    Good luck over this period Göran! You've taken absolutely the right and healthy attitude to the necessary adjustments that prioritizing your new and demanding members of your family require. In the long term this will surely make you an even stronger athlete, but more importantly it will guarantee you become a great dad and husband. Your videos continue to inspire. Thank you, and sleep well- if you can!

    I 100% agree, sleep is needed. My wife and I have 4 kids and sleep was hard to come by when the kids were little. It is interesting to see how little you can get and how you can keep going. The human body is an amazing thing that is very resilient. Great video!!!

    Just did an 1/2 ironman. Weekly training hours was around 15-18 hours. Sleep was no problem. At around 22 o’clock i would fall a sleep and i didn’t wake up until 7-8 o’clock. I totally agree; sleep is extremely important. Great video as always😊👍

  • @goranwinblad

    @goranwinblad

    It can be hard to sleep well before a race if you are a bit nervous. But a general thing that have been studied on is that 1-2hours without any screentime before bedtime will help also not eat to close to bed time.

    I find a good routine and consistent timing helps get a good quality sleep, if I go to bed too early I normally don’t get to sleep, but if I can go when I am tired, I get to sleep quickly and have a good sleep. I find 7 1/2 hrs works really well for me. As you get older your sleep requirements may change a bit as well, at least you are more in control of your sleep options when the kids grow up. I remember having to go to work after a very broken nights sleep when my oldest was a baby, it can be really tough.

    Good luck Göran, you will be able to improve again when you can sleep enough when the twins are grown up, in about 23 years from now 🤣 In the meantime, thanks for giving us "normal people" good excuse for not improving enough: we simply cannot afford sleeping enough! :)

    Just got a good 9 hour sleep on Friday then did a long run then I got another good 9hr sleep on Saturday. Definitely means I needed it from the run, and not just catching up from the week! As a side note, I find that high intensity days sometimes lead to difficulty falling asleep. I wonder if there is some sort of adrenaline/sympathetic nervous system related phenomenon there

    I think we should differentiate a bit more between "sleep, spent time in bed/rest". At least I am not sure if a lot of athletes go to bed and fall asleep in 15-25min and sleep 10h. Also napping time has "targets" likes less than 30min; again asking if you really fall asleep after 15min...

  • @billyrodriguez42

    Totally true without sleep we can't do anything well, but the stresses of life and making a living does prevent you having a good nights sleep.

    This is great information! Could I ask, if I’m getting around 6 of sleep every night, would napping 1-2 hours during the day have the same recovery benefits as if I were to sleep 8+ hours at night? My schedule doesn’t allow me to sleep more than 6-7 hours a night sadly. Thanks!

    This is commong knowledge but thats the hardest part of training. Its hardly possible for regular working people to get a high amount of sleep. Adding a family to that and its completely impossible. So its reserved for special life styles or athletes. Not something I can bake into my life.

    Thanks for your concern but making videos are part of my job and income and like most people I can’t afford not working for a year. Also I love my job and try to inspire others so wouldn’t want to quit it either. I’m also happy that working for my self allow me to work less hours and be more with the kids than most who are employed can do. Getting at least 30min of exercise a day is what keeps me productive, happy and healthy so this I will always make time for 😊
