"The two had beef" is actually a myth. Jerma said on stream a year or so a go that it's not the case and that Star was an incredible person, they just had different scopes to go after. Star_ said something similar, that Jerma is the funniest man he's ever known and that there wasn't really any issues between them. The false myth comes from a misunderstanding they had from a DnD session, but it happened around the time they split onto doing different things. They never hated each other, and didn't split because of DnD lol.

  • @Halaa_

I remember specifically people thought they hated each other for about a year but the reality was that they had a collab stream which just kept getting delayed so them having beef was just the excuse they came up with. One of the sterma moments of all time

Not only was there not a "beef", they settled it off stream and then pretended to still hate each other so they could do a bit where they made up on a livestream but had to delay it for almost a year so they kept up the act for way, way longer than expected.

I do wish you had spoken about the animation side of the Tf2 community a bit more. Legends like kitty0706 Helped keep the game not just relevant but close as a community. So many Tf2 animations from GMOD to Sfm to hand drawn and everything else. You could even argue that the Meet the team videos are part of Tf2 KZread. Hell, this year a feature length SFM movie was released about Tf2.

I only started playing TF2 a couple years ago. Been through the rage days and the extremely good days. This community has a lot of heart. Every essay, every animation, every gameplay video has something special about it. Yes things have been done over and over again, but it's different every time. There are some awesome people out there, and more often than not, they crush the bad side of the community. I too hope to bring something new into this crazy group.

People are mentioning other creators and genres not covered in the video and I think clip based channels like Delfy and NISLT also deserve a shoutout. While other channels showed personal gameplay, video essays, or animation, these guys perfectly show off the day to day hijinks of the game. From silly trolls finding a weird and broken exploit to just showing off fun clips of skilled players, dumb players, or seemingly once-in-a-lifetime mishaps, these guys allowed us to with each other and at each other and at our favorite whacky 15 year old war-themed hat simulator. Jerma and ster never had beef really, they had a little misunderstanding after a DnD game but there wasn't any real animosity between them, jerma just thought it was a good time to pull a joke because some people actually thought they had a fight. I remember this really emotional ster stream once they finally pulled up the joke after years of their fake feud. He mentioned how mean some people where to him because "jerma couldn't be the bad one" or someone like that so a lot of folks went after him. They purposely forget because, Star interest started to wane with the lack of support & content TF2 was getting. Like many other creators. There also the fact that Star wanted branch out a bit to make different content aside from the usual TF2 videos. So he would put crazy effort into some videos that sadly would receive much attention compared with to TF2. Now you got this bucket of Chucknuts doing the whole “Jerma doing way better than Ster” routine. All without even checking/updating himself on anything they do. People don’t want respect their friendship all because he Star “left TF2” all those years ago.

An amazing video as always! For me, I think the future of TF2 KZread lies in storytelling. You can already see it now- the challenge videos you talked about are less about the challenge and more about the story the creator has to tell about it. That's exactly why people enjoyed the Bing Soy video so much. It really had nothing to do with TF2, it just happened to be where the story takes place. As long as people have stories to tell about the game, I think it will continue to live.

Shibby even actually help promote Star when he just started off. And I still remember Shibby threw a little shade towards Icy for disappearing out of the blue. Obviously Star and Jerma became the biggest that we know of early on, but Shibby and Icytoonie were early pioneers of the TF2 commentary for KZread. Also small correction, but Jerma and Ster didn't have that big of a fallout. Turned out to be very small and they were actually friends again pretty fast. Jerma did this big live meet up thing with Star too when things seemed quiet between them, it was a big surprise for the community.

But you left out the whole Gmod/SFM side of the community which was also huge back in the day and still lives on, I've even seen some people commenting on how they never played TF2 but watch those videos because they like the characters, and in my case, the video that really got me interested in playing TF2 at all was Kitty0706's "Team Fabulous 2" Anyways, I don't think neither TF2 nor it's community is going anywhere anytime soon, we still get new TF2 content everyday and it generates a lot of engagement, from the "TF2 Funny moments" types of videos to TF2 animated videos by channels like Eltorro, STBlackST, ceno0, Fortress Films and so many others. Hell, even my channel saw pretty decent growth in the last months and I've just started, the TF2 community is alive and vibrant m8, if Valve decided to actually care for this game it would easily give Overwatch, Fortnite and other cartoony wacky shooters a run for their money.

