Murder is the worst and most categorically incorrect term you could apply to #10. And why is so much emphasis placed on it being a prank? Anytime you pull a knife on someone to rob them, there's nothing PRANK about that. You are committing a crime plain and simple. Criminal got what he deserved.

He was murdered. By his co-conspirator - this would be a classic case of felony murder by one of the criminals when a death occurs by their acts, accident or self defence or police responses. The person with the gun who fired the bullet did not commit a crime in acting in self defence in apprehension of a threat of death or serious injury.

  • @ramsfan515

The difference between Murder and Manslaughter is intent. If the DA cannot prove a specific intent to kill the victim they will reduce it to manslaughter to avoid needing to meet that burden of proof. Better to get the conviction you can, than to lose on a murder charge and get nothing. The "It was a prank, Bro!" defense adds shadow of doubt to the intent of the actions.

It's kind of amazing how many people just don't realize how friggin' flammable cotton is, ESPECIALLY cotton balls all fluffed out. It's conceivable at some level, the guy in the costume probably should've thought a little better for his handy-craft... NOT to victim blame, here... BUT there is something to be said for the shear hazard of the costume, too... AND without seeing the video, I'm sorry... BUT we don't know if the "Prankster" was legitimately TRYING to light it on fire, or if he was just flicking the lighter at the other guy playfully and got too close... Was everybody (including our guy in the costume) laughing along with the whole gag??? It comes down to us NOT knowing the whole picture here, only what they presented in the vid'... It's still not excusing the act of lighting someone on fire and all the fall-out... BUT that's also the nature of assing around when things go sideways. AND FINALLY... This is just how quickly things can go bad, and how easily one can fail to grasp the serious nature of the situation... Would YOU expect someone to come to YOUR party with a costume that would go up like a roman candle??? ;o)

Exactly if some is armed during your fake prank will still shoot you to protect anyone else involved or just themselves feeling lives are actually in danger. If the only person who knows it's a prank is the prankster can still legally be killed if innocent people who don't know or in anyway realize it's a prank can and will defend themselves if they feel their lives and other people's lives are on some actual real danger. How could they legally be charged with murder if the false weapons and the whole situation seemed totally real, than how could they be committed for murder or anything if it was seriously only done in self defense of themselves and others.

I’m so tired of judges giving light sentences for “pranks”. It’s become a get out of jail free card at this point. • @zanderdubeau

I would say 5 years is a little harsh, but I do agree with what your saying. If a “prank,” or whatever the hell you want to call it, results in the death of another person, or serious harm. Then they should be charged like any normal person getting the same charge. It is honestly kind of upsetting at this point. It’s just basic common sense. If you have more than 2 brain cells to rub together, you would think. “Hmm.. what is going to happen if I pull this prank. Surely pulling a knife on someone couldn’t possibly go wrong.. right?” Edit: (sorry if this reply is a little long and a bit sidetracked)

Sounds like a shit take to me, let me guess you're OK with people drinking alcohol even though it causes more damage to themselves and others due to drunk driving than any social media stunts would ever do. How about TV shouldn't that be banned as it's promoted many stupid ideas that have caused dangerous and deadly situations. Teenagers have been doing stupid and deadly shit long before social media and cameras were around. The reason you think it happens more now is because everyone has a camera in their pocket so it just gets recorded more and unlike 20 years ago we can share those videos with others. Back in your day your only option to share it to millions was to spend a ton of money or send it in to shows like America's funniest home videos.

4th of July prank nearly went real bad for me. I was driving home from work the night before the July 4th holiday in 1986. Some idiots were coming from the other direction on a 2 lane road, throwing lit firecrackers at oncoming cars. The one they threw at me bounced off my arm just before it exploded. If it had hit a few inches forward, it could have been in my lap and 2 or 3 inches back could have wedged between my back and the seat. Parts of the firecracker was in the car and I had spots on my face, neck, and arm where it burned me. My ear rang for a few days and it gave me a headache. I can only imagine what might have happened if it had not hit my arm and bounced out.

Jealous of 9. A hospital broke my spine while I was under sedation in their care. II was sent home that way, and when I was sent to another hospital 2 days later... after that hospital doped me up enough I couldn't resist, sent me back to the first place... where they got me laid down prone, and got full nerv conduction back, so they wanted to keep me like that for 3 days and re-assess. One surgeon came down, decided he wanted to ignore all 9 of them, and do an exploratory surgery. They lost all conduction below the abdomen before they ever got me onto the table. Short version, that doctor cost me the use of my body below the belly button. Permanently. And a jury ruled in his favor, exiting with comments similar to "trust doctors, they might work on us some day." I got Nothing, and have been in Nursing homes ever since... .I was 39 (turned 40 on the day I woke up from his blunder).

