I'm thinking about buying a clear Analogue Pocket and painting the inside pastel pink. Thanks for this video, I feel confident I can do it now without messing up the shell!

Late comment here but another great way to do it is with poster tac, I use it in model building all the time, its even faster than liquid mask and the end result is even better.

Great tip on painting, Sean man your videos are great. I'm asking all the modders I follow do you know of a jig to drill out the USB C mod hole, I want it to come out clean with a small hole.

That could be a great topic for a video as USB-C is a popular addition to Game Boys now. I’ve had some success heating up a USB-C port and making an indentation, but I’ve found the best way is to really really just take your time. Cut slowly, carefully, and work up the line by filing and sanding. I’ll have a think on it. Thanks :)

I wasn't able to catch what kind of spray paint you used, was it acrylic or something else? Cheers

I'm trying to make my GBC shell match the cart for Pokémon Crystal. I ordered a green glow-in-the-dark replacement shell (it looks bluish in the photo) from Retro Game Repair Shop because it was more transparent than the actual blue one. I figured I could use translucent paint inside to color match. Would putting glitter inside the shell be a waste of time? If not, what could I use to apply and secure it? I would like to avoid painting/coating the exterior if possible, but I also don't want glitter falling around inside. Thank you.

You should look at Mizucat's process. She uses transparent shells (not the glow in the dark ones) and uses glitter spray paint on just the inside. It works really nicely! I think she even made one that looks like the Pokemon Crystal shell. :)

If you want the paint around the whole shell and don't care can you just do that or is there some reason not to do that?

Btw how to paint GBC look like Xbox phantom white controller? maybe it's gonna be awesome....

Well, the goal of this video was to show how you can paint the inside of a clear shell. So I was masking off all the areas on the outside in a way where no paint can get on the outside. :)

daaamn that bezel totally dwarfs the screen >< I couldnt do it personally, but! the paintjob looks fantastic man i dig it

Maybe I missed it but WHY are you masking it? Why not just paint the whole thing?

This technique is only for painting the inside of a clear shell. Many people prefer to paint the inside because the paint won’t rub off. But you can also paint the outside if you want, if you do there’s no need to mask anything, really.

clearly much more tedious and intricate than just masking.
