Someone once described zero frets as "the hallmark of the low end and the high end". They're either used because they require less time and accuracy when fitting the nut, or they're there because they make for a more precise instrument, regardless of cost. In the middle, it's apparently cheaper to make a good nut than make a good zero fret. The market perception matters, too; we're more likely to see a bad one than a good one, which colors how we think of such things, and obviously informs manufacturer choices.

It does teach guitar such as chords and then runs you through chord change drills and gives an audio warning if you aren't changing fast enough in rhythm and other features. So I see it as someone starting to learn guitar and also it does come with a shoulder strap so you keep it in place and take some of the weight and place across your back.

Well congrats for your Honesty I came to see a review of this guitar after looking at the Blue Lava range Someone said in the comments these Enya NEXG are better and cheaper, Well this is a touch over two hundred dollars more expensive and it doesnt have all the same features because like you if you have to activate the thing the way you describe then no i am with you on that Their is no earthly reason for them needing that info, Even more worrying your protection software saying it is an unsafe site I do like the design of it But unless they bring price down and the activation process Then they can keep there unsmart guitars Now where is that blue lava site again

I just won one in auction for $550, they sell on Amazon now for $635, I have not decided if I want it or not; couple weeks ago got a Taylor Academy 12 Nylon String Acoustic Guitar brand new in box at same auction for $452.00 the Taylor is priced at $750.00 new; There is a lot of things not to pay $900 for that guitar one main being made in China; although it looks good I have seen some other reviewers about some real issues one of it is the weight; the Taylor weights only about 3 pounds; this Enya is not carbon fiber but carbon composite; it is Chinese, it is not or near an Ovation by any length and even at $600 it is not that affordable.

I‘ve watched several (mostly positive) reviews on this, and your review made an instant subscriber out of me. :-) You‘re the only one (so far) who even mentioned how heavy the guitar is - not cool for one of its main possible uses, as in busking. You‘re also the only one to even mention the sketchy app-downloading process. The only other reviewer who got into the activation process simply complained about having to do it. As for the sounds, you could have been more critical of the „electric“ sound - it‘s really awful. And the acoustic sound is, to be fair, pretty nice, and not just an amplified piezo. Instead, it‘s obvious that some modeling is being added in, as also for the Yamaha Silent Guitar. As for the latter, comparing the two instruments is not really fair, since the NexG, to its credit, has a built-in speaker (for busking, quick-and-dirty 2-song birthday banquet performances, maybe even graveside dirges or forest wedding ceremonies….), and the Yamaha does not. All in all, though, your review is the one that managed to make it clear to me that I‘m not willing to fiddle with such technology yet, for it seems a bit unreliable and is too high-priced for that. Heck, I could get a second Yamaha Transacoustic with built-in chorus and reverb which sounds a heck of a lot nicer, has no hiccups, and can be easily paired up with my Bose S1 Pro or more brand-new EV Everse 8 for battery-operated performance with absolutely no compromises. Sure, it‘s not as compact, but it‘s far superior as an instrument, and when no amp is needed, it‘s far better to hold and play. If I was in the market for a „silent guitar“, at this point I‘d wait for Yamaha‘s next one in that series, for it‘s long overdue. Maybe they will juice up their concept soon?

I have other guitars but I can not practice because I disturb others. So If the guitar needs the app for blue tooth and that way the guitar is silent, then the whole thing is doom.

I have the same opinion. Yamaha has decades of experience sampling sound from pianos, and encoding the sound electronically to play solid state instruments. I'd trust Yamaha before this. Enya may turn out to be very reliable and effective, but at this point, it's a gamble. Yamaha is not a gamble at all.

what Enya and all theese „sponsored“ reviewers do not mention is, that you have to activate the guitar via a chinese suspicious link, otherwise it turns off after ten minutes. The sound is way to dull and the earphones are crap! And you canˋt modify the effects in the app. The manual is not in english but in hinese. So my 1000 bucks were a complete waste!😔

@@JeremySheppard I also saw those same reviews and a few others. Search for the guitar and the reviews will pop up. I would love to see the Yamaha against this, which I’d bet is probably the least gimmicky, as well as some other brands making similar “smart” acoustic guitars with built in effects and speaker (many of which use the guitar soundboard to amplify sound instead of a speaker with amazing results). I’m surprised a composite guitar would be so heavy. I’m guessing it’s the speaker and electronics weighing it down. I’d also love to know how durable the thing is if dropped or smashed. The guitar itself “might” be ok, but would the electronics inside survive? Are the electronics housed using some sort of shock absorption that would prevent parts from coming loose or smashing inside the guitar if it is dropped? I also say “might” because it’s not made of the best type of bidirectional composite for a guitar that can take a huge beating at any angle like a KLOS or McPherson uses and it could theoretically can still break. Looks like this Enya is made of powdered composite mixed into a resin that’s then molded into its shape. Most of these “composite” guitars (ie: Rainsong, Journey, Lava, etc.) don’t advertise the type of carbon fiber and/or composite specs they’re using on their websites and make people think they’re as strong as a tank when they aren’t necessarily so without using bidirectional CF. Some of the companies will tell people more about their composite materials if asked, others won’t. I’ve seen a few review sites that were able to get the info or figure it out. I actually think talking about the types of composite/CF being used by guitar makers would be an interesting subject for a future video because people should be educated about what they’re buying and the fact is that most composite is not created equal - though they will all be stronger and lighter than wood, it doesn’t mean most of the lesser expensive powdered resin and unidirectional types being used to make these guitars can’t still break depending on the angle it gets dropped, takes a hit in the airport, etc. That’s what makes a KLOS such a huge bargain - it’s the least expensive guitar line using the highest quality bidirectional CF (and I still think you should get a full sized KLOS to review because you’d be MUCH happier with the volume). It also helps a person understand why a McPherson costs so much more. At any rate, I think this particular guitar is probably best suited for a child or teenager. There are smart guitars out there made of both composite or wood that are better suited for an adult. But I agree, that software issue is a HUGE problem because it’s a web app. They need a real iOS and Android app for people to feel comfortable with - and a lot of Chinese brands with all kinds of products make these questionable web apps. They probably don’t want to pay for a quality mobile app developer, the App Store and Google Play fees, etc. I have one such web app for a smart toothbrush someone gave me that I also didn’t download because it wanted geolocation and other weird info - like why would a toothbrush need geolocation to activate a local camera feature? At $900, you want to be able to use all the features beyond the ones that come on board with the guitar. So I agree that they need to get a serious mobile app on board if they are going to sell these guitars because most people will not be okay with a shady web app - plus, a web app would have a subpar user experience that is not acceptable at that price point in this day and age.
