The Island of Anglesey was once home to one of history's most mysterious groups: the Druids. Sadly Mick Ashton passed away he made history so visible and relevant and a very interesting subject rather than a dry old subject..
Absolutely loved Time Team one of the best things ever on TV. The last series involved a visit to my small village in Shropshire ….a test pit in my garden produce a 1902 penny, old clay pipes and a shard of Roman pottery.
It seems as though an area experiencing drought just needs to invite Time Team to start digging and rain will come in buckets! Love this show.
Never seen this one. Sad to know that 1 or 2 aren't here anymore. Having bad medical conditions mean I can't do anything like this but watching it makes me feel alive.
Good ole Ian. The man could scrape the thinnest spit of land and then expertly analyze it. Rest in peace old son. Gone but never forgotten.
The hungarian connetion to TimeTeam through victor always fills me with joy, being hungarian myself ,andTimeT eam my favoured show through the twenty years or sogone by. Thankyou Tony, Phil, Mick Stuart and all the others! Turned myself 94 through all the years of watching your great show, amazed by Britains great prehistory. To more great finds with love !
Am American, maiden name Myrick. Have ran my family history 1100s in isle of Anglesey. Have actually papers sent to say who we came from. I have now into seeing Anglesey. This helped me see something that I would never afford to see. Thank you. It's a beautiful place.
I was just recently turned onto this series... WOW. As an American, I love how incredibly rich the history of the UK is and, being a student of history, I find it fascinating. This history is the partial history of my country because of it's U.K. colonial roots and the heritage of many people from my area of New England. It all has a very real linear tracing to much of the world's history as well. I love it and Tony Robinson is an absolute treasure.
I especially love Stewart he is so interesting and experienced...he would make any walk a real education.
The burning of Phil the Wickerman to the great delight of Phil the Human is PRICELESS!!!
To a complete amateur like me,Time Team brought archeology alive for me. I enjoyed TT from the minute it started, so find it all repeated here is marvellous. Wether you had hundreds of finds or just a few, it was always interesting, so in a way a guaranteed success. The Round houses they started to build, we visited in 2014 and saw the completed articles ( we visited the windmill behind them as well ).
Love going back and watching these, we'd watch this in my house religiously when I was a kid. Real nostalgia
I remember watching this as a kid and being thrilled by all the discoveries - but more by the awareness of history, and people far back in time. So glad I can watch it again and that it's just as great as ever.
There is now a new cTime Team that’s done a few digs recently. It’s crowd funded and have several of the old group involved.
I did a dig once in Oklahoma - found a brick. Never so bored in my life. But my uncle gave me an Indian rock hammer head he found while fallowing a field in Montana where I grew up. I have kept it with me for sixty years. Archeology is fascinating touchstone with our roots. God Bless archeologists!
It has just occurred to me that a major reason that I enjoy Time Team is that most episodes occur in villages or middle-of-nowhere places that are not on the itinerary of most American tourists I think. The grasslands with a few hills in the distance in this episode remind me a bit of some places that I have seen on the Great Plains. It's interesting to see how much of the UK is still agricultural.
Victor brought the past to life. Lovely artwork.
A favorite episode...something about the camaraderie and obvious love they all had for each other is on display here.....
I used to scoff at Francis Pryor and his 'ritual landscape' narrative. Then, I retired and had the time to research ancient history, folklore, mythologies and beliefs. He is absolutely correct. Think: animism, pantheism and ancestor 'worship'. Their world was alive with 'spirits' and 'gods' and even their ancestors, whom they often deified and worshipped as gods. A completely different worldview than that of modern man. To us, it would've been an alien world. An alien landscape.
Great series, they're all wonderfully eccentric, couldn't be more British.
