the extremely rare guitar kurt cobain used to record in utero

It's finally here! The Nirvana In Utero Veleno that Kurt Cobain used to record In Utero. This guitar is rare and belonged to Steve Albini that was brought along to the recording session at Pachyderm Studio. This has been a journey building one for myself, and I'm so glad to finally share it with you all.

Cobain was so ahead of his time. I had no idea what i was hearing in 7th grade. Now at 42 i am still in awe. What an artist.

Steve still has the guitar that Kurt used and it’s available for anyone to use if you book time at his studio. I used it for all the guitar overdubs on the EP I recorded up in Chicago with Steve. Was a very cool moment for me as a huge Kurt fan. Steve said the pickups had been changed since Kurt used it but other than that it’s “the one” Kurt used

When I was in my mid teens I had a VHS copy of Nirvana Live Tonight Sold Out. Pausing over and over on the right spots I eventually figured out how to play a power chord, and that set me on my way from there. So Kurt inspired me to play guitar, I know what you mean.

Aaron... Dude I just have to say thank you for all the blood, sweat and massive amounts of cash you've put into actually decoding/demystifying Kurt's various guitar sounds over the years. You have single handedly done more to bring that knowledge to all of us. Fucking incredible work from the a-symmetric distortion of the quad with a missing tube to actually building the secret guitars of In Utero… There is no one else even close to what you've done. I've always wanted an aluminum guitar since hearing Buzz, SunnO)) and Albini! You did an amazing job building your own. Selling some of them is an incredible idea and will make people who would never get to play, much less see one a reality! I've always wanted to make a jaguar or mosrite shaped one as they're my 2 fav body shapes. Hopefully, someday I'll have the money to do my own or buy one from you. Anyway, great work, bro! Dont stop living the dream, homie!

Dang it would be wild if you made the headstock a “U” shape (instead of “V”) and called it the “Utero” still paying homage but incorporating that otherworldly “UFO” feel that it embodies. Truly incredible job you did on this, it’s a work of art

Though I definitely agree you should move onto different guitar tones and I would absolutely come back to watch those, you have definitely solidified yourself as THE channel to go to for guitarists who want to achieve the Nirvana tone, especially the In Utero-era tone. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication you put into these videos, I’m sure I’m not the only one who really appreciates it!

Your videos on this tone chasing journey are so... personal. It's so cool to see someone relentlessly chase after something that a good majority of people would just shirk off or move on from. Whatever you're doing next, I'm here for it.

Thanks! As a mega die hard Nirvana fan you have done the fans a labor of love that we can't repay with all the tone videos! I can't wait to see the guitars go on sale as well. I know that Kurt was a huge factor in me picking up the guitar and you doing all these sweet videos has made it even more special playing along to them. Thanks again for all your hard work on them!

Your first video of this "tone-chase" was randomly brought up in my recommendations only a few days after uploading and I watched EVERY single video since then. I am absolutetely obsessed with that tone and watching you not only recreating but also making the tone available for others is so awesome! Your video production is insane as well. I like to come back to some of your video intros just to vibe with the music. If you ever plan to release your original music in that style and with that sound, I am absolutely down for that!!! Thank you so fxcking much Aaron for your hard work, dedication, motivation and just overall for everything you put into that. It has brought me so much joy and I am more than happy to hear that you will continue to make videos after this journey. Stay strong, King! <3<3<3
