That was really funny when she said that. It may not be possible at every location site, but I was thinking about "butting" another identical unit and you could have a living area, and a bedroom. That may not be considered a tiny home but very livable for two people.

As the baby boomers age, we are increasingly in need of easy to maneuver, ADA, and ADU units. it is much better for an older person in my opinion to be in the backyard of someone who cares about them and for them rather than being in a facility of any kind unless absolutely necessary. Grandma will almost always be happier among her loved ones. not to mention the stress of caring for an elderly person. You're not living with them your living next to them. Huge difference.

Can use the space for a longer bathroom that can accommodate a 4' roll-in shower, with toilet and sink on the opposite side, and 3-1/2 feet in between to maneuver. Then hire ITH to build the kitchen cabinets lower and less deep, like Randy described, with room for a fridge & vented combo W/D on the opposite wall, and a ramp outside up to a porch deck.

It would be great to partner with an assisted living facility for the elderly or disabled. Maybe in the future that could happen. This is also great for an elderly parent or parents to put in the yard of their adult child that is trying to keep their parents at home instead of a nursing home and still maintain their own family life. They could even add a box for when they may need a sitter to stay nights with them. So many great ideas for this particular model. Y’all are such good people with such good hearts . 🙏😁💕

This keeps being touted as an answer to affordable housing, and it of course is affordable to a bunch of us, but I bought it simply because I like the idea of those panels not hitting landfill AND I can pretty it up myself! Just like Randy, not all of us are poor who buy these, some of us value the sustainability and DIY factor of the Incrediboxes! And Randy: give up that Elon Musk comparison! Yeah, he's got a bunch more money and a few high falutin' ideas, but he is nowhere near as considerate of other humans as you are. And that's kind of an understatement. 😉

I used to be the superintendent in a manufacturing plant. Part of running a profitable business is production scheduling. You run what you need for X number of weeks. Then you have to do a change over in the manufacturing plant which is time consuming, and it causes loss of production. Then you do that run and repeat the process. Downtime is never the friend of the producer, but wise scheduling can decrease the negative impact.

My Mom spent the last year of her life in assisted living. This would be great for the elderly. It would be great if an assisted living company would make a community with several of these in a beautiful setting and in the center have one for the director and nursing staff and they could go to each one to give meds and ect. My Mom would have loved this compared to the little bedroom they called her apartment. You would feel more independent and have better privacy. Actually some time ago before the Incred-i-Box & Incred-i-Cottage, Randy Jones envisioned a section of ADA compliant tiny homes set in a circle around a common deck a or community care house area that could all be accessible by wheelchairs &/or walkers. If I recall it was somewhat like ADA compliant Tiny Houses as like spokes on a old wooden wheel with a ADA compliant tiny house care station in the middle. He even drew a rough drawing of it in a video. It's a Wonderful Idea and would be Wonderful Addition to more than one community there. What Do You Think?

The thing about ADA compliant is getting into the dwelling. For every inch of rise, there needs to be a foot length in a ramp. So for a one foot rise from ground to door, there would have to be a 12 foot ramp. That can get cumbersome quickly in a limited area and needs to be considered.

  • @michaelclark4357

    @michaelclark4357

    Жыл бұрын

I would have to look that up as we are not sure what the run & rise specifications for a ADA Compliant Wheelchair Ramp are as of todays, Friday June 23, 2023 day posting. I would like to measure & take some photo's of a not too far away aluminum wheelchair ramp that winds up to a old house front porch on its left side & front that is maybe table height(30") or a 2.5 ft rise. It is in 3 sections, first to the back on the side of the house then a small landing with a 180 degree u turn to the right, then to the front, then a 90 degree small landing turn to the left to beside the front of the porch, then a 90 degree left turn to on the front porch. I will have to measure them but it looks like that each of the three sections/run of ramp is less than 12 feet each. If each one third section of ramp was 10 feet at one inch rise per foot, then each section's 10 inches of rise would be enough for the 30 inches or 2.5 feet of total rise needed. For the ITH Tiny Houses I think the rise to the floor is close to 24 inches or 2 ft which means the amount of ramp needed would be simpler and a good bit less with maybe only two ramp runs needed instead of three if there was enough space besides the tiny house. Good to see this conversation! We are on it! 👍😄

@michaelclark4357 Great that you are looking into it! When you are looking into ramp possibilities, check for size requirements for a landing and a turn in the ramp. I'm sure that you all, being builders, have those codes readily available. Accessible housing, as well as affordable housing, is so needed, and I appreciate all you are doing there.

A Retractable Bed up to the bottom of the loft(in the 20 ft) or to the ceiling(16 ft) would be more efficient than a murphey bed. However a much much Simpler &much cheaper DIY Project with no power needed for actuators is a Fold Up Murphey Bed with a side or end fold up. I would prefer a side fold up as that is simpler & easier to do and it will take up less distance of floor space from the wall when folded down.

What is that silver metal tube outside of the house in back of where the bathroom for? Does it have something to do with the tank-less water heater?

I really want a tiny home. I’ve lived in shared housing for years. I know I can live small. I also have lived in a minimal way in multiple homes in the last 5 years. I know I need 450 square feet and no stairs. I can install cabinets and closets myself. Can you make a 10x45? I’m following your channel.

They should be 16’ wide as this is the width of a mini home in Canada and a should also be no less than 26’ long, preferably 40’

I’m with Amanda. Over the gray. Use lighter color like light oak. . It doesn’t show the dirt that much. Dark colors shows all the dirt. Love all you do. You really need to consider the elderly and Veterans on a limited income. I have considered finding old mobile home park that went under and buy your homes to place on the already developed pads with all the hook ups. Only for the elderly and Veterans and have a little store and laundry place for them to shop and do there laundry. Or for a small fee they would do there laundry for them. It’s sad how the USA doesn’t help the elderly and Veterns. My daughter works for a wonder fcompany “Veterns United” that buy tiny homes for Veterans all over. I wish all company’s could contribute to the ones that really need an affordable home. Our Government is too selfish. Other countries like Sweden takes wonderful care of their elderly. Just saying. Have a blessed day. Make those ADA homes. They will be a blessing to many.

A lot of very wealth people in this country do not want to be taxed in order that the poor are taken care of.

Just because they ask a question doesn’t mean they will buy one. You are trying to keep prices down. You could save orders up and do a run of ADA compliant, but don’t ruin your production by trying to do this for everybody.

I have my eye on a Birmingham but if I can't afford that my dream would be 3 incredicottages or a combination of 3 incredibox/add a boxes to make a three-sided home with separate entrances. Our sons would be a complete unit his own studio. Ours would be a master bedroom and bath in one and a main living and kitchen in the other, making it a complete family home with privacy

We are wanting to do a place for battered woman with children, mothers with children living on the street and veterans. Set up a community that is a helping hand up. Not a hand out. Do you have tiny homes being built out west. Around Arizona, Nevada, or Colorado. I have to buy the land . Do I need to set up the electric? Set up sewar, trash water lines? We would work with community services, state services, law enforcement, federal government, trade schools, community colleges, ect. But we just need the small tiny homes. Finished. They wont be permanently living there. A place for transition. In your community can you fence in you yard? I have a dog and he needs room to run. Love you guys. ❤
