I think one thing Armenia and Georgia have that could make them a more appealing candidate is their religion. Even though it is not talked about, that could subconsciously be a deciding factor in determining which country is "European" enough to join the EU.

From a geopolitical point of view, Armenia needs to join EU ASAP to ensure security. Turkey and Azerbaijan are getting aggressive and Armenia’s traditional security guarantor- Russia- is increasingly unwilling to protect Armenia. But joining the EU may harm relations with neighbouring Iran.

The EU does not annex countries. It's a democratic process in which countries apply to join the union.

this is the goofiest title of a video I have ever seen, this is nothing like supporting separatists or straight up inventing new states for your advantage, the EU is basically recognition that you aren't going to be invaded and LOSE. Also, it gives people more rights, not less, unlike the "separatists".

Head of State: President or Monarch Head of Government: Prime Minister or Chancellor Head of Parliament: President of the Parliament or Speaker of the House The European Commission is the closest thing the EU has to a Government, with the individual Commissars acting as Ministers. So the President of the Commission is closest to a Prime Minister.

Regarding the prohibition of communist countries, weirdly enough, it was an issue for Portugal to join the EU. The original draft of the 1975 democratic constitution provided that Portugal should make steps towards communism, but they were forced to change it to enter the EU.

Whenever a communist country wants to outlaw capitalism, it's considered to be a dictatorship and not a free country because of that. @@Stalkercat Europe is just a Western Eurasian peninsula. It's not a continent. It lies on the same plate and is entirely connected to Asia. The only thing that defines what a Europe is are cultural ties (and arbitrary borders like a river and a bunch of mountains). You could then even argue that Africa could belong to this continent too, as it used to have a land connection until the Brittish came and built the Suez Canal. This means, that there are 4 continents: America, Afro-Eurasia, Australia and Antarctica.

Or we could even say there's only one continent, Afro-Eurasia, And America is just a really big island. What's defined as a continent is completely arbitrary, So it's really up to the speaker how many continents there are and what they contain. I would think that it would be much more likely for Canada to join into some sort of union with the USA rather than the EU.

Empire is good for business and travel as long as you are relatively equal and not slave province. During Rome, Syrian could go from Damascus to London without bureaucratic hassle or haggling with robber baron / agha and that situation was still not restored to this day. However Old Europe is still full of people living in same village from Great Migration of 5th century, so Project EU is building empire as fast as possible to not spook them too much.

I seriously dislike the portrait of the EU being painted here by, for example, comparing Switzerland being surrounded by the EU to Lesotho being surrounded by South Africa. It‘s just annoying when the EU gets compared to being a full on „country“. It‘s just an economic collaboration between the different European countries. The countries included in the EU still are fully independent countries with economies, currencies*, foreign relations, passports, etc… (*while yes, there‘s the euro, it has different designs for each country, and is an option completely up to the countries in the EU as to wether they want to join or not). My point basically is: just like brics or that economic african union or even the UN, the EU is just a cooperation focused on money and economy. No country gets annexed, neither is it just a single country, but it‘s JUST A UNION, A COOPERATION!

The closest thing to EU would be america under the articles of confederation.

Expansion is a mistake. We shouldn't be letting any countries in till they have 15+ year record of meeting the standards. As we've seen, it's all to easy to backslide. I support promoting our values and aiding development for places like Ukraine, Serbia, and FYROM, but letting them in is a terrible idea at the moment. Sure, we should signal the potential for membership to Ukraine in particular, but it is still a very corrupt country.
