THE EVOLUTION OF DIR EN GREY [1997 - 2018]

Музыка

With samples of 133 songs, this video covers the evolution of DIR EN GREY's sound - from as early as MISSA to as recent as The Insulated World - all in the span of 40 minutes. I'll consider making a condensed version if there's interest, but for now, I hope you enjoy listening to THE EVOLUTION OF DIR EN GREY!
Some notes:
One of my uploads (the Average Psycho version of Agitated Screams of Maggots, to be specific) recently got flagged and removed for nudity, so for the sake of complying with KZread Community Guidelines and for not having to lock this video behind an age gate, some visuals have been censored.
+ indicates that the audio being played is from Uroboros [Remastered and Expanded] (2012)

It`s insane that they started in 1997 and have been evolving ever since. This is one of few bands in the world who has continued to put out great music since their first album. Evolving ever since and getting better and better live ever since. It`s just insane to watch the progression and stage presence of this band. It`s almost like an performance art but music just as precise as an orchestra would preform.

Thank you all so much for watching THE EVOLUTION OF DIR EN GREY! I especially appreciate those of you who went through the trouble of attending the premiere and leaving comments! A lot of you are asking me why The World of Mercy isn't in this project, and I'd like to take the time to address that here: The goal of this project was to cover DIR EN GREY's musical evolution from MISSA to The Insulated World. The World of Mercy was released after The Insulated World; putting it outside the parameters of the project. Additionally, I'd say that The World of Mercy is the beginning of a brand new era that we have yet to see unfold. Nonetheless, while editing, I did experiment with breaking the parameters of the project and closing the video with The World of Mercy. Unfortunately, I found that it made for an awkward and somewhat depressing ending when compared to Ranunculus; which lent itself better to the visual recap sequence, and ended on a more-hopeful tone. With all that being said: If/when I make another video like this in the future, I can assure you all that The World of Mercy will be a part of it! Thanks again! PS: One more thing that I want to make absolutely clear: THIS CHANNEL IS NOT AN OFFICIAL ACCOUNT, and it is neither run, nor endorsed by DIR EN GREY, sun-krad Co Ltd., Free Will Ltd., or any of their affiliates. I'm just a fan; not a professional. Please support the band's official channel at kzread.info !

It's okay to include the original live audio in these situations. The imperfections in their live sound and performance identity is certainly part of their evolution. You put so much effort into editing the album tracks over the live clips and I applaud the work--as a fellow long-time fan (2002 and on), I personally relish in their own, "rough around the edges" process of perfection. It's no secret they were spotty live for many years...but I think a more honest documentation of their path from start to present would tell an even more compelling story about this amazing group (I'm thinking of "禍夜想" from the more recent Vulgar homage--ugly and imperfect, but intricately describes their energy). No shade or anything, just some feedback. Again, I applaud your effort--very good, dedicated work!

I see them live in munich after being fan for 19 years when toshiya show up on the stage I really cry but it's tear of joy they are made me proud in them so much. They're start from not much people know them now they have alot of fan all over the world amd them performance never change but it's going in the good and good way. Kyo have good performance, kaoru and die they're always good when they r on stage even they focus with guitar and they duty not entertain much, Toshiya always good entetainer never change, Shinya and his drum very strong and powerful. So that's night it's really great night in my life.

This is like a great advert, the tracks sync into one another well and it wraps up quicker that expected, well done

Thank you so much. I started being their fan since 2003. I was just 14 back then. So, I have spent more than half of my life with them. This video brings back so much memories. So emotional. Thank you deeply.

Thank you for the time invested in making this. Also thank you for finishing in Ranunculus in this way. The song is so much about looking back, the tv's piled on eachother like memories. Like in the CAGE video, I'm glad you included that image there. "I wonder if I've been too kind? I reflected traumas from long ago, until I broke the last you... making ME a sadist?".

This was a hell of a video and I'm sure it took you ages! Thanks for all your effort! what an amazing trip through their whole career. One of the most truly artistic bands ever. Never stopping experimenting or pushing the boundaries and challenging themselves. They're so fucking unique and Kyo is arguably one of the best vocalists on the planet.

This video was so emotional, so well done. I shed my tears in some parts including the end. This band always will be my favorite, for the rest of my life. I also loved, and really understood the explanation behind 'TWOM' isn't in this video. I also think that song is the beginning of a new phase, and I hope so too. Thanks for this.

Thank you for sharing this 💖 Fan since 2000, am now almost 30.. Like many others I feel 'old' xD and I definitely know all the songs but still I had a few where I was like 'oohh yeah that's right', I usually listen to the live versions of songs so some of these were a small throwback as to how they originally sounded.. Once again, thank you for sharing 💖

I have been a fan since 05 (I was 12/13 back then) and got to see them 4 times in my years of youth and adulthood. Once in 07 when they toured with the deft tones, then in 08 when they toured with the human abstract as their opener, ‘10 when it was with Apocalyptica where I got to meet them and get a picture with them.. NOW almost 10 years later I got to see them just a couple days ago and it’s been a ride following them since I was just a child and now I am 26. I feel like I have grown with them. I started this decade with Dir en grey and I have ended that same decade with Dir en grey. Almost 15 years with these guys.. you captured that well with this video. Thank you so much.
