THE EVE RESCUE - Kerbal Space Program Mission

Ойындар

In today's episode of "The Stranded", I rescue one of my favourite KZread creators from one of Kerbal Space Program's most challenging destinations, the dreaded purple terror that is Eve! We're also a little restricted in terms of components - I don't have the 5m fairings or the inflatable heat shield, so building a (single launch) recovery mission is definitely going to have its challenges. Bring it on!

    Hello everyone! Unfortunately, during the making of this video, I had some major PC difficulties that I've still not managed to resolve. I was repeatedly getting BSOD every 5 minutes, and the act of driving the rover on Eve seemed to really really exacerbate the issue somehow. I therefore unfortunately made the difficult decision to use VesselMover to complete the journey to the lander. HOWEVER, I will state right now that as soon as I have figured out what is causing the repeated BSODs with my PC, and get it stable again, I will make a video (probably on my second channel) showing me make an uninterrupted journey with the rover, to prove beyond all doubt that it is possible

  • @KR4FTW3RK
    @KR4FTW3RK2 жыл бұрын

    Driving rovers long distances is probably the least fun thing that one can do in KSP (apart from pushing a stage with a kerbals RCS-pack) so I can very much feel the pain...... When KSP 0.21 was the latest KSP-build (old aerodynamics model, no fairings and no re-entry heating) I had the glorious idea to do a manned Eve mission... in order to save some delta-v I built a 200 ton return stage with WHEELS at the bottom so I could land on Eve, drive it up the tallest mountain and launch from there. It was a fantastic idea and went swimmingly.

    Yeah, we really need some timewarp compatible autopilot features. Aircraft are less of a chore, but even they could do with improvement. Does anybody actually build aircraft for the low flight contracts, or just chuck suborbital rockets at them? Rovers are more important though, because we already spend months waiting for transfer windows, and it bugs me no end that my rover will be used for maybe 15 mins of that.

  • @josev731

    @josev731

    Rocket rovers man. Just shoot yourself and then land. Recover, shoot back. I normally have a lander in orbit to rescue kerbals easily. Eve is the outlier though. I’d have to sacrifice a lander each time anyone needs to come back up

    he meant as in terrier engine on the surface of eve, he uses it for orbital insertion, as eve's SURFACE gravity is way higher than any other planet (except jool) it also has the biggest atmosphere (means more drag) of any planet (except jool) so terriers wouldnt work for a lander taking off on land, but would work for an orbital insertion
