    It was never made clear, was it? I thought there were multiple queens designed to fill the need for tactical oversight and "diplomacy", in regards to creating an ambassador like Picard, Data or Seven of Nine. That's my head canon, anyway. How do you command thousands of cubes scattered across a galaxy? Queens. Quite a few of them.

  • @3Rayfire

    @3Rayfire

    @@manictiger No. The Queen always exists and doesn't exist. The Borg aren't something that is "organized", it is a single entity. Each drone is a neuron in a massive intergalactic brain. The Queen is simply a local physical manifestation of the whole. In First Contact, all the drones died when she died because they weren't connected with the rest of the collective. She was the sum totality of that Borg cell. Killing her killed all of them. Matrix style. She couldn't go anywhere so she died. In the present she doesn't have that problem. It does however seem to require special hardware...or wetware to make a Queen though. Also she apparently is only brought out for diplomatic purposes i.e when the Borg need to talk... sometimes.

The Queen's destruction wouldn't mean anything either as she would just body surf to a new unit on another ship. I love Star Wars far more than Star Trek but nothing in that universe scales as hard as the Borg do. @@alienlife7754 a lightsaber would easily cut her down. You're mistaken about how she died in First Contact. It's not that it required the toxic gas in order to kill her, she was simply killed by the gas. The Borg Queen's body is just like any other borg. Captain Picard explained why the toxic gas is used. The reason is because using the gas is just more efficient. It can destroy the organic part of the borg covering a large area, while at the time, does no damage to the surrounding equipments in main engineering. It was the best option to use in killing the borg in the current situation, and not because it was the only way. And as we can in the movie, the borg drones can kill by using physical attacks. It didn't even require a great amount of physical force to kill them either. We saw Data killing the drones with ease. Eventhough Data is an android that possessed strength far beyond that of the average human, that large amount of physical force wasn't required. This is supported by the evidence that Worf is seen killing a couple drones using his phaser rifle as a physical weapon and killing them with just a couple hits.

    "You can't outrun them. You can't destroy them. If you damage them, the essence of what they are remains. They regenerate and keep coming. Eventually you will weaken, your reserves will be gone. They are relentless." -Q I'm willing to concede most points, even the lack of resistance to Vader's lightsaber. After all, even if they are immune to the energy, the sheer blunt force (no pun intended) of Vader swinging the blade would still likely take them out. Transporters are always the deciding factor in Star Trek vs Star Wars fights, though it seems like the Empire adapts far too quickly to the use of this technology, never mind the fact that the Borg have been shown to simply drain shields if they because a hindrance. Even granting that the outcome of the battle, there is still one may point of contention... By your own admission, there are still a thousand cubes out there in the galaxy. The second Death Star won't be completed for another four years. (Even if the Empire forgoes secrecy to increase production, the Empire now has to contend with more limited resources.) Which means the Empire has two weapons against the Borg: Vader and the Emperor; and two men can't be everywhere in the galaxy at once, and Palpatine is unlikely to leave the Core. So the Borg would have roughly four years to rebuild and strike back before the Empire could muster and adequate defense, and even a Death Star can't be everywhere at once, while the Borg would be increasing exponentially. Then there is of course, the honey trap. That wishing to study this new transporter technology and assimilation tech, the Empire probably wouldn't outright destroy all the disabled Borg. Instead Borg tech and nanoprobes are taken to the Maw and other secret Imperial installations, places know to go for years without outside contact. Perhaps they might even try to incorporate Borg tech into the second Death Star project. These seemingly harmless introductions of Borg tech would eventually lead to their reactivation and assimilating the most advanced Imperial technology. "Resistance is futile." -The Collective

    I believe the Borg would ultimately win this fight as well. The Borg have been shown to have multiple Borg Queens throughout the Star Trek franchise. They would have the means of creating another one. "You think in such three-dimensional terms. How small you've become." --Borg Queen, Star Trek: First Contact Further assimilation of the Outer Rim would contribute and growing number of resources and drones to the Collective faster than the Empire could build a 2nd Death Star as resources diminish. As for the two Sith, the Borg after seeing that they would have trouble assimilating them, would just outright kill them. They eventually took the annihilation path against the Federation in the Star Trek novels, if you go that route.

