Fun fact; there are 3 types of torches that can be used and placed underwater. Cursed Torches, Ichor Torches, and Coral Torches. Coral Torches are especially useful as they can be made in pre-hardmode only using normal torches and coral from the ocean. That would be helpful when trying to light, oh I dunno, an underwater arena?

You can use bubble blocks to make a better lighting source in the arena not because they glow (they dont), but because you can put four bubble blocks and a wall in the center with a torch on it. I recommend blue torches so you can see in the water better. You will also most likely need dynasty walls from the traveling merchant to see smaller and more blue projectiles like the moonlord's. Just place them in the arena. Theres also a block that does the opposite thing as the bubble block and im not sure what you can use it for, but mabye you have something in mind.

The way I did a challenge similar to this was starting out a character with Neptune’s shell and a fishbowl on their head. That way, you “drown” on land but can breathe underwater. The fish transformation only takes effect when you’re considered underwater, and having the fish bowl on doesn’t count as being underwater, so you can’t breathe.
