Try making them some kind of shelter on the float dock for your ducks and the top can keep the owl at bay. Hopefully. Keep it up its all new to them. Great channel, love all your animals.

This is a great idea
We close up our ducks each night in a 6'X8' dog kennel with a tarp fastened on top and plastic mats underneath. We let them have some food in the morning and then turn them out on the lake for the day. Once they are out of the kennel, I hose down the plastic mats to remove the poop and refill water bowls. Then each night we call them in with food and lock them in at night. It took them a few weeks of herding them in with the boat to figure out the routine, but after that I've had success for 7 or so years.
You need more female ducks. Looks like you got two drakes at least, that’s why they are going after the chickens. Drakes are a little, um, amorous this time of year. Muscovy are tree ducks more so than pond ducks.

Great advice. My muscovy kids bathe, but don't swim.

Muscovy ducks won't breed with other breeds of ducks (unlike muscovy drakes), so technically you have 1 duck for 2 drakes. Which isn't enough you need more ducks and then your drakes won't be attacking your hens.
@suicunas4888

Yeah its true mascovys don 't like to swim on a pond whole day long. They use the pond to wash themselves they mostly hang out in the long gras around a pond. And they need more females also because the males are very sexual these time of the year. But keep up the good work you do a great job for the animals. 😁

Was about to comment the same thing. A drake can kill a chicken hen if it mates with her. They don’t have the same anatomy.

I was going to write the same post then saw yours. Totally agree. Same thing happened at our house n we had two couples. They have way too many males to female. Gonna hurt that poor duck Amelia. Three males to one female omg! Poor poor duck. Get more females stat. Like at least 6 for the number of drakes u have maybe more. They will really really hurt her
There's a guy on YT that trained his ducks by saying all ducks go to bed and they go inside...and release the quackens and they come outside...
@jessikaye01

Haha! I've trained my guineas similar by using mealworms from about 1 week old and on. I did a bunch of research before I purchased them and knew that they wouldn't learn to put themselves away at night so I have trained them with mealworms. Idk if that would work here or not...

@White House, great project! I'd also suggest to extend the "ramp" of the platform about a foot under the water, or you can make an extension of the ramp with floating STICKS MADE INTO A RAFT! That way the ducks can mount it on foot, otherwise I don't think they can lift from the water unto it. And, I don't think that the mesh will help them for climbing because their flat feet will only slide on it. Wooden bars across the ramp, like you have on the ramp slide to the chicken coop, might do the trick.
I love that you guys are enjoying the beauty of a pond on the property. I'm sure you've done this already, but please have a long talk and practice with the boys the danger of going down there without adults. We had a great family next door that had a tragedy occur because of such a pond. Sorry to be so serious because it was a great video...

I smiled through most of your post. You’re such a beautiful loving family.
Dolly looks great now. She must love her new home
I love seeing your beautiful aussie running around with your awsome family!
We let our 3 little white ducks in our lake. They left to our neighbor’s dock, and one mated with a Muscovy duck. They’re making babies there under my neighbor’s shed. (We live in the woods but still have neighbors.)
... love ducks... They're ducking amazing :D
They looked so pretty out on the water! So graceful, so peaceful. Before you know it I bet they will love hanging out at the pond and taking a swim when the notion strikes! This reminded me a little of the 80s movie, "On Golden Pond" with Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn. Anyone remember it?
Amelia was floating really low in the water, I wonder if that's bc she hasnt needed to preen her feathers with the oil they use to float since she didnt have water before. Can you keep us updated on if she starts floating higher or if its just because shes a chunky girl lol

My in-laws have a pair of that kind of duck and the male is so big he can not swim! I feel bad for him, he is a swimmer and sits on the sideline and watches all the others swim!!
@ilsehomburg

I definitely think it’s because she had to preen her feathers, my peking duck is twice as chunky and he floats way higher . When one of my ducks was inside with her baby’s for a while she didn’t float anymore either.
@Sunniiiiiiiiii51

i thought i was the only one noticing. Her Feathers also do seem to get quite wet, i would assume it's because she didnt preen her feathers. This could also be dangerous as it makes it way more exhausting for her to swim.