    An imperial victory is unrealistic - I personally think this would be an absolute victory for the Borg, the video exaggerates casualties from them, I highly doubt the Borg would send 2000 Borg cubes in close proximity to the Death Star only to be blown up when the self destruct is initiated, because the Borg send only what is completely necessary - I would have expected only around 1 - 5 cubes, not the entire fleet, as only a few would be required as they were assimilating the ship very quickly as it was. I also think the Borg would have managed to evade that trap in the first place, because they would be aware of the self destruct from the moment it was initiated due to having assimilated the Death Star's operations, I have a feeling they would have managed to beam quite a few drones and the queen to safety and then jump to warp within 20 seconds - the Borg are known for their fast reactions. Anyways, I was pretty happy with the rest if it. Great video.

    The lack of understanding of the Borg has caused you to not realize how deadly efficient they are. The Borg nanites assimilate the bridge crew immediately shutting down what ever ship they are on, star destroyer, death star, etc. One cube does this. The bridges and then the engineering decks are quickly assimilated, before the slow cant see, cant hit target stormtroopers can do much. Nanites spread through the Empires computers, working in concert with the drones. Empirials are locked in sections, with no information as to what is happening. A small group of Borg move through partitioned areas, assembling everyone. Now huge numbers, grow exponentially. A few Empireals realise what is happening and escape in pods. They are quickly grabbed by the cubes tractor beams, which hold them long enough to beam in a drone, quickly assimilating who ever is inside. The main planet blower upper gun is on the top of strategic targets, and never gets a shot off. Large cannons on the surface of the Empire ships fire, and for a few minutes they do damage. The Borg adapt their shields and no more damage on any cube ever occurs again. The cube damage repairs, the Empire ships are completely assimilated. The Borg start transformation the Empire ships into superior Borg ships. The Borg then send one ship to every planet in their know galaxy and assimilate each and every one. The Empire's resistance was useless, they were assimilated. Force users add to the collective as do every conquered planet. Rebels are added as are every other species in the Star Wars galaxy (far far away galaxy). They construct a series of trans warp gates and begin assimilating other galaxies. The Borg are the ultimate users. They take you and your gadgets and use them to capture more. Nothing in the Star Wars universe can compete with them. Nothing.

These fuckers are not the pushovers this video made them out to be. And they would not have sent 2000 Cubes to the Death Star to do the job when at *most* 5 would've done it. it is an interesting scenario but I see a problem with the end. if the Borg were assimilating the death star at a rate of a deck every thirty seconds or so that would mean by the time Tarken had ordered the self-destruct they would have had roughly one quarter to one-third of the station assimilated and very likely had access to the engineering and power systems at that point so unless Tarken had actual explosives to detonate the core the Borg could have detected and stopped the core overload and barring that the queen would have immediately beamed out to one of the cubes and ordered it to leave the blast zone.

    The problem with the "sheilds" being used to trap boarders is the area that was assimilated. Once you control a certain amount of decks and subsystems they would have an understanding of the sheilds then larger gaps would form. Furthermore, borg would be able to walk on the outer surface of the death star gaining access to the super weapon possibly to the core. on top of the shield issue, we don't have much to go on on its structure but the Borg would gather information quickly. the assumption that they would know to modulate sheilds also makes me laugh. lastly, it would have been more efficient to assimilate multiple sections after a foot hold breach then a transporter could be assembled for site to site movement unevaded. on top of that. once in the computer they would understand more about the station and it's weaknesses which they would exploit.

