The usage of the word spastic to describe early mobile versions of web pages at the 4:17 mark is not really acceptable tbh 👀

@@DarenC I thought that too. If you listen to 4:58 he repeats it in the context of m.domains missing something and not behaving as expected. The exact wording is in the KZread transcript at the 4:18 marker. 😞

@@farang_lao huh? He says "specifically" at around 5:06. I searched the transcript and it doesn't contain the word "spastic" at all. Maybe we're seeing different transcripts

The word spastic is spoken twice in the presentation in a derogatory manner. It is not present in the transcript as the auto generator skips the second half of every sentence. The transcript does contain the context, i.e. the mobile web was originally broken and couldn't function as expected until the iPhone appeared on the scene. It's almost impossible as a native English speaker to believe the word used was 'specific', especially given the context in the transcript. What I believe was said was a derogatory term for someone with a disability which is not cool anywhere. Happy for you to reply with a convincing argument that I misunderstood the intent of the speaker. Failing that I believe I may ask him myself for an explanation.

@@farang_lao I've listened again, and at 4:05 for example he says "likely you need to build a specific version for mobile". I agree that through speakers at moderate volume it can sound like "spastic", but through my headphones I don't hear a "t". I think it's the way he pronounces it, "spesfic", or with more of an emphasis on the first syllable; unlike how a British speaker would stress the second. But I think he's Singaporean (where English is the main language I believe), so it's fair to accept he pronounces things differently. I agree the term in question isn't one we should be using, if that is indeed what's he's saying
