Thank you for this! My daughter(20)does this move as a figure skater (sit spin - same exact pose but you spin while holding sqat). Since covid19 hit she hasn't been able to skate/train, and sitting around at home, plus a slowly healing ankle injury has her feeling a little rusty/unfit and losing confidence she'll ever be able to get her moves back. I think this will help her greatly to slowly get the muscle strength/balance/movement back in her legs and core to be able to get back what she lost.💕thank you and I enjoy & love your inspiring videos myself (53) who's trying to lose body fat, and increase flexibility.

I have never been bad at paying attention, so when I clicked this vid as a refresher for my pistol training I didn't expect to be distracted by those sleek shoes 😍😍😍. What's the name? Make sure your magnesium status and bio-copper (ceruloplasmin-bound copper) statuses are solid. Search Morley Robbins on YT. If they aren't right, inflammation goes up, calcium can harden the body, and the copper-based enzyme that creates collagen won't do so optimally. Low magnesium is the equivalent of a look at Medusa and ending up with a slow turn to stone. It is basic biochemistry.

If you're having trouble with balance while you are coming down, the closer your chest is to the leg that is planted(foot on the ground) the easier it'll be. If you're falling back obviously you're leaning back to much

From my experience I found the pistol is great for developing balance, stability in the leg and beneficial for parkour. Helping with rail precisions, rail walking, strides, cranes, etc. It can also be a way to add more resistance to bodyweight leg training, However, it's not the best for adding resistance due to the advanced mobility and balance it requires. The elevated version with leg hanging down to the side, as shown in the video, can be a great alternative. Now for many people in fitness, the pistol may be a cool looking move that is not really needed in their training. However, in parkour or or athlete that performs obstacle courses, crane jumps and balance. I think it's a beneficial move or important, at least, for the athlete to have the ability with their balance, mobility, strength to be able to perform a pistol squat.

@@TappBrothers I politely disagree; I think the strength, balance, and proprioception skills are needed for everyone as you get older. It's a prime example of why bodyweight exercises can be better than weight lifting in certain ways