    Palpatine doesn't die. His Imperial Gaurd could've stopped Vader from throwing him over the ledge. All it would've taken was one of them to tackle or whack the severely wounded Vader, thus forcing him to loosen his grip, allowing the Emperor to do one of his crazy flips out of Vaders arms before frying him and his son. This has huge implications, since the Emperor surviving would hold the Empire together for far longer. It's collapse was largely due to the lack of clear leadership resulting in chaos, infighting, and a lack of clear command structure. It also delt a morale blow to the Empire and resulted in political instability. Had the Emperor survived the Empire would've continued to function as a unified entity with a proper and functional military command structure, affording it a much higher degree of stability and a slight morale boost to the canon timeline. The Empire would've survived significantly longer in this event.

    @@dgunner0 There's a phrase in one of the Star Trek episodes (not sure which one) about a mining ship (I think) attacking the Enterprise (again, I think) with 'lasers'. It's regarded as ridiculous, because those weapons are so out of date, they're generations behind even a simple hand phaser. Many Star Trek fans take this and see Star Wars turbolasers and say they're the same thing. That's one possible explanation, but a much more likely one (given the damage seen) is that Star Trek moved from simple, low power lasers to more efficient phasers, while Star Wars found a way to massively power up their lasers into turbolasers, achieving similar levels of power and thus similar weaponry. And yes, this is very focused on the movies, not considering either the devastating weapons seen in later novels or the history of force powers that could redesign life, reanimate the dead, and move entire planets (I think).

    A third installment here would be great. As noted in another comment, there are still Borg on the rim, so in good Borg fashion they would likely withdraw and slowly rebuild with a new queen. The battle with the second Death Star would be inevitable. Vader is a fascinating card in the deck, however, and the Force (both the good and dark sides) is the most unique threat to the Borg in this scenario (assuming it and those endowed with it cannot be assimilated). We do have a reviving Jedi movement, of course, with Obi Wan, Yoda, and the now adult Luke and Leia (both potential future Jedi) as well as the Sith side with the Emperor and Vader. Given the threat level, it would be cool to see a unification of the two sides of the Force. The new Sith-Jedi Alliance results in the final shattering of the Borg and the prophecy of bringing balance to the Force is finally achieved through the unification of the two sides (perhaps this alliance results in both extreme sides being transformed into or "seduced to" a moderate axis of the Force. Ironically, the Borg help bring order and peace to the galaxy.

The borg ships would have all jumped to warp the moment the queen realized that the Death Star was going to blow, 3. The borg still had several thousand cubes in the region. 4. the borg would not have lost its collective consciousness when the queen died, Rather they would have continued to act following established protocols and the queen's last orders until a new queen could be chosen. 5. Vader would have been impossible to beat in and to and combat. But his star destroyer would have been the only thing left of the empire after only a few weeks. And likely would have just been destroyed.

    The empire is too inflexible to be able to handle a threat like the Borg, and most civilizations would have problems to adapt to the Borg since they are adapting very fast. But I doubt that the Borg would care about the inhabitants of Endor, they would go for more interesting targets where they could find new knowledge like the Hutts, Wookies, Utapauns, Dugs, Kaminoans, Toydarians, Geonosians, Mon Calamaris and Zabraks - and gain force knowledge as well while assimilating them. Strategically it would be bad for the Borg to attack the military ships instead of assimilating the planets first and then deplete the support for the military ships to weaken them. The assimilated would also provide information about weak points in the designs of military ships.

    @Craig Gibbons I think that once the Borg realized they were fighting Jedi that had a mysterious power they didn't understand, that they would find a way to assimilate one, learn the secret to unlocking it and end up incorporating it. Even if they couldn't, the Borg could literally send thousands of cubes, each with 130,000 drones in it. After the Jedi purge there were less than 100 jedi left... they could not have withstood the onslaught.

