Definitely the way to go when you wanna be quick about it. Cool tip with the heat!

Great idea for "quick" body reinforcement...but, as you said at the beginning, the 'standard' method is best. Personally, I use drywall tape...and, as for the E6000, Shoe Goo also works extremely well. A 'bonus tip' is like to add is reinforcing areas where tires rub against the body. To prevent tires from rubbing through the protected layer (ie. drywall tape & Shoe Goo), as well as through the paint on the body, I add aluminum HVAC duct tape....but, ONLY to areas where the tires will rub. The first body I applied this to - a custom-painted Baja Rey, done 2yrs ago - still has the same aluminum duct tape, drywall tape, and Shoe Goo.

I used to do shoe goo and drywall tape but that cement board tape that I have in my other video works so much better. It's far stickier and more flexible than regular drywall tape. It really is a game changer. E6000 and shoe goo are pretty much identical and how they function but e6000 in a caulk tube is way cheaper and a lot easier to dispense.
Good idea may try that on one of my body shells. 👍

It's definitely the best easiest method. I still think cement board tape and e6000 is better but this certainly is less messy :-)
Iv have dun this method but i spray clear flex seal over it to give more rigidity and to prevent the tape from peeling back if it ever gets wet and it makes it last longer

Interesting I'll have to try it :-) Thanks for watching!
I’ve used gorilla tape for years but only in problem areas. I try to keep it as light as possible and it works great

Yeah these kinds of things definitely make the body heavier but I've just torn up too many bodies to not fully reinforce them anymore. It just makes them last so much longer
Yessir. This is by far the cheapest way and holds together very well.

Yep I've actually been pretty impressed with how well it works for how cheap and easy it is. Still not nearly as good as fiberglass tape and adhesive but definitely not bad

Dang gorilla tape is soo heavy. That said it does work pretty well. Myself I'll stick with the stink & mess but I can absolutely see why people would want to do tue GT method. Hairdryer is a super hot tip !

Yeah it's definitely the best easy solution. In my opinion not as good as cement board tape and e6000 but pretty good
Ive been using gorilla tape for a while as well. Before i clicked i said i bet it gorilla tape lol. It also works great at deadening sound, that annoying body rattling sound. Great tip about heating. I never tried that. Good thinking

Heating it up really makes a big difference. It helps it conform and it'll stay stuck a lot longer. Thanks for watching :-)
It's been my go to a while now

It's always very tempting when it comes to body reinforcement. The difference between dealing with the mess and the stink and waiting for it to dry versus just slapping some tape on and being done certainly makes it appealing
Can you add a video for the Hoss/Maxx body with the body mounting system?
@DoRC
5 ай бұрын
Probably wouldn't be worthwhile doing a separate video for it but it's basically the same process. Once the adhesive cures you just cut out the holes for the cage and whatnot and then bolt it back together. I usually like to do it when the adhesive is not quite 100% hard so that you can kind of squish it with the cage as you put it back together.

It’s very difficult and hard to get in spots for the body
@DoRC
5 ай бұрын
@krazykrishi Yeah they can be challenging. I'd recommend cutting the tape into thinner strips, using a bit of hot glue in the corners and then using a gift card to spread out the adhesive. Also keep in mind it really doesn't have to be perfect. As long as you do a halfway decent job it'll make it a lot stronger.
2 WD buggy ? Lol what does that tape do when it gets next to a nitro pipe ?
@DoRC
Жыл бұрын
This is a four-wheel drive buggy and the other one was a truggy. I'm not really sure what it would do sitting right next to a hot exhaust. I've never actually used this method on a nitro. I know that the cement board tape and adhesive works pretty well though.
If i add superglue between the tape and body will it be even stronger?
@DoRC
6 ай бұрын
It's possible but I don't think so. The adhesive on the gorilla tape is already very strong and super glue isn't very flexible. I also not sure how the two types of adhesives would interact. Finally the super glue might damage the painted surface.

Dude just clear coat with spray paint should last longer
@DoRC
11 ай бұрын
Unfortunately no. Spray paint has very little if any structural integrity to it and certainly much less than fiberglass composite. I have painted many RC car bodies with quite a few layers and it doesn't improve the strength of them at all
Advice been using duct tape gorilla tape forever and I actually do it and not lazy
@DoRC

Yeah it's definitely a good way to go. In my experience it really doesn't hold a candle to fiberglass tape and adhesive but it's certainly better than not doing it!

No way. I've done several of these but I can definitely do it in around 5 minutes as long as I'm not trying to do too tidy of a job. Maybe 10 minutes if I'm taking my time. That being said the concept is that you learn to do it in 5 minutes cuz that's how about how long the video is :-)
