Only 3 or 4 years old, best not jump to conclusions WITHIN THE FACTORY WARRANTY PERIOD

Front bezels were also changed for 2020-2021. Rear sway bars were also changed from 20mm to 19mm in 2017 or 2018.

I have a 2014 wrx with a 2015 sti steering rack and that jawn nice af. Feels like it should have come with it from factory.

enjoyed your vid-nice job. You should have expanded a bit more on the 19-21 years though (type ra block, revised ecu tune, revised intake, & type ra's cat back). The 19-21 years will be sought after in the years to come imho.

Facelift/Series 2 has slightly different interior trim colouring too, along with thicker door glass+foam filled beam around windshield for lower noise. The front of the car was tweaked for better frontal collision performance. Cluster markings are different too.

Had a 2019 WRX and exentually traded for my 2021 STI. Not the fastest but def makes me smile every time i drive it

I’m proud owner of my 2018 sti daily driver love that beast

baderbuilt and remmysti both busted this myth that the RA short block is nothing special, but did a comparison that the piston skirts are bigger and better support for the wrist pins but still having Ringland failures.

was waiting for the mention of s207 s208 and s209. But still, a good video showcasing the VA generation.

Buddy just a small correction, the rear axle/suspension setup is multi link, not double wishbone. You can actually see all the “links” in that picture in the vid :)

Nice video, another observation is that the interior trim went from a carbon fiber look, to gloss black in the 2018 facelift.

15-16 the rear view screen was in the little dash monitor. 17+ the screen is the multimedia display

4:00 not in Australia it didn't. Still got the same engine as previously. No RA block upgrade for us :(

Wish I never sold my 2019 spec R but damn was it slow even after I tuned it, have a 2007 sti now and it feels like an absoloute rocket

Proud owner of wrx 2015 it is a fun car never fail on nothing FA engine

just a personal note for the head unit, I loved my 2017 sti's head unit and wish my 2020 had the same. dunno why but I never had a bluetooth issue with the 17, same phone and everything. other then that no other problems

@carswithsepp Ya it's inconsistent, sometimes it just drops and you have to close Spotify and reopen it to work. The 17 never had this issue. I thought it was my phone but i haven't got a new one yet so i dunno

2019+, the upgraded pistons is what ultimately remedied the ringland failure that plagued all 2004-2018 sti. (Excluding 2018 type RA since it has the same engine).

I have a 2019 WRX STi, how can I tell if I have a early model or later? I know the door panel will tell me, but how can I tell with the changes from 18-19 years?

Bilstein shocks were standard on the top trim in Canada for 2021 STi

18-21 sti brakes are mono block front and rear too

Proud ex-owner of a 2017 STI. after getting walked by a granny in a 2003 v6 camry merging on a freeway. That was my last straw, traded it for an 2018 F80 M3 Comp.

Regret not getting one when I had the chance.

The STI motor in stock form even the RA is still weak cat pistons. Now the trans is bullet proof for sure. The RA has slightly thicker skirting but for those wanting to make a lot of power go closed deck with forged internals.

2019 up, the synchros are weaing way faster than they should. especially 4th gear.

I got a 19 new .. sold it and got a 21 brand new

Had a 15 stock… loved the car but had problem after problem….some of it covered under warranty. -ac went out 3x -Steering rack failed n leaked 2x -oil control valve (2x) All this before 75000 After 75000 at about 90000 Head gasket blew Clutch master cylinder fail Last straw was oil leak at about 100000 08 hatch sti heavily modified -cosmetic issue wheel wells -electrical short Half the problems of 15sti; -Ac failed -misfires cylinder 1 &3 -Rod fail led to blown head gasket eventually

My 2021 came with Bilstein suspension

Should I get a 2019 Sti just because it’s the last sti, or should I get the new vb wrx just because it’s the best engine wrx ever get ?

Personally, I would choose the one you would enjoy owning more. I believe the VB WRX has a lot of good performance for the money, and it many ways outclasses the STI, but the VB WRX will be around for awhile with new models coming for the next few years. Whereas the STI is in limited supply now, and good condition ones getting rarer and rarer. They will increase in price in significantly over time and be gems for those who were able to buy one in the next couple years. Just my opinion tho! Either way, both are great options.

I have a 2018 limited STI. It has the upgraded recaros, push button start, etc etc, but I don't have the rain sensing wipers or the lane detection, reverse warning and there's nothing in my side view mirrors. Are you sure this safety tech isn't an upgrade package?

Sadly, the last generation of the STI that looks good. The new VB only looks good on the wagon/Levorg and in dark colours.

Type RA engine is not that much better then the regular EJ257, I would say 2018 to 2021 Limited fully loaded are the best ones, all the rest you can add or modify easy, I even seen people that actually like the front from 2015. For me was really important to have white red odometer 😅

Ej25 is garbage the only sti ill consider owning is the jdm ej20.

Too much sti this and sti that . I’d like to see this same sort of thing but with the wrx . Great video though 😊

@@MsAkmc False. While the s209 sand Type RA sure are special. Overall the original STi models are exactly what they were intended to be. Detuned production versions of the race spec car which is required by the FIA/Rally organizations. The STI trans, DCCD, Brembos, and much more are a homage to its big brother rally car. None of which are available on the WRX. STi’s are cars you’ll see modified on track and rally courses. The S209 and RAs models are typically collectors cars and owners are hesitant to actually use them recklessly.