  • @NormanTheDormantDoormat

    @Craig Gibbons That doesn't make much sense. It's a numbers game. If Vader killed 100s of 1000s and a cube has 130 000 drones, then vader kills like 3-5 cubes out of 7000. Meanwhile a single cube can assimilate an entire planet of billions of new drones. Vader can not even REACH a single borg cube to slaughter anyone, because he has to use shuttles. The borg could simply beam anyone into the void or into a sun. And even IF a high enough target could get into a cube and start killing 1000s of drones ... self destruct the cube, done. Heck, the borg even have an assimilation virus that enables them to assimilate planets even easier. The borg are exponential growing and the empire gets defeated by swampboy and his backyard militia.

    One flaw. The Star Trek movies have shown that their computer systems aren't locked down very well. If R2D2 could access as much as it did in the movies then the Borg would have quickly locked down each ship (and Deathstar) that they beamed onto after assimilating their first droid. First Contact showed that gaining control of the main computer is a priority during a Borg invasion.

    @Christian Dauz That was First Contact. The Android, Data used a fractal encryption algorithm to lock the Borg out of the main computer. If he hadn't done that, the Borg would have immediately taken over the systems. Star Wars droids can't do stuff like that. And Data would have been the only one in Starfleet capable of doing it. I'm not certain, however, if Star Trek escape pods require the ship's computer to operate. That may be an independent system. As in the mechanism for releasing the pod being independent of the main computer. That would make sense if you are to have any hope of escaping a damaged ship. But in any case, the Borg were locked out of the main computer at the time the pods were released.

    Borg have weaponized time travel too, their Queen is more cunning than just showing up on the deathstar and getting killed in a brute "force" attack (sorry lol) of this magnitude without a side plan. They could very well go back in time and assimilate the entire Gungan population when they first evolved... I guess that wouldn't really help them though. Also, they could very well find that a few of the people/infants on these planets they assimilated are actually force sensitive. They could literally try and assimilate the mitochlorians themselves and then project force powers from their cubes.

    When have they ever shown the ability to remodulate shields in Star Wars? Also even if they could it would be pointless until they got rid of all the drones and all the computers that the Borg compromised because the drones would be telling their ships what frequencies they've set their shields to. Also why would the Borg Queen be in the Death Star? Also once the Borg assimilated information about the Death Star they wouldn't bother going for the main control room they'd just find the most direct circuit pathways and energy distribution channels available to them to start the interruption of the weapon and over all base operations.

  • @Sandokiri

    Star Wars shields don't *use* frequencies; nor do their weapons, so the Borg have nothing to adapt *to*.

  • @Doublebarreledsimian

    @Doublebarreledsimian

    7 жыл бұрын

    The Borg adapt to the energy type. The Frequency re-modulating was just the Trek people trying to get their weapons to work against the Borg again. If Star Wars tech doesn't incorporate frequency harmonic changes in their plasma weapons or shields then it'll be far easier for the Borg to adapt.

  • @Sandokiri

    @Sandokiri

    7 жыл бұрын

    The frequency re-modulating works (at least until the Borg catch on and re-adapt), which proves that Borg adaptation is frequency-based and cannot be energy-type based. Were it energy-type based, then it wouldn't matter if your Nadion Beam Gun cycles at 100KHz, or 120 KHz. Now, it *may* be possible to adapt (to a limited extent) to non-frequency weapons; but if we grant that it's possible, the shield would need to operate without a frequency. The problem this would lead to is, in part, the advantage of frequency: since the Borg can quickly propagate a shield setting to optimize mitigation against a given threat, they can run an optimized shield at fairly low power (since you only need your peak shielding when the enemy's weapon is peaking.) But if the threat has no frequency, then the Borg either needs an always-on shield (of what strength?) which may be rougher on the drone's power sully, or an additional system to activate the shield on an automatic proximity basis. Not insurmountable problems, of course. And even then, adaptation is not immunity; nor is it reasonable to argue that it would work against several weapon types (slugthrowers, railguns, flamethrowers, simple explosives, etc) that Star Trek would never think of using due to being "primitive and savage", but have seen canonical use in Star Wars. I think the outcome is unclear, and that a lot of it hinges on how the encounter ends up starting; but Borg myths (and the "nav deflectors are immune to lasers" argument)... need to go.

