The evolution of the razor

Once upon a time, the barber shop was the only place where a man could have his facial hair trimmed. Today's shaving gear represents quite an advancement over the razors and methods of old. Mo Rocca reports on the technological advances in getting an ever-closer shave.

Hilarious this video was Gillette. Gillette has actually taken shaving backwards. They don't even make the great DE razors they used to make anymore. Instead they use these terrible cheap but expensive cartridge razors to maximize their profits. Using a DE safety razor gives you the best shave with no clogging or razor burn. Get yourself a good shave soap, blade, and razor that's all it takes. Get yourself a Rockwell 6c and start wet shaving.

So this video raises an issue. There is a movement for shaving with a straight edge razor. Much of the motivation is because people shaved that way in the good old days. However if the reality is that people back then went to a barbershop to get their (straight edge) shave rather than shaving themselves then at least in part this shaving movement is based on a fantasy.
