About Ayla Tesler-Mabe:
Ayla has been making waves in the world of guitar playing as a professional guitarist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, since the early age of 14. After only been playing for two years, her first KZread video (a rendition of John Mayall’s “Hideaway”) put her on the map and kickstarted her music career. She has since been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, become a member of the Ernie Ball and Fender family of artists, and earned various Berklee College of Music scholarships. Musically, Ayla finds great pleasure in exploring the numerous avenues available to her through various styles of music, as seen through her work with Calpurnia and Ludic.

Hi, great lesson, thanks. quick question! It really looks like you are muting that D string (the G note) in the Eb9 at 1:45. Are you? Seems like you really only hit the top 3, sometimes 4, strings anyway -- so ... ?

James Brown wasn’t really an instrumentalist. He was a fantastic, energetic dancer with a screamin’ voice, but not much for developing guitar chord voicings, so I give most cred to his geetar man

I grew up in Southern CA in the '60's, listening to James Brown (along with all the other greats of that period). NEVER, in my wildest dreams, did I ever think that 50 years later, I'd have a white, teenage, girl, from Canada, explaining the technicalities of Mr. Brown's music. Life is FULL of surprises, isn't it?

Boy, there are a million guitar teachers and preachers on KZread but these lessons by far are more helpful to me because she's not trying to show her chops just smiling and teaching. Thanks! I'm sold.
Unselfish attitude. Nice lesson. Easy to follow. Well delivered. 👍
Just bar the 3 high strings anywhere, instant funk 🤷♂️

I can't stress this enough i love Ayla Tesler-Mabe so much!! She's so talented and such an inspiration.
Alya, you rock!! There aren’t many lady guitar teachers out there on the internet and it’s inspiring to learn from you and watch you shred! Thanks girl
This woman is a true artist. Her love of music shines through. Thank you !!!
I played with Teddy Washington James's lead trumpter for 9 yes and Robert Berry James's guitarist on " The Payback ". It was great.. You got to get out and play! You can't sit around copying records all day. The proof is in the pudding. One can only become a great seasoned player one way baby . So git on out and get it on!!!
Her voice helps me sleep . Thankss
Thank you for the encouragement! James is my favorite.
I'm working on having less of a 'death grip' with the left hand. Ayla really makes it looks effortless, which is an inspiration to lighten up.
At first glance I read this as “essential chunk fords” and I thought “finally something new” then I soon realized my mind was simply playing tricks. But this is cool too
Somehow that seems even more confident, like intimidating confidence, when someone comes in to play, and they don't even take their coat off.

Great lesson - thanks for demonstrating the chords clearly and showing how to use them in songs!
I love your playing Ayla... and wonderful lesson... thank you.
Extremely nice attitude, clearly puts music first, impeccable groove and doesn't fall into the "i'm a girl and I play the guitar please look at me" scheme, which is so damn soothing.

you are a great artist and so sweet! sometimes i just plug in to hear your voice bc it gives me such a nice vibe
Amazing!
Ufff... Excellent. 🎸🎶🏆👍🎧
This is a great video, but I'd love to hear/see more about what's going on with the right hand. Obviously the chord has to fit in; but for me, the groove is both the key thing and the part I find the hardest.
Awesome! Thanks
5th video on funk guitar chords and finally I can feel the funk!
Thank you, Ayla!🙂
Thanx ATM !!
Extremely helpful and perfectly clear, props to you guys! I'd love to see some more chord voicings breakdowns of different styles. Maybe some essential chord progressions as well?