In regard to the egg-throwing death, something like that happened in Vermont. About 23 years ago, a carload of teenagers decided it would be fun to throw eggs at random cars. They made a huge mistake. One of the other drivers took it seriously and began chasing the car with the teens in it. Eventually, the vehicle the teens were in went off the road and into a ditch. The pursuing vehicle apparently hit the back of the car after it went off the road. One of the teens in the back seat was killed. The pursuer was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. if he had not hit the back of the car, he never would have been charged with anything. If the teens had not been throwing eggs, they would all have still been alive.

My friend Ian and I used to do this We would drive down the road and soon as a car came then other direction you just lob an egg out the passenger window as they go by. Usually the people hit their wipers and it smears it across the window. We thought it was hilarious. We did this a few times until one of the cars didn’t use their wipers and they flipped around on us and chased us. Literally your story pretty much. We got away but we did about 100mph. Almost wrecked. Never did it again. We were 16. Just kids. Your brain doesn’t develope fully till your what 25? Kids will be kids.

If you have food allergies (or especially if your kids have food allergies), you must, any time you are eating somewhere new or at a friend or family's house, reiterate the allergy. You can never assume the cook remembers the allergy or the restaurant doesn't properly separate that particular allergen from the dish. I have allergies to mushrooms. There are many places I will not eat because I know they use broth containing mushroom powder or make gravy with mushrooms. I am allergic to the spores, so even picking a mushroom off a salad is not going to help (this actually happened to me at a diner - I specifically said "No mushrooms", the server brought it to me with sliced mushrooms all over it. I repeated I was allergic to them. She looked at her order slip and saw I had indeed said I wanted no mushrooms due to an allergy. I told her I needed a whole NEW salad. She takes it away, comes back a few minutes later. I take a few bites and start to feel the tingling in my throat and tongue. As I am reaching for my EpiPen, she comes over to see what all the fuss is. My friends asked her if she put mushrooms on it, she said, "Well I never heard of someone being allergic to mushrooms so I just picked them off and brought it back". I should have sued the place and pressed charges against the server, but I am not that kind of person. Obviously I lived, and I know she did get fired over it... Still, food allergies are nothing to trifle with or ignore. If you have a food allergy (a legit one, not one that just upsets your little tummy) you must always be on guard when eating a new dish or meal prepared by someone you don't know 100% understands your allergy... and NEVER "test" if your friend has an allergy by sneaking in that item. You may just kill them outright.

26:30 - 43:00 I am a 100% Disabled Veteran due to a parachute jump in September of 1980. There were not the number of cameras available then that we have today. I was a newly commissioned second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, attending the Chemical Corps Officer Basic Course at Fort McClellan, Alabama. I was scheduled to go to Ranger School and Airborne School before reporting to my first duty assignment. A fellow lieutenant was an experienced skydiver and was going on a jump in a couple of weeks. I decided to learn to jump before doing so in the Army. I took the five-evening course and went to the small airport they were using on Saturday. We had the Army round parachutes in those days, not the rectangular wings used today. It was not the tandem jump common today where you are strapped to an instructor and you free-fall before the instructor opens the parachute. We were hooked up with a static line that automatically opened the parachute as we left the plane. You needed five static line jumps before you could do a free fall jump and pull your own rip cord. My first jump was fantastic. Slowly floating to Earth with little sound besides the wind. From 3,000 feet, you can see a long way. It was simply serene and peaceful. My second jump was not as good. As I left the small Piper aircraft from the step I was on, the pilot jigged the plane, slamming me into the side of the plane, causing me to spin on my static line. Luckily, I had a full canopy, so I floated down more slowly. Unluckily, I had six twists in my lines, which meant I had no steering control. The only way to recover the twists is to bicycle your feet, which causes your body to rotate, freeing up the twists. I had gotten five of the twists undone and was not paying attention to the ground since I had overshot the bean field landing zone. There really wasn't much I could do to soften the landing except stop bicycling my legs. Because I had no steering, I was at the mercy of the wind, which was sending me toward the large power transmission towers and power lines. With an unexpected jolt, I bicycled into the ground at about 30 knots. I wound up fracturing my L2 and L3 Lumbar vertebrae and damaging my metatarsal and longitudinal arches in both feet. This was the major cause of my eventual medical discharge. I still want to go on one last jump, which will likely be a tandem jump since I still want to experience the thrill of free fall.

Chasing them is not road rage. Chasing them in order to get their tag so they face the consequences of their actions is necessary as far as I'm concerned. If the brats want to continue with their shenanigans by speeding and running a red light as opposed to just stopping and taking accountability, then the accident is 100% on them, not the adults trying to get the tag. Did the kids deserve to die for their actions? Absolutely not. But was it their own actions that caused their deaths? Absolutely.
