen to be the only mammal capable of rationality and a sense of wonder to the extent that we wish to understand things beyond filling our own bellies. Religion is necessary as that which binds us to the divine. If you wish to be cynical about God wanting a personal relationship with us then you must understand the positive effect religion has on social cohesion. Acknowledge also that the urge to devote ourselves seems hardwired- and even when traditional religion falls out of favor people will turn to grave idolatry instead (leftists with their political correctness, racism hoax, George Floyd deification, etc. acting as the new church-ladies- because you can't get rid of that mentality, you can only channel it correctly in ways that are conducive to a healthy society instead).
