Actually the lightning rod is a non solid, moveable redirector that doesnt have to be on a block (so like detector rail but better)

Looking at the diagram at this time stamp, I do actually approve of the first four changes but it was the last one that messed me up. Because of the specifics of my build, none of the redstone youtubers' fixes worked for me so I had to invent my own. That was partly annoying but also I kind of enjoyed it haha.

@@logicbugs9452 Reddit is the best website as long as you're only subscribed to extremely specific tiny subreddits. Or even not that tiny depending on the moderation or userbase of specific places. Same goes for Tumblr, it's hard to get used to "blogs" that consist in 99% of other people's posts, but once you find the like-minded people, human-curated content becomes better than any algorithm.

Why did I watch the whole video even though I’ve been around redstone literally since 2012, and knew everything here plus more? CAUSE THE VIDEO IS REALLY FRICKING FUNNY

The code for the piston mod wasn't stolen afaik Also, lightning rods are a transparent redirector from all sides which doesn't forking break like detector rails and doesn't send block updates like observers.

I think he was joking about the pistons but on a related note, I really wish Mojang still did things like this as a lot of features pre release started as mods and got added in officially. Like why not bring OptiFine features into the official game or something like Cubic Chunks. I know it's not as easy as it was back then (because old mods were just an extension of the official code and not based on a completely different API like Forge nowadays) but it would still be nice.

@@yellowwinner1 optifine is pretty janky and the creator said he wouldnt let mojang add it without the cape system, nowadays i think it would be very controversial if mojang decided to just take a mod and directly implement it into the game

ok but cakes can be read by comparators that important detail was left out also, theres the part where they decided to add wolves into the game and someone said "hey this update sucks im gonna add those gears back to make something better than wolves" but it was only baby mode of that because later some other guy(s) made another mod inspired off of that and then that was only the other baby mode because then some other other guy(s) said "hey you know what would be cool if we fleshed out these gears" and then the create mod was born and the gears are fully implemented into that mod even though their purpose is probably completely different than the original intention of the gears that were in vanilla

With the fact that a 16-bit ALU was built in minecraft in _2010,_ I'm surprised we didn't get redstone computer sooner. I mean, computers back then probably weren't quite strong enough to handle even the most basic of redstone computers, but it's still suprising how long it took.

Relatively speaking, it’s not that hard to scale up to a computer from 16-bit ALU. The problem is that pretty much any gate has a .1 second delay so making anything would be incredibly slow. The challenge is making it fast imo.

I think another factor is that redstone is a fairly niche part of the Minecraft community. Still though, I agree; he is underrated.

They probably removed your post for being a "chain post", it has happened to me too

Pretty kewl summary.

1:32 there was actually a way we extended redstone signals before repeaters by making a by basically building the redstone repeater crafting recipe (iykyk)

This one actually has the energy of the original

Someone needs to make a YTP where they mix this with the original in a nonsense order.