  • @Doublebarreledsimian

    @Doublebarreledsimian

    7 жыл бұрын

    Borg adaptation isn't just frequency based. They've shown it to be energy type as well. Portrayed in Voyager episode Unimatrix Zero pt II; Both Voyager and a Borg sphere controlled by Free Borg attack a Tactical Cube and the Cube does adapt to Both ships fire. At least for a while until it is sabotaged. 2 ships with 2 different weapon types and most likely frequencies. The Borg also adapt to the same kind of energy weapon's Power increase as seen in Enterprise and in TNG Best of Both Worlds. Actually in that episode its unclear if the main deflector also fired a similar energy type as a phaser emitter. Also if the Borg only adapted to frequencies then how the did they assimilate so many species that use everything from disruptors, plasma, phasers or tetryon based weapons? The Borg have assimilated thousands of species. Some of them even use plasma weapons like the Romulans and the Borg have managed to assimilate their colonies and ships as well. Isn't that what the Empire use? Plasma weapons?

  • @Sandokiri

    @Sandokiri

    7 жыл бұрын

    The problem is, if it's "energy type" based, then there's no reason to suppose that frequency COULD allow the Federation to get in some extra shots. As for Best of Both Worlds, there's another unclarity: it seems that Shelby's tactic was countered not by adaptation, but by assimilating Picard and learning of the tactic, then preparing a suitable defence. Keep in mind that the tactic WAS frequency-based, as during the random-frequency phaser attacks, one (the one Shelby wanted to use) was particularly resonant with the Borg systems, causing significant EM disruption to the cube. As for the other assimilations: we only know that they happened. We don't know whether adaptation was the key to their victory, or whether other tactics were involved. And "adapting to magnitude" (power increase) is impossible; again, you're limited by how much power you have available and the peak output of your shield generators / weapon systems. If you have a peak shield output of 1.05 GW, then it doesn't matter that you've adapted to "particle energy"; 400 GW of particle energy will get through. Now from the Battle of Sector 001 (STFC), we know that - much like the Death Star - its defensive capabilities are considerably above those of several Federation ships, though not comprehensive; as such, Picard was able to direct the ships to focus fire on a given weakness. To be fair, the Borg may have left it intentionally as their real goal was to send their time-travelling mini-sphere to 21st century Earth; allowing Starfleet to destroy the rest of the cube would be useful as a distraction (at least if Picard weren't nearby to intercept the plan.) So we're left with the question of how much shield dissipation a cube has, and how much power Imperial turbolasers can muster. --Out of world, this is what happens when you combine Trek's tendency to invent new solutions to every problem, with using *zombies* as a recurring threat. As such, "adaptation" has certainly slid from a tension-building defence (our weapons don't work; we need a better solution) to a magical power. At its most extreme, in fact, some Apocryphal materials have the Borg adapting to trans-phasic random-phasic planet killer weapons. And sadly, it has the side effect of causing people to bring magic into discussions that should be resolvable by science. (And yes, I do appreciate the irony of my saying this in ST vs. SW, wherein the latter actually DOES have magic, in the form of Force phenomena. (: )

    The problems I see here: There is no reason for the Borg queen to transport to Death Star. There are other cubes around that she would have transported to. In First Contact, the Enterprise was the only option for escape. Not the case here. Next, I'm not seeing the Borg building their hub complex out in the open. We already know they have built hubs in nebulas or somewhere concealed. Next, I believe the Borg would have already assimilated knowledge of the midichlorians and the Force and analyzed it and studied it since Lucas made sure there is a scientific explanation to the Force being a physical component and not supernatural or religious in nature. Therefore, the Borg probably would have also assimilated the midichlorians aa well and began putting them into drones to use the Force. I refer this back to "Plato's Stepchildren" where Kirk acquired the power to fight Parman and have twice the strength. The Borg would have already assimilated and built hyper jump technology as well. They would therefore have warp, transwarp and hyper systems installed. Finally, from Revenge of the Sithe, we know that storm troopers can be programmed to change their missions and tactics. The Borg would have assimilated that knowledge of the clones and turned stormtroopers into their own drones without even needing to assimilate or fight them. The Galactic Empire has no chance at winning against the Borg.

