Thank you. I live in UK and my son is 30years old. He has autism and DS. When he was diagnosed with autism age 10 I was told it was very rare to have both conditions. The autism diagnosis made a huge difference at school because a lot of his ‘naughty’ behaviour could be explained and the school adapted to his needs . I am glad things have moved on since then Very informative.

Very interesting info. My brother in law is DS and also type 1 diabetic. My and I are caretakers for him(54) since his father passed away. Strangely, after a couple of months after his dad passed, he now calls me “Daddy” instead of “Mickey”(my name is really Mike. The autism features described here make me wonder if he has a touch of autism as well with what I see in his behaviors.

There is no cause of autism, we still haven't been able to figure it out. Some say genetics, some say environment and some say both.

I have a son with severe autism ,it’s incredibly tough sometimes because he doesn’t understand consequences or follow instructions. Having both conditions must be very hard . I would rather have a child with Down syndrome than autism ,they seem so sweet and able to do alot more than severely autistic 🥲
