Agreed - though the backhanded "pretty" kinda sucked tbh. Crafty is damn hard to represent visually because of how wordy and abstract his descriptions were and you guys nailed it - a much, much better visual representation than the big(ish)-budget Nic Cage "Colour out of Space".

@@MatthewHyatt @knightswoodgaming606 Bruh. You guys be reading way too hard into a compliment. This guy genuinely appreciated and enjoyed watching the video and because of the way he expressed it you're going to shit on him for pedantic use of words? The only aggressiveness here was you and my response to your ill take on someone else's compliment. And a false equivalence fallacy to boot. One doesn't have to create content to have the right to give commentary on content. What a high horse you must be riding. This video was exceptional in my view, and anyone can express their appreciation or unsatisfaction however they want. That feedback helps content creators, they need people to give their opinions so they can figure out how to improve and reach wider audiences to gain more earnings and fuel more of their content. Of course you are still free to be critical of such commentary if you wish, just as I am free to be critical of your response to them. They did do a pretty good job, they also did a great job. These statements do not conflict, nor do they imply aggressiveness.

Fantastic storytelling from the Legend of Cthulhu & those that messed with things best left hidden. It's a Pandora's box of Evil with intent . Just as many before, her once opened there's no turning back as we see & all things lead to one of three things for the finder , insanity, death , or worse you bring him back . Evie plays these roles very well & with not much dialog she has the ability to use facial expressions that will leave us as baffled as she is as to what ,where & why & that's a trick of the masters before we had talkies. I loved the fact no matter how many religious icons she tries they are all designed to fail as this is older than any human religion & it doesn't care as it already knows there is nothing to stop what she started even if she never meant to. I do love these Cosmic Horror shorts & films as an avid reader of Lovecraft & August Derleth . They would be proud .

So... after that thing in her basement, the haunted piano, the creepy mask that pulled her downstairs and incident with the cassette, she finally left her house. Just to find this box in her new home. Well, that's what I call "really bad luck"! Great film, by the way. I don't know that much about Lovecraft, but at least a few things and despite a few insider-details I think I got the point of the story.

Read "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", "The Dunwich Horror" and "Call of Cthulhu".... the most important aspects are there. Maybe start with "Dagon", an early work (1919, I think) that lays out the basic premise: there were and ARE ancient unknown things...

Oh My God!!! 🔥🔥🔥 I don't think that I have ever seen anything on screen that comes as close as this short film did to capture the true essence of cosmic horror. A true Lovecraftian adaptation that masterfully captures the spine chilling terror behind his cosmic horror literature. ❤️❤️❤️ Be it the demonic characters or the complex settings, translating Lovecraftian work on screen is near to impossible. But you guys have done such an amazing job and I think Lovecraft himself would have been ecstatic about this movie. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥 The camerawork felt extremely professional and the editing made it a damn engaging ride. The scary bits actually felt scary. And what I really loved is that how silence and slow tense music was used to convey fear. The extensive emphasis on subtleties and imagery over the minimal usage of dialogues felt befitting. Absolute masterpiece and I feel that I have seen a horror short film that is actually scary after so long. ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥 I would absolutely recommend watching it to everyone I know. Great job guys and do keep up the good work!! 👍👍 ❤️❤️

I guess i'm too low brow or somethin but i was confused the whole time. Saw the Cthulu stuff, but the scene transfers to a random blob from a temple...castle...fort we dont see. I'm still confused. Why is she in jail. Why do the jails bars have lovcraftness to it instead of regular steel bars. I got nothin outta this. Looks pretty though. CGI was great, acting etc. Nothing happened though. The dreams are so well done, the sceneries have this organic vibe, like stone or mud, it doesn't look artifical at all but really... real. And the skies are incredible, with the emptiness of this eternal wind blowing in those cold, hostile spaces... Well done, it's not easy to render Lovecraft in a cinematographic way !

One thing I would like to point out is, in my opinion, computer-generated scenes presented on KZread can often appear terrible when placed beside 'real' footage. However, I thought the imagery of the strange realms presented in this story were really good. Just a couple of little suggestions though. When an actress lies down for a scene in which she is supposed to be sleeping, don't have her hair laying in a way that looks like she just lowered her head ten seconds before the camera started filming. Mess her hair a little and have her, in the lying position, press on her hair under her head and trust it back and forth, so it has that 'slept on' look. Otherwise, it interferes with the believability of the scene. Also, a camera angle should tell us something, or aid in the revelation of what is being displayed. There are moments, particularly when she is first opening the box (that is strangely free of dust and detritus after laying in a chimney for years!) when the angle dissolves rather than propels the sense of mystery. But, aside from these small gripes, I think this is a fine piece of work. :) Offered with respect.

Really, really nice images in this. The title glow around the letters was so good and soft and whispy then it kind of foreshadowed the look of the sky in later shots of Cthulhu land uh, water? Took some time to draw out that journal, too. Someone had some patience. Imagine reading the Cthulhu story BEFORE we had any way of exploring the oceans. This would be even more terrifying because you couldn't just wave it off as impossible because we already have mapped most of the ocean floor distances and filmed nearly everything but in 1930s.... man, it would scar me for life just like seeing Jaws in the theater for the first time when it first was shown in 1975. I cannot with the ocean for that reason alone. Lovecraft knew that humans had the same primal fears as any other of the animals. Something huge and lumbering 50 feet tall from black unknown depths of the ocean would frighten anyone back then. It's still a frightening concept even though now we know better about the ocean and outer space. The only monsters that really exist anymore are the two-legged kind. Far more frightening than anything in fictional stories, I say.

As Lovecraft pointed out in his works, the Eldritch gods and beings were creatures of Chaos, a force that is both creative and destructive and largely without much limits. Humanity is driven mad by the sight of them, and all that is order and logic destroyed by them, hence the protective bubble our universe exists in. But oh, what a fragile bubble it is, and we humans are far too easily manipulated and played by these beings.

I always appreciate when Lovecraftian themed movies are brought into contemporary contexts. To adapt these stories to modern thinking with modern characters (yes a female main character in a Lovecraft- based story is very progressive and modern in contrast to some of H.P Lovecraft's personal opinions back in the day) prolongs the Lovecraftian timeline and significance for the horror community. Well done.

Having an organized collection of perfect memories of everything in your life including traumatic events. It honestly sucks. Anyway your comment made me think of that. Have a good day.

The visuals were awesome and truly Lovecraftian without a doubt. Just, the end. I found myself looking at her through those rusty old 19th century-type mental hospital for the criminally insane prison door window bars and trying to make up some kind of murder spree between that scene and her waking from the full-frontal Azathoth dream to justify her being there. Maybe you're saving it for the feature-length film, yeah?
