There are humble people who simply want control over their own lives in contrast to arrogant people who want control over the lives of others. The battle is control vs power.

I bought 7 copies of 'Road to Serfdom' in 2007, and gave it out to friends as an X-mas gift. Because at that time in the USA, it was the book that everybody needed to read. 'Road to Serfdom' is NOT my favourite book by Hayek. It's probably №5 if I had to rank them. But I still love it. Because I have no hatred or prejudice for anybody who thinks Socialism is a good idea. Many of them have the best intentions. Many of them are honest, intelligent people who simply don't realize what they are agitating for.

Correct, Socialism is dying in Europe. NATO protected these Socialists. Their Pensions and negative interest rates are bringing their end. The USA is $33 trillion in debt and taxpayers are paying $1 trillion in interest. Medicare and Medicaid are $1.5 trillion in 2023. Add another $1 trillion a year for Obamacare and the Feds are SPENDING $2.5 trillion a year on healthcare with just these 3 programs and not 1 of the Presidential candidates will mention Obamacare! American Socialism is dying too! Brave NEW Word of FREEDOM!

Wonderful, concise discussion on FAHayek's book 'Road to Serfdom', w/focus on chapter: End of Truth! My son, Max accepted full Scholarship to NYU in [2020] study Computer Engineering. In my mind/ mecca-of-current Socialist, Communist & blatant Marxist ideology nUSA!! I was 'horrified'; yet, didn't dissuade Max from attending, in-fact paid his entrance fees, helped coordinate his move from home to NYC. My only demand; he carry & read Hayek's book! We don't discuss our varied politics; yet, I'm extremely pleased to see Hayek's book above his desk, on small-shelf in apartment! He just might find his Truth!

Hayek was concerned about war-time (planned) economies continuing post-war. And about the English leaning toward the belief that planning works in war time, and so, why not employ planning all the time? And he saw collectivizing in Germany (full-time planning) as a bad end that people couldn’t see because they missed Germany was Socialist, and had been pretty much for decades; and England was in the beginning stages without knowing it.

I think when people think they are free but they are slaves is more like "The new brave world" of Huxley rather than 1984. I don't know. Lets get the red pill and get the helll out of blue pill matrix in 2023. Let's move the mountains!

You describe the failure of communism well, the Soviet Union's internal contradictions brought it down, so after the Cold War some thought Marxism had disappeared yet a new tyranny has emerged under the guise of postmodernism. So thinkers like Jacques Derrida and the new left promote the concept of deconstruction which is a deeply illberal linguistic philosophy which posits that reality is formed through language so in Western culture the way we construct words historically reveals an inherent hierarchy, racism and patriarchy. This opposes the Enlightenment project to advance liberty describing it as oppression. In many countries the counterculture is now the establishment and they do not like wrongthink. We need Hayek to return to individual rights against those who use identity politics to manipulate others.

Pretty good take on Hayek, his message gets ignored intensely in present day western institutions, Wouldnt be surprised if they set up universities on mountain tops lest they be triggerd by something like a word or an idea. Great big walls is needed to, understandably, its well known that words ca be violence you see

The Climate is a complex system. thats why we don't have a concrete model for it. we cannot even predict the weather for next week. But it is not pseudoscience. it is simply lack of information. in complex systems there are so many variables. let say even when I type I change the climate! 1.000.000 variables, not easy to model it. Therefore there are disagreement on the issue. But our activities has changed the climate, this is a fact, 1% or 10%? here we can discuss. And more co2 more greenhouse effect is scientific. How big the effect is? again not easy to model it.
