Nice to see the Patented Alfa Romeo Rust Inhibitor Dispersion Unit is functioning well. Nice thick protective layer evenly applied across the block, engine bay, and trans.

That Russian steel is fantastic...or was it Chinese....gave up on these rust buckets many years ago, never again even if you paid me.
The fact that the speedo drive unit is serviceable just shows how mechanics back in this era of cars thought differently. Instead of disposable "just replace the assembly" thinking, which was my reflex, we have a level of craftsmanship and frugal thinking. Amazing work, keep the videos coming!

Yeah back when things were built to be repaired. The speedometer in my 1999 GTV has stopped working and it's down to some electrical fault in a sensor and it's no longer manufactured.

I consider Jethro's videos to be extremely well filmed and produced - most likely more effort in filming/producing the video than performing the actual restoration work. The only other KZread producer that I consider to be on a similar level is Soup Classic Motoring, however it’s a shame that Soup does not feature Alfa Romeos. However Soup's current project is a Lotus so I'm now hooked. Look forward to future videos that feature the wonderfully patinaed Giulia 1300.

Back in the day I recall reading that the classic alfa 5 speed box used 3x synchros for 1/2, 3/4 and 5/... gears. The idea was that you could swap the 5/... synchro with the 1/2 synchro and the usual weak synchro performance on 2nd gear would be solved for free.

Love watching your videos - so calm and everything done in a controlled manner without haste and none of the shouty-shouty and preaching of many other content providers. Awesome that you restore the cars of my youth in the country of my youth. I miss both my father's Giulia Super, TP 4192, with 1750 motor and a few other mods, that I had access to in my late teens and early twenties - that was an awesome car and was purchased from Dawie de Villiers just days before he opened Glenwood Motors in Pretoria, plus the powder blue Alfetta 1.8 saloon, GWY 985 T which I purchased from him later. The latter was a rust box though, built by AR in the Brits factory, while the Giulia Super wasn't (built by Datsun in Rosslyn). Will be looking out for your valve-train reset video - that's a job I did with my dad a few times! Thank you for filming your hobby.

And down the rabbit hole we go!
One thing with these engines which you have to watch closely are the rubber parts between the carburetors and the engine. When these gets older they start to crack and when they leak they will kill your engine (one or more cylinders running too lean).
Great work! And yes, it is better to adress these issues now then leave them be and wishing you did later on.

Good stuff Jethro! My experience with that the front oil seal is that it still leaks oil after the seal replacement, and a speedy sleeve installed. it will only leak when the oil level is above the "N" on "MIN"...once it drops to that level, no more oil leak.
