To me, this is the best arc in DBZ. Nothing beats the iconic SSJ Transformation. The stakes were high, Vegeta’s speech, everyone doing their hardest to beat Frieza. It was all so spectacular

My fav arc. Super Saiyan was the cherry on top but i loved the use of scouters, power levels, sneaky tactics having to tiptoe around Freiza and his goons without swatting the beehive, plot development etc. Amazing arc.

Greatest DBZ arc ever.

The saga that change everything still in my opinion peak Dragon Ball.

Namek is the best arc in the series. I love how tightly woven the plot is in it. The only thing I dislike in this is how abused zenkai boosts are.

Really crazy to think of people watched this or read at some point and didn’t know about the Namek Dragon balls. That was a dark beginning to the arc

Wow again it's fascinating to see the differences between the anime & the manga (love to see you cover that fully 😂) thanks for continuing to retell the story of dragon ball to us this way even if it's just a summary. I love these types of video seeing how it's orginally told by the author 😅🤔 Is it me or did toriyama or maybe a translation error saying vegeta killed piccolo when nappa really killed most of the z fighters & vegeta only harmed goku, yajobe, krillin & gohan he never killed any of z fighters 🤷‍♂️ Goku sure showing he's a pure hearted saiyan STILL willing to show mercy to his opponents though slightly different reasons 🤷‍♂️ he's quite a fascinating character don't you think?🤔

Thank you! To be honest, I thought the same thing about the Vegeta comments. While reading, I kept thinking to myself that Nappa was the one who killed the Z Fighters. However, I dont think it was a mistake. By unleashing Nappa on the group, Vegeta was technically to blame since Nappa’s dead.

I like how piccolo called Goku and freiza freaks of nature 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

Nicely done with the read I was at the edge of my seat! Even though I know this arc and watched it on TV back in the toonami days it's still really good to revisit and is one of my most favorite arcs in all of dragon ball still love that goku vs ginyu fight too!!

The best part about this arc to me is the idea that, for truly the first time ever, goku was completely outclassed without a hope in hell of beating frieza. Sure, he lost to Tao. But the solution was readily available. He lost to king piccolo, but again, a readily available solution was there. Goku went pretty much unmatched in dragon ball all throughout the series up until meeting frieza. He may have had some missteps along the way with Tao, King Piccolo, and Raditz. But he always found a simple solution, be it korin, ultra divine water, or teaming up with piccolo. Frieza was truly a different beast. He was only using half his true power, and he still had goku completely outclassed. Not even the spirit bomb did the job. That’s true helplessness. Not 1 single solution existed at the time of crisis. And then…. A prophecy was fulfilled. How great of writing is that? You build up your character literal YEARS to be this unstoppable force, only to have him completely meet his match at the hands of a cosmic tyrant that’s never been defeated. You build up this ancient prophecy of the saiyan race, and it all culminates in the absolute greatest moment in anime history. Just pure poetry. The frieza arc is an absolute masterpiece

This is still easily the best saga in DBZ. Everything that happens from the moment Gohan, Krillin & Bulma arrive on Namek up until the moment Namek explodes is magnificent storytelling

I wonder how the story would change if Chi-Chi wasn't so selfish and cared more about the Earth's well-being than Gohan's studies.

The greatest saga in all of Dragon Ball with its greatest villain. How anyone could EVER think the Cell Arc even comes close is laughable to me.

First of all Justin I watched many of your videos and loved them, especially these manga episodes since I decided to get in to the DB manga. I have all first 9 volumes uncolored but it is still so damn cool to read. As for this arc- This one is my favorite and Freeza being my favorite DBZ/GT/DBS villain of all time. He has it all- Insane power, intelligence, humor, brutality and ironically well mannered. Question- Does anyone realize that when Dodoria thinks he finished off Gohan, Kuririn & Dende he made the same mistake twice? Think about Burdock. Also I find it interesting that some attacks are named in games but not in the manga. Like the signature attack of Zarbon it's nameless here.

In my day, The Namek Saga was always playing reruns ad nauseam for what felt like years. Then out of nowhere, they started running the Cell saga. It was a breath of fresh air at the time. I think it was also Ssj Vegeta that made me fall for it so much. Not to mention Trunks. Still, looking back, the Frieza Saga will always be unmatched. Even when Vegeta sacrificed himself in the Buu Saga, it was nothing compared to how powerful his last words were to Goku before he died the first time. Even as a kid, I understood his pain, and he instantly became my favorite character in the entire canon of Dragonball. To me, he is the true main Character. Goku might be taller but Vegeta is greater! VEGETA! YES!!!!!!!
