The Dreaming Pen: From Lucid Dreams to Waking Art

Ғылым және технология

Meet Dave Green, a London-based artist who “creates” drawings in his lucid dreams, interacting with and depicting dream characters he meets along the way. From an early age, Dave (no relation to Brian Greene!) was a spontaneous lucid dreamer, employing this gift as a tool to deal with recurring nightmares. Now, as an adult, he’s shifted his focus to lucid dream art, exploring the intersection of imagination, perception, and reality during his nocturnal adventures.
This WSF Short is part of a wider conversation about dreaming featuring physicist and World Science Festival co-founder Brian Greene and researchers Deirdre Barrett, Ken Paller, and Antonio Zadra.

Lucid dreaming is the most underrated skill in the world. You can experience anything you can imagine and it feels like real life. You can even use it to get better at other skills and get rid of nightmares

After my mom died last December 21 I had a series of dreams about her which climaxed to a dream where she showed me the place she was living in now. It looked a very normal place with streets, houses, shops, people etc. She repeated several times to me that this was not a dream Im experiencing. I was totally conscious and knew my mother was not with us anymore and the dream was very stable till it lasted. I don't know if these where lucid dreams or OBEs.

I have had only a hand full of lucid dreams. It all started with the fear of a specific horror movie character that attacks you through dreams. I would have nightmares about him and had trouble being in any room by myself, especially shower and sleep time. One nightmare, the character popped out of a window and I found it hilarious and laughed at him in the dream. He seemed angered and almost humiliated. After that night, all fear was gone and nightmares never returned. I have had several lucid dreams after that, where I realizes I was dreaming and just did what I wanted. Unfortunately, been about 20 years since.

This topic is fascinating! Please consider having author Robert Wagoner on. I "found my hands" in the dream state and realized I was dreaming thanks to his method. Thank's for all of your content!!

I knew all the insane dreams I used to have, the sleep paralysis, the nightmares, the dreams inside dreams, inside dreams I had meant more than "it's just something you didn't notice that went into your subconscious and they're coming out in dreams" or it's something you ate or anxiety.

I’ve always been fascinated with dreams. I think there can be value in thinking about and talking about dream experiences. However, I have mixed feelings about this video. If the guy is legit then that’s great, but Im not not sure how this can be considered science. Unless I’m missing something, it seems to me that that this guy could be just making up whatever he wants. I hope he isn’t, but either way I don’t see how it could be confirmed. I don’t think this video really belongs on a channel like this.

As an oneironaut he seems legit. The things where he writes it down, goes over it in his head and meditates are all real things you can use to influence dreams. Plus his description of dream control is pretty accurate. Lucid dreaming itself has been proven since 1975

Ask Elon Musk to spread out gold flakes or the lightest best cheap alternative across the orbit around the desert section of the earth, so plants don't suffer and then cools the planet… also designing a vacuum cleaner (pun intended) to either blow them back over the desert if the natural physics makes a Saturn like ring or hoover them up if the planet cools too much! PLZ ask your scientist friends…

Put the novelty of this story aside and look at things more clearly, what can we actually observe? The video is entirely devoid of scientific content and the "artist" has no evidence to support his claims. It is in fact possible to train a neural network on the brainwaves of a person looking at an image set then use it to reconstruct images of what they are dreaming to some extent therefore until Dave Green actually does this in a suitably supervised experiment his claims could be entirely false, and are without substance.

Do you have any idea how far the scientific community has come in the last 15-20 yrs, studying consciousness, telepathy, Astral travel, reincarnation, subjects they never took seriously before, not in public anyway. I sd community bc it's Quantum Physicists, biologists, neurologists, engineers, mathematicians... and the military is admitting to the experiments they did and success they had in secret. If you haven't experienced anything you can't explain and don't believe it, why are you watching this?