    Your assumptions of Borg tactics are very disappointing. The Borg, upon realizing that the Death Star was around and capable of taking them out with ease, they would avoid being targets at all cost. Also, you got rid of a lot of Borg vessels by building that complex, which they would not have built until they were sure they were in control of the larger area. And that was simply not the case. Additionally, since the Empire is unfamiliar with beaming technology, there would be know way for them to know how to adjust the shields to stop it. And even then, the Borg are known for adapting to such changes very quickly. And even if the Empire did know to adjust the shields, it is very unlikely that they would have been able to adjust them to an effective degree. And then we come back to the Borg adjusting to the prevention effort. ALSO, the Borg are known for going from planet to planet, getting as much information as possible, and assimilating as many locals as they could. Thus, upon entering the galaxy, their numbers would increase quickly, and they would gain valuable technological and strategic intel very quickly. With that in mind, they would not commit their full forces to building a space structure or confronting the Empire head on. If anything, they would send a few ships to determine the strength of the Empire, thus keeping them occupied longer while they continued to assimilate planets and technology.

    You forget that the mind is the source of power, the source of the energy. But it does not specifically imply that the mind's energy stays in its original form after being channeled through the crystal. This is especially noticeable if the laws of thermodynamics applies to that universe, which it does for Star Trek. What is more likely is that the mind provides energy to the blade, in whatever form is required. In this case, to be effective as a blade, it needs to shine and cut. So the energy is mostly in the form of heat, and whatever holds it in place. Such energy in that form can be repelled by a shield. If your argument is that the telekinesis of the force was channeled through the crystal to pierce the skin and tech of the Borg, then sorry, I cannot take your argument seriously.

  • @QuantumLeaper25

    @QuantumLeaper25

    7 жыл бұрын

    Why would the two universes not be compatible? Especially when the law that says work creates waste energy should apply to Star Wars as much as Star Trek. Nothing in the franchise says otherwise. The energy, thus the potential to do work, generated by the crystal or flowing through it, whether or not it works for the Sith, can only manifest in certain forms. You think it is extra special that the energy is coming directly from the force user. But that doesn't matter. That just means that it has more power. Whether it's 100 dollars or 200 dollars, it is still money that has only one use. The blade is meant to contain energy that can burn/melt through things, but still remain solid. The energy must be contained by something like a force field(to use ST terminology). As such, when it hits another force field, like the one shown in The Phantom Menace, it cannot penetrate it. And there is nothing stopping the Borg drones from generating such a field. As for Species 8472, the fact that the Borg could not assimilate them had NOTHING to do with them using biological technology. If anything, the Borg are experts at that. The problem for them was that Species 8472 had an INCREDIBLY advanced immune system. The Borg couldn't assimilate them because the nanoprobes were immediately destroyed. PLUS, whether the Kyber crystals are alive or not, it has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the Borg can adapt to the type of energy they are using. It is the blade that they need to adapt to, and as I explained, there is every reason to assume that they could.

