This system was invented by McDonald's. People think it is a food company, it is actually a real estate company. The Corp purchases property, they lease or franchise it out. The food just pays the bills while they buy and sell depending on the market. This is why you find McDonald's in places where you don't find other restaurants. The Corp itself runs very few of its own.Their land holdings are now rival that of the Vatican. It is considered the most successful and innovative real estate company in history. That is why so many companies are now using this model for diversification. And then these apartments mostly remain empty as other millionaires use it to launder money.

Most of the workers come from South asian countries, which are prodomantly poor, so they come here to live a better life and support their families back home.