I know, many people have been going "why would muselk change his content from TF2?!" and "WHY WOULD HE CHANGE HIS CONTENT, I miss the old muselk man..." but honestly, when he began to play overwatch and became a "variety content" youtuber, i was quite happy for him, as he has changed to try and play and record more of what he really wanted to post and what could be popular these days... and i understand that he had tried TF2 and commented on what the state of it is, but im just really glad that he had stopped playing and changed so he didnt fall into the whole "TFTUBER" and forced to play the game... thanks muselk for changing, and thanks Party for making this amazing video

I'm still looking for someone that can fill in the Father Figure Mr.Paladin, but his kids can suffice. KEEP IT UP WITH THE GOOD WORK! AND HAVE FUN DOING IT

i first started seeing tf2 with seeing meet the spy and i saw those caracters and then i realise the caracters i see in most animations are from this game and that video was actually funny too then i started watching the rest of the meet the team and then i see lazypurple's how it feels to play engineer and i loved it after like 2 months of watching lazypurple and other tf2 content i saw a video of my favorite FNaF youtuber just uploaded a video about tf2 after seeing that i didn't beieved a game like this can't die so i downloaded it and at my first match there is 2 bots at the enemy team spawncamping us (map is dustbowl) so i tried and tried and then i remembered the medic has ubercharge so i healed until i get my uber and while i was doing my entire team was doing a conga and i was enjoying it even though we are losing but then i get my uber ubered a random player and it worked we capped the first point and we went to second point with dancing itt was my most magical memory and after like 2 weeks i didn't even realised i was playing the shit out of it tf2 is the only thing in this life that actually makes me smiles while doing it and now i make other new players have fun by being friendly, A posing or just letting them get my kills...

Nah the disrespect to star in this video... jerma and star did not have a falling out, that was a 1 day argument, genuinely star and jerma just eventually branched off to greater things, they make collabs and stream together even till this day, smh obviously not caught up with the jerma lore It was inevitable that many of these creators moved on to other things anyways, like jerma and ster, bland TF2 commentary gameplay videos could have only gone so far until it felt like beating a dead horse, and frankly would have been a major waste of their talents, I'm glad they transitioned over to streaming. And I'll have u know star has a healthy streaming career 😤

i mean, i dont think that overwatch and tf2 can even be compared at this point, the 2 games are really good in many ways, but mostly not the same. i love tf2, i love overwatch, as a 2000 hours tf2 man, and 1400 in overwatch man, i think i can confidently say that, yes, they both are really good games, and i recomand every fan of ovewtach go try tf2, and every tf2 man try overwatch. cause hating on something because all persons around you hates it, i like the dumbest thing you could ever do, heck, you could even find it so good that it will become your new after work chill game. if you want to try on of them, you should not try to compare it to each other but more think of it to like, just a new game that could be fun. i mean there is no point on hating on something for no reasons, heck ! even ovewatchs devs said in stream they would love a colab with tf2 cause they love that game. so, try it, you may like it. btw, sorry for the bad gramar, i aint a native english speaker

Very well made video, I quite enjoyed it. As someone who was always quite into following FUNKe and his content, I can’t l help but appreciate the music choice through the video, due to his influence, as I’m sure is similar with others. It’s wild to see how many TF2 players appreciate Weezer, and I can’t help but imagine this one guy had some influence in that (granted, I know the last track is No Surprises, but I only found Radiohead through Ok Human, so it’s still cause of him, in a roundabout way).

kinda sad that soundsmith wasn't even mentioned, as he still does gameplay videos, with the occasional video essay, and has his own way of making variety content. also Quee Quey is a very good upcoming youtuber. also members of the chucklenuts group of youtubers are pretty good and they'll probably come far in the future, although they don't focus on the super high quality of other youtubers, they bring new ideas to the community. also people like solar light and big joey are cool. there's also the entire comp tf2 youtube thing which is quite unique. and there are new video essayests out there like johtohil2 and pride_, there's also the mvm side with weezy. then there's fish stick on a stick making good content too.
