Showcasing Lomiri on a phone running Ubuntu Touch and a Laptop running Ubuntu 24.04.
Lomiri, formerly known as Unity 8, is a convergent desktop environment that aims to provide consistent experience across different form factors and input devices. It has been used on mobile devices since a decade ago, hence, it is geared more towards mobile and touch input in its current state. However, the goal has always been to design it for other form factors as well such as desktops. With Ubuntu 24.04, you can now try Lomiri and test it out and perhaps help make it better. It is also available on other distros like Debian and Arch. This is a huge step forward to that ultimate goal of convergence.
UBports Foundation currently maintains and develops Lomiri after Canonical dropped it.

@@sureshkv007 It is mainline on the Pine devices like Pinephone. However, since UT has been developed for Android devices since the start and still is the focus, it's still not working on par on mainline devices. Also, we rely on someone to maintain the Pine ports. Luckily, there are willing people to maintain it 😄 Also, since Lomiri is now in Debian, you can now experience 90% of Ubuntu Touch on mainline devices.
