The Everly Brothers - Bird Dog / Till I kissed you

Музыка

Bird dog lyrics:
Johnny is a joker (he's a bird)
A very funny joker (he's a bird)
But when he jokes my honey (he's a dog)
His jokin' ain't so funny (what a dog)
Johnny is a joker that's a'tryin' to steal my honey (he's a bird dog)
Johnny sings a love song (like a bird)
He sings the sweetest love song (ya ever heard)
But when he sings to my gal (what a howl)
To me he's just a wolf dog (on the prowl)
Johnny wants to fly away and puppy-love my baby (he's a bird dog)
Hey, bird dog get away from my quail
Hey, bird dog you're on the wrong trail
Bird dog you better leave my lovey-dove alone
Hey, bird dog get away from my chick
Hey, bird dog you better get away quick
Bird dog you better find a chicken little of your own
Johnny kissed the teacher (he's a bird)
He tiptoed up to reach her (he's a bird)
Well he's the teacher's pet now (he's a dog)
What he wants he's been gettin' now (what a dog)
He even made the teacher let him sit next to my baby (he's a bird dog)
Hey, bird dog get away from my quail
Hey, bird dog you're on the wrong trail
Bird dog you better leave my lovey-dove alone
Hey, bird dog get away from my chick
Hey, bird dog you better get away quick
Bird dog you better find a chicken little of your own
Till I kissed you lyrics:
Never felt like this until I kissed ya
How did I exist until I kissed ya
Never had you on my mind
Now you're there all the time
Never knew what I missed 'til I kissed ya, uh-huh
I kissed ya, oh yeah
Things have really changed since I kissed ya, uh-huh
My life's not the same now that I kissed ya, oh yeah
Mmm, ya got a way about ya
Now I can't live without ya
Never knew what I missed 'til I kissed ya, uh-huh
I kissed ya, oh yeah
[Chorus:]
You don't realize what you do to me
And I didn't realize what a kiss could be
Mmm, ya got a way about ya
Now I can't live without ya
Never knew what I missed 'til I kissed ya, uh-huh
I kissed ya, oh yeah
[Chorus]
[Fade]
I kissed ya, uh-huh
I kissed ya, oh yeah

These guys had been there, seen it, done it, chucked it all away got it all back, played catch with it and wiped their arses on it before I was even born. Just me saying they are one of my favorite bands says it all. Genius. P.S thanks Dad for playing them relentless in the car when I was a kid. This is what got me into them.

Their country accents come on so fine with this tune. It's why I loved them in 1957 when I was 9, and to this day. Seeing them live was an all time music high. Natives of Kentucky as my own ancestry....Central City's Everly Brothers heritage there is phenomenal.

The best, hands down, no doubt about it. I grew up in the small town they lived in. They shaped our lives. Just wish they hadn't been squeezed out like they were. They should have been playing big stadiums like Neil Diamond, but Acuff-Rose killed that. www.savingcountrymusic.com/how-music-row-acuff-rose-killed-the-everly-brothers/#:~:text=Phil%20Everly%20of%20The%20Everly%20Brothers%20Passes%20Away&text=But%20when%20their%20first%20single,Columbia%20promptly%20dropped%20the%20duo.&text=So%20then%20Chet%20Atkins%20introduced,Acuff%2DRose%20with%20Roy%20Acuff.

Re comments that say it was Phil’s tenor harmonies that gave the Everlys their distinct sound: that’s literally only half the story. It was the combination of Don’s tenor-baritone lead alongside Phil’s tenor - both in the same genetic/DNA vocal tone - that made their sound unique.

Fabulous !!! There is just something about BLOOD harmonizing that is different than two people who can harmonize if that makes any sense. It's different from artists who double track and harmonize with themselves. It's simply distinctive.

Genetic harmony can be stunning! The Beach Boys were also fantastic... however listen to the Beatles's vocal blend and notice how 'Because' (from Abby Road) proves exquisite resonance and timbre can exist even among unrelated singers. A less noted aspect of what made the Everly Bothers' so intriguing was their regional accent and innovative use of bluegrass harmonic intervals in pop music.

@@stewartfenton7660 Without a doubt. No one sounded like them, no one looked liked them and they def had a style of performing which was their own. It was rockabilly at it's finest. In fact, imho they are responsible for originating it. I was 6 yrs old in 1959 and my best friend and I would hold hands swinging our arms and singing Dream Dream Dream as we walked down our block lol We knew all the words. My younger sister was tortured every time Wake up Little Suzie ( her name was Suzie) came on the radio bc we'd all start singing it to her and she'd cry. lol I've been listening to them for 63 yrs and I'll go to my grave listening. :o)

As a thirteen year old kid, I nearly kill myself prating about in the back of our old B&W TV, trying to get it working, so I could for the first time “see” the Everly Brothers on this show. Somehow I got it working and, the high-voltage shock I got from the TV and from seeing them, turned me into an Everly fan until the day I die