The same problem that the Borg would suffer if they actually did come to the Star Wars universe is the same problem the CIS suffered from. Their entire existence depends on that. You remove that connection and they become nothing. All the CIS or the Empire has to do to defeat the Borg is simply jam all communications and they instantly win any and all battles against the borg. He would be the brain of a force wielding death cube that would be unstoppable, by combining the death star tech and Vader's control of the force into Borg tech. He could force strangle entire fleets and crush them. He could mentally target the death cube. Vader's new suit would BE the death cube. He could reach out with the force and USE the force THROUGH any borg drone. He would become stronger than the queen. Vader and the Queen would become the new Sith lords. The Borg world have learned everything about the empire's technology, the species of the galaxy, hyperspace lanes, etc. Transwarp and hyperspace appear to be similar methods of travel in addition to thestandard Borg warp capabilities. The Borg would certainly have collapsed the hyperspace lanes near where they created their hub and the death star's first shot even if effective which is questionable would have been their last. Once the Borg were on board the death star, it too would be assimilated. The storm troopers would be easily overrun. Even Vader would be assimilated fairly quickly. His lightsaber would be nearly useless and sheer numbers would bring him down. If he became a persistent threat the entire ship he was on would be destroyed. I see no scenario where the empire would win or even pose any true resistance

    I feel like you’re the only person here that truly gets how strong the Borg are, but I must say your opinion of the empire is quite low. A lot of the gaps are filled in the legends stories which is still considered cannon by MANY fans even if Disney says it’s not. That’s the empire this man is referencing and they are also extremely powerful. Also I don’t think Borg shields could adapt to a lightsaber. It’s essentially a living crystal and the wielder of the saber can use the force to enhance it, and themselves in many ways. This is because the force connects all living beings including the crystals. The Death Star uses these same crystals btw. I think both Vader and the emperor could easily cut swaths through hundreds If not thousands of drones with relative easy, they are extremely powerful Sith Lords and have great experience in warfare. Also, there’s only ever 2 living sith at a time because of the rule of 2 so they are use to being outnumbered and could wage extremely effective guerrilla warfare tactics. This fight I think would go in the empires favor simply because of the fact that the Borg really couldn’t stop these 2 so I really don’t think assimilating the Death Star is possible. Good luck taking them out in CQB

    @@nicholasperry2302 the thing is, in the instance where the Empire proves to be too much of a hassle to assimilate, The Borg would end up glassing or destroying worlds from orbit with very powerful weapons and would no longer attempt to assimilate meaning if Vader and Palpatine actually managed to piss the Borg off, they would be faced with thousands of Cubes over the planet they attempt to hide on being fired upon continuously until no life signs were detected on the planet and they would also obliterate any and all vessels attempting to escape or defend the planet. So, if Palpatine is on Courascant, and if it proves to be too much of a hassle to assimilate the city planet, the borg end up continuously firing away at the planets surface until no life remains. Read Star Trek: Destiny trilogy to really understand how terrifying The Borg are when it comes to just laying waste to an entire galaxy. In the book they literally pushed The Federation back to Earth, laying waste to all Federation planets in their way despite losing thousands of cubes to Quantum Torpedoes which, for a time, were the Borgs Achilles (for a while, the Borg were completely unable to adapt to the torpedo) hell, The Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulan Empire, Vulcans, Dominion, and Cardashians massed thousands of starships at the point the Borg were invading the Alpha Quadrant to try and stop The Borg. Guess what, the Borg literally plowed through all those starships destroying a vast majority of them and leaving the rest basically drifting without any power and that is without firing a single shot, just ramming through them and heading towards Earth. The Empire is royally fucked.

The queen would never be so easily duped. 3. The tide of the battle seems to have turned when the shields were modulated, but I know of nowhere in Star Wars where shield modulation was a thing. So I don't know that they have such technology or would know to use it as a strategy in time to counter the Borg invasion. 4. The moment the queen figured that a trap was set, she would have transported to the nearest safe cube. 5. But that would not even be necessary, because she cannot die, unless every single drone in every part of the multi-verse was destroyed. They would simply make another body for her to occupy. And I would assume they have already calculated for that possibility and put in place contingencies. They are after all, the Borg.

