The economizer. What does it do? Part 1
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This one is the first of the economizer series. This video is part of the heating and cooling series of training videos made to accompany my websites: www.graycoolingman.com and www.grayfurnaceman.com to pass on what I have learned in many years of service and repair. If you have suggestions or comments they are welcome.
If you are a homeowner looking to repair your own appliance, understand that the voltages can be lethal, the fuels are highly flammable and high pressures are used. Know your limits.

Great lesson! Did not know about the AC at cold outdoor temp.. I'm a residential contractor.. thanks!
Also for balancing the building? Glad your touching on this subject as they are so misunderstood. Thanks.
GFM it's kinda funny how others who explain the economizer simply explain them as vents to bring in Fresh Air. The presence of an economizer, as well as the name, suggest it's benefits are substantial. I'm all ears for this series as well. Thanks for taking us over this one.Greg

Got it (!) "Just what the doctor ordered." Over on "big building AC" channel they were trying to cool a server room at 36-degrees ambient and kept talking about "economizers". [And everybody watching it who didn't know what an economizer was starts thinking 'why are they AC-ing inside air when it's 36 degrees outside?' Makes sense now -- customer didn't want to pay for an "economizer". Thanks. ]
Thank you for your videos. I like them a lot. I am learning a lot too.

These are used a lot in cell phone towers (base building). They produce so much heat they have to run AC during the winter.

I want to know how to disable that giant dirt sucking monster. in west texas those just cause trouble with dirt and sand not to mention rooftop odors. I want to disable them in the sping summer and fall.

Not sure how everything works, but I do remember my junoir high and high school, cooling in the summer, but the building would be under positive pressure. y ou could smell the outside air mixed with the air cond. i'm sure in the cooling off seasons, they simply economized. i realize there is a minimum amount of fresh air required for occupants under normal conditions. i'm sure i won't see any notifications responses in my inbox on youtube if anyone responds..what is wrong with youtube these days?
hi, so this is only used in cooling mode? thanks.

Yes. Commercial buildings often will need cooling into the 40sF. GFM
