The Evolution Of Lil Wayne | Rewind
Музыка
Lil Wayne has been rapping since he was a child and worked his way to the top of the charts. The New Orleans MC got his first taste of stardom as a member of the Hot Boys, with their successful 1997 album 'Get It How U Live.' From there came his multi-Platinum debut album 'Tha Block Is Hot,' opening the door for other successful projects like '500 Degreez' and 'Tha Carter II.' He is the heart and soul of Young Money, the collective that birthed both Nicki Minaj and Drake’s record-breaking careers. Wayne also had his share of dust-ups, even ending up locked in a legal battle with Birdman, the same person who gave him his first real shot as a rapper.

I respect Lil' Wayne for the work he's put into the game. Not a fan of some of his shifts in music, but no doubt he's got some classic bangers. He's still a legend in the game. And this is comin' from someone who's more of a fan of the 90s Golden Era of Hip Hop. Gotta respect the culture all around for what it is even if it's not your style.

Rafael Artiga when the other hot boys left and cash money was falling off Wayne made cash money blazing hot all off mixtapes and the Carter.
2018 : he releases Dedication 6 and does 1.5 million streams within 2 minutes of its release
You may not love his music like some people do, but you cannot discredit or disrespect his contribution the the rap game. If it wasn’t for his impact on the culture today’s rappers wouldn’t be here. There is only a hand full of artists that can evolve with the sound for over 20 years and still be relevant. Not mentioning changing the sound along the way. Wayne has a GOAT status.

Wayne, Em, Jay Z, Kanye, Nas and Snoop are the few that have stayed relevant for that long consistently. Also, if we're going to blame anybody for contribution then we need to bring up Bone Thugs N Harmony. If it wasn't for them then most hip hop today wouldn't have the melodies they do or the sing type flows. Wayne did make his mark though, one of the best.

This is a cool clip. I am not Wayne's biggest fan & I feel he is the Genesis of the BS we here today except he could rap his butt off. @KaizerMan

Ye, OutKast and Bone Thugs influenced the melody and experimental sound of the new school whereas Lil Wayne influenced the main new school themes and subject matters imo. Him, No Limit, Young Money and ton of other folks where integral to that bling bling era which evolved into what we have today. I’d say Chief Keef is part of the new school anyway, and I know I should’ve but I’ve never heard any songs by Dipset. They were before my time I guess. But from what I know of them I’d say they can be placed with Wayne, No Limit, Cash Money, etc who influenced the bling bling gangsta themes, they were just bringing it from East. Same with The Lox too.

i wanna thank ya'll for talking about his mixtapes and not just the chart hits. he has more bangers not on the album. good video.
Miss these times man, turning on the TV and seeing wayne win the Grammys or bet awards, he is that goat, 2005 to 2011 was the best

Cheeto Killer Stop lying. BIG only had two albums. The rest where just posthumous and despite having his voice, are no more authentic than me taking a Lil Wayne acapella, adding it to new beats and claiming it’s Tha Carter V. Posthumous albums barely count, and the only decent posthumous Biggie album was Born Again which was 6/10 at best (Dead Wrong is GOAT though). And none of those posthumous albums were really successful either compared to his other albums e.g. Life After Death which went diamond :P But it’s cool he was on the album though I guess. Nice achievement