And the material of Star Wars ships and weapons available is sketchy at best. So you almost have to set some ground rules at the beginning concerning what sources you rely on, etc. Maybe Wookieepedia for Star Wars and Memory Alpha for Star Trek. That might not match the episodes and films perfectly, but you need to have some sort of source you can easily refer to and concede that your scenario is only as good as those sources. A disclaimer up front works well enough to cover your ass on that one.

    The empire had never demonstrated the tactics of modulating shields to prevent beaming technology so they wouldn’t think of it so quickly. And I highly doubt Tarkin would destroy the Death Star in that fashion

    One thing that is forgotten and really really important. After the Borg assimilate one Stromtrooper.... they will permanently have horrible aim, missing every shot....

    The Borg may not be able to adapt to the force, but they can kill anything that gets in their way. Bye bye Darth Vader!

    To add to my original comment: The Borg acquire the "technological and Biological distinctions" from what they assimilate. So if Vader is assimilated, then so are his mdichlorines. Then the Borg have access to the Force. Borg wins again.

    I'm normally not one for these debates, but the Borg would easily destroy the Empire. Vader could kick ass in melee, and presumably Palpatine's force lighting would have no answer from the Borg, but it wouldn't be enough. On to the most important thing about this matchup, it brings together two of the most intimidating and badass things in all of Sci-Fi -- the imperial march and the Borg greeting.

    Sorry, but There's no Canon evidence of Star Wars having shield frequencies or shield harmonics to rotate/modulate.

    If SW shields and weapons don't have frequencies or harmonics to rotate/modulate then Borg shields have nothing to adapt to.

    Which makes it an impossible comparison. Either that, or you can look at it as SW shields and weapons having only one frequency, meaning that only one adaptation by the Borg would render all SW shields and weapons useless against them.

    I was like.. Wait a mintue. Those SW ships can't remodulate their shields... That is just cheating. Borrowing stuff from Star Trek to give the Empire an advantage.

    MrReek26: Again, having shields that don't modulate makes it HARDER for the Borg to penetrate. ST shields modulate so the ships can fire through their own shields like how machine guns on old WW1 planes are linked up with the propeller. Star destroyer shields don't work that way. They open small holes in the shields to fire through. Like opening a window to shoot through then closing it while you reload. So if your shields don't modulate, there's no frequency to adapt to, which means the Borg have to over power the shields through brute force.

    They may have survived the first wave of Borg, but they will ultimately lose because the Borg have the plans for the Death star within the collective.

    Wait a second... So in the end, the Empire’s best weapon is gone and a new one won’t be built for months/years. A significant portion of The Empire’s fleet is destroyed and you still have about 1,000 borg cubes wandering around on auto-pilot assimilating worlds (the loss of a queen really doesn’t matter). This doesn’t look good for the Star Wars universe in the long run.

    as much as i can remember. in the Star Wars universe they never exhibited the ability to modulate their shields or weapons. for that matter. i am not even sure if they even HAVE shields. so, there is a major hole in that story. a good story nonetheless. however i seriously doubt the Borg queen would ever board the DeathStar nor would she even be in that fleet of cubes. remember they seem to be able to communicate instantaneously regardless of distance so long as there is a connection. she would likely have remained at the Borg home sector and simply commanded from there. so there is another hole. for that matter. it is likely that the queen never leaves home, even if her surrogate body does. so even IF she had been there and boarded the DeathStar. destroying that body wouldn't matter. i am a fan of both stories. in fact i am a big fan of anything sci-fi space related. so im not particularly bias here. **EDIT** apparently star destroyers do have shields. not that you ever see them in use and the effects of them considering almost every battle scene ever features ships shooting at eachother making direct hits and small fighters simply flying up to them shooting off turrets.

    The shields in star wars are based on energy levels of incoming attacks. They usually hold off a few main weapon shots from enemy ships, but small fighters and their blasters can just go through. This is why fighters with bombs are a thing: They need to drop the bombs inside of the enemy shields, otherwise they get stopped.
