    C. B. Fisk is one of the great American organ builders. So nice to hear this demonstration of the different sounds of this organ.

FIsk never ceases to amaze me. Beautiful reeds and clarity of tone on all stops you played. An interesting organ to get to know. Well presented once again. As always Bombardes rule! Your evil grin was nice to see Balint!

This is a really gorgeous pipe organ. I really appreciate how you show off the various colors of the instrument and provide the names of the stops on the screen. I always look forward to each organ you present, with the tours inside the instrument, and your very skillful playing.

I find that I like the french romantic style organ tonal qualities the most, they are just very beautiful. And also the fact that the great is usually the lowest Manuel which it think is intelligent organ design as it is more ergonomically to play.

What a great demo of a really fine instrument! I also particularly liked your modal tonality playing on this one.

Holy $hit. Is the organ that loud in the room. And what a room. There has to be at least 5 seconds. Omg. Typical Fisk excellence. I’ve had the honor of maintaining 3 different Fisk organs over the years. Always quality. I’d love to hear this in the room. It sounds really loud in the recording

Yes. It’s a very small room with very live acoustics.

Really wonderful demonstration and organ, as usual! I was surprised in the section beginning at 20:46 that the Grand Orgue French reeds seem noticeably less powerful than those of the Recit; I would've expected the reverse. Is that normal?

I’m still not convinced that narrower-scale unslotted “Germanic” principal choruses can be structured in a “French” way without ending up sounding oddly frigid, but Fisk does at least provide the option of closed-shallot pedal reeds to underpin it all…. that said, I haven’t heard this instrument in person, and it might just be the effect of the room on the tone.

These prinicpals are very wide-scaled. I think they are much more suited to French repertoire than German

If you consider Fisk and Rosales organs…. Register horizontally for a French sound and vertically for a Germanic sound. The majority of their instruments work this way

Is it just my impression that a Fisk organ kills congregational singing in a church. It may be that a good organist can adapt the instrument to the needs of the communicants.

I've been visiting Fisk occasionally since I was a teenager and they knew I was an incredibly talented pipe organist. However, at one time when I was having "problems" with the Harvard music scene, I call Fisk up and ask them whether they might be interested in hiring me as an intern, and explain that I am an organist, and whoever it was on the phone shut me down with a curt: "we aren't looking for organists, we are looking for carpenters." I was always someone who was very passionate and had contagious enthusiasm for everything. Not a good fit.

This happened at House of Hope Presbyterian Church in St Paul. It was the first Fisk I had ever heard, and it was magnificent. Members of the congregation weren’t as enthusiastic about it. They said it was difficult to integrate the organ into worship and the felt it overwhelmed the choir and the congregation. The old organ was not removed when the Fisk was installed. This was eventually refurbished and used in services. Was it the instrument, or the organist?

@@stevenbergstrom4360 According to the church website, the organ in the chancel is not the old Aeolian-Skinner/Moller/Tellers "mongrel," (which reportedly WAS removed), but rather an 1878 Merklin (French) choir organ, fully restored and installed by Fisk in 1987. Also, several ranks of the old organ were, indeed, reused in the large Fisk gallery organ (I believe in the Pedal). I've heard that the large gallery organ at full bore will "singe the hair on one's neck." Hopefully, the sensitive (and sensible) organist will register the organ accordingly to lead hymns.
