The Esport That Nintendo Actually Tried To Support - Splatoon
Ойындар
Nintendo has historically had a poor track record when it comes to supporting the esports communities for its various competitive titles ranging from Super Smash Bros to ARMS.
However, out of their many titles, Splatoon, in particular, has seen active competitive support from Nintendo which in addition to the efforts of a passionate community has given rise to a unique esports scene. This is the story of Splatoon esports.

Splatoon is easily one of the best Esport scenes, even if it's not one of the biggest, and my favorite shooter I've played. The community is really tight nit and everyone appreciates each other, and the game itself is really unique compared to most other shooters and stays fun for much longer than other games. As an Esport, I've found that it's better than most because it is incredibly well balanced and I don't think I've ever seen a cheater trying to get into the competitive scene. Overall, it's my favorite multiplayer game I've played and it's definitely up there for one of my favorite games overall, of course thanks to the multiplayer, but also because of the single player campaigns which are actually really good.

@@antoniodelgado5465 Nintendo cancelled the finals for the NA Open 2020 Finals stream in December because a good chunk of the teams involved had names supporting the Smash Community, such as #FreeMelee, or Melee Nation. The teams did this because Nintendo shut down The Big House 10, a popular Smash Bros: Melee event that had to be hosted online this year because of the pandemic. However, the organizers used a third party program called Slippi, making Melee playable online in the first place. Nintendo saw this and fully C&D'd the entire event, shutting it down.

My question is why does Nintendo stop making new content for Splatoon so soon into the games life. Splatoon and Splatoon 2 both stopped receiving content only about 2 years into the games life when other competitive shooters that have come out several years ago still get new content and balance patches to this day. The partiality is especially visible when compared to how frequently Nintendo adds new content to smash games.

@@obba40 Bruh I’m not a toxic melee pedo I’ve never even played melee. But when Nintendo cancels a huge tournament because they claim that pirated copies of melee are involved is ridiculous when every copy at said tournament is official. Nintendo just can’t handle fans adding software to old games that adds online software. The big house even had to cancel their ultimate event because of Nintendo cease and desist. Then when fans understandably got mad they ignored it until the splat on community brought it up. Then they cowardly canceled the splatoon stream. Like it’s been proven thousands of times that Nintendo hates me, they hate you, and they hate all of their fans. Like look at Sega, they love fan projects and have even hired fans multiple times such as aaron Webber, the sonic mania team, and the streets of rage 4 team. Like I’m not an Nintendo hater I’m an Nintendo fan. I’ve played their games for almost my entire life so to see them do something like this is heartbreaking. I just really want Nintendo to learn from their archaic ways and support their community’s. Like I know that Nintendo technically has the legal rights to do these things but really?

@@sanik2146 no one said anything about piracy. I dont care if they hate me or not. I play the games that i enjoy and for the rest i could care less. Its a corporation not your friend. They dont hate anyone. if something goes against their terms of service or copyright they have to do something. Its law. Why would they add Online to Melee ? They want to move on from melee. Just because its not in the news doesnt mean Nintendo doesnt hire fans of their games. Give me reasons why they should support the melee community lol.
I used to play Splatoon competitive, then I found this channel and got into Overwatch. And now a year later this Video is released, so many memories coming back.
