The Emergency Halter - How to create a halter for a loose horse - Dr. Susan Raymond

In this video Susan Raymond demonstrates how to halter a loose horse using a length of rope as an emergency halter.
00:00 Start
00:10 Introduction
00:59 Tie a loop at the end of the rope
01:04 Always approach a horse in a calm relaxed manner
01:11 Place the loop end over the horse’s neck, right behind the ears
01:22 Pull the middle section of the rope through the loop to form another loop (this will go over the nose)
01:33 Slip the second loop over the horse’s nose making sure the nose loop is snug and sitting just below the cheek bones
01:44 You can now lead the horse or place a more secure halter on the horse
01:50 Always keep your eye on the horse and the halter, to ensure it stays snug enough that the loop does not slip down over the nose
01:59 To remove the emergency halter - slip the nose loop off the nose and pull the rope