I was wondering about that as well and was concerned for her.

I have read that Muscovies dont have as much oil as other ducks, and arent as waterproof. It would be nice to get Amelia a female friend of the same breed. They talk a different language from the other ducks.
Why is it so relaxing watching ducks swim on the water? As a kid I used to go to the park when I was stressing just to see the ducks. Yall are so very blessed! Love u guys!🤗
THANK YOU!! You have no idea how wholesome this was for me! As night falls and it’s hard to fall asleep THIS right here is what i needed THANK YOU!! ♥️

Squeakers is so happy to be swimming on the pond! Awesome!
I think putting the ducks in the pond was a good idea and during the night whenever any predators try to get them they can just swim into the water for protection!
Awww Ducks will always stay close to “home” The reason why I love them and will put themselves to bed at night if timed right. They will stay out a half hour after chickens going to bed as that’s bug eating time. I love watching them all day in the pond. Such entertainment.
I’m so hype, I would never thought of that idea for ducks
I for sure thought Quackers was a goner!! Pheww!! Glad they all survived the night!! 🌾
You need to build them a small coop. They will feel safer in it at night and predators can still get out to the water You also need to get about 4 more females or they can get over bred. 😊❤
Thank you so much for the duck incubation video you did 2 years ago! Just candeled mine and got a beautiful picture of a duckling!

The grand duck experiment! I know you'll figure out a way. They seemed like they'd found duck heaven at first, but then they got homesick! :)
We love our ducks! Aren’t they fun!
Hello fellow Missourians! We (as in my husband and I) recently decided to embark on a duck raising journey. I just got my duck eggs today (Welsh Harlequins ordered from ebay) and put them in the incubator. I've been binge watching your duck videos and loving every minute. I really appreciate the info you've put out there, and by following your advice, hopefully we'll have ducklings in 28 days! Thanks to you and your family for sharing your adventures. Sincerely, your neighbors in Republic, MO.
So happy to see your animals are doing well! One of my ducks died two days ago!! Her name is Lime!!
I can't stop saying how much I love this family. The vibes I get from your videos are amazing, it's a very nice feeling. You are everything I aspire to be
I think some sort of shelter on top of the dock or a separate coop at the water is a great idea. Amelia really seemed to enjoy being on the dock and seeing everyone bathing and preening was a great sight. I'm excited to see more of the ducks enjoying their pond!
Awww I really enjoyed watching this one.
Those ducks looked and sounded really happy in their pond!

I hope all your ducks stay safe we have 25 they pretty much take over all of our land
He's the happiest baby I ever seen
I just love the way you live your simple life with your family and animals.....👍
I am so pleased that your channel is growing so well. It is much deserved.
What an adventure. I thought they’d love climbing up onto the dock. Who knew?
This was a fun video. Your pond is gorgeous. I would suggest that you put a low cover on your floating dock. Then fence all around it, and put a gate on it. Since you have the little paddle boat you could feed them on the dock and lock them in there at night. I think if you did that for a couple of weeks they would start sleeping on the dock. Maybe not Amelia, since she can fly, and she wants to nest in the nest boxes. I think she’s going to be very hard to get to stay down there for that reason. Maybe you could mount a nest box for a hen her size on a pole in the pond. It would just be a larger version of a Mandarin Duck nest box. Maybe with a substantial perch just below the opening. Now that you have the pond. Maybe you could get a male for her again. Muscovy Ducks are so wonderful and broody. I bet they would raise lots of babies on that magnificent pond for you all.
Awww so fun to watch love em glad you found Quakers.
Thank you for posting this video. I found watching there freedom very serine and calming. Beautiful ducks!
You’re so lucky you have that beautiful pond!!! really nice piece of property.
