The Echo Chamber Effect
In the digital world, echo chambers are created when algorithms use your browsing history to predict what types of content you’ll engage with most. They’re fueled in part by confirmation bias, which is the tendency to favor info that reinforces existing beliefs. This can limit our access to information and distort our worldview.
Find out how Ground News can help you escape the echo chamber: ground.news/blackpigeon

Things went bad when they started using content relevancy algorithms.

@@DMEGC I can try. In the past, you would subscribe or follow someone and the content engines would let you know whenever that person published something new. Somewhere along this process they figured out that if they could tweak the algorithms to surface the most compelling, "relevant" content to us, that would make our consumption experience better, and it worked remarkably well. Consuming hours content skyrocketed. It's not just popular content, it's popular content that you, as mere user profile, are most likely to click on. Facebook, Twitter, Insta, everything, became "stickier." However, the problem is related to the evolution of the human mind. We evolved to be biased towards noticing and alerting for that snake in the grass. Being on the look out for something that doesn't seem right or out of place. We notice, react, and remember the car accident on the side of the road of this morning's commute. Right? It's natural. It's how humans learned to survive and evolve. Ok, so effectively, we are predisposed to clicking on the stuff that seems odd, wrong, inflammatory, etc. And, of course, these content algorithms just serve up more and more of that stuff. You take this across hundreds of millions of people online, and you create negative reinforcing echo chambers that drag us all further into polarizing opinions.

Best explanation ever!!!! Thanks A LOT!!!
I hope this takes off! Thanks Nate the Lawyer!
It is 3.08pm in Central Europe, Saturday June 1st 2024. I have just right now come across your platform. It seems that you are what I have been wordlessly wishing for! Just saying: we want what is and wish for what is not. For example: I want to reconcile my living expenses, which I still can. I wish I had a bit more … don’t see that happening! That you are still “out-there” suggests that I am not alone. I’ll just be following up for a while (say: one week) and then, if you are what I wish for, I’ll spread the word. Thanks for the glimmer of hope, good will and rock-bottom intelligence.
Did you stop posting videos? Your latest video is two years old!
This sounds amazing

Hello, thanks for the interesting and beautiful video, great channel! Good luck!!!👌

I can't understate how great this platform you've made is
The 10 videos that you posted after this one are a different format. My phone doesn't work right with it. Please use the format of this video more often.
Does ground news do news from around the world? Ik I live in America but I like watching a youtuber by the name of friendlyjordies and he covers politics for Australia (cause he lives there) and I’d be interested to read the news not only from the us but from Australia and Europe as well.
Thank you for this Chanel, the lame street news has been compromised And propagandized
I havent been able to view any of your newest news items on my phone other than thru my g.mail.... Id much prefer to get it here on my KZread site... Please can you fix it so your programming like this video has an updated content.. Before this video the newest info here was 11 months old and older. Thanks.im tried of trying to sort the garbage from the truth.

Does ground news comply with Bill C-18 in Canada?
Here ye here ye ground.news/blackpigeon
15.29 (= 3.29pm) p.s. I am a digital embryo. You Tube is as savvy as it gets, for me. I have zero soshullmedia. My phone is a very old Nokia, so no smartfone. Doesn't mean I'm stupid. Just poor. I am also not lazy, dirty and stupid.
Any data on wether the users of ground need are left leaning or right leaning??

Alex Jones said he is neither left nor right, a trillion times over, because there is no left or right, also said a trillion times over. So I am neither left nor right. That is why I am a Reductionist & American Green & Atheist Antinatalist Animal Rights Vegan (AAARV) and supporter of oppressed or silenced groups: LGBTQ, Socialists, Communists, Marxists, Auditors, Anarchists, Sovereign Citizens, Separatists, Transhumanists. I just hate conservatives and conservatism and extremist nationalism. So Ground News is STUPIDLY conforming to and adhering to this "left vs right" bullshit. Cuntservatives are just one group among many: the most evil of all groups, but still just one group.
#grpundnews is a dope #name for the #game lol
I like what I heard but one big BUT . . . "In fact, we go out of our way to show readers stories they might be missing." Does this mean they are, in fact, monitoring my political bias? There is no way to do this unless they are. Is this a miss-speak? To be completely bias free, they can't be acting on their own statement.

I get the feeling it shows you an article or you look up an article and the algorithm will get you sources that compare to what you looked up. I’m gonna try it soon because the hardest thing about “do your own research” is that there’s so much out there on just one topic. So hopefully this software makes that process easier

@weinteruptth.1479 OK - but isn't that what Google already does? Just as you described? So how can they do that and say, "In fact, we go out of our way to show readers stories they night be missing." To know what I "might be missing," they have to monitor my political bias and then show me the opposite. So they're one-up on Google. Google shows me what I want, and they will show me what I don't want. Which philosophy is probably a good thing for me. No doubt. But non the less, they have to be monitoring me, and the gist of their advertising is 'we're not monitoring you.'
