❖ I'm pleased to share with you the result of an experiment born from Nicolas' Commission for his fantasy series Yscalia.
He asked me to compose a song that was inspired by Tchaikovsky's style but that at a certain point became an explosive and danceable Funk song.
It could have been the study of my whole life but I took it much more lightly than a total and full immersion study of the composer, I just decided to be influenced, take note of some of the key elements that I felt especially in the ballet "The Nutcracker" and try later, from scratch, to write referring to that type of harmonies, scales, timbres and contrapuntal style.
Funk was inspired in part by some reference artists such as Earth, wind and fire but with a hint of recent listening to Mark Rebillet and his sacred influence. Yo!
In the video you can read some descriptive summaries of the setting for which I composed the music. Here is the text quoting Nicolas' paragraph:
"The Kamincian Empire...
In the frozen north lies a shimmering jewel that is a hub of decadence, art, and entertainment. Centuries ago, the Kamincian people were exiled northward by the Kingdom of Valis, left to fend for themselves in an inhospitable wasteland. There they eked out a miserable existence until, one day, a man by the name of Marloz Votmer took the reins of leadership. With a seemingly divine vision, began guiding his kinsman towards building the foundations of a winter paradise on earth. Now known as the “Eternal Emperor,” this man still rules today, ensuring that the eternal party continues without issue and that his word remains divine law."
Genius. I love this concept, "The Eternal Party"!
