The Doyle View, build an over the shoulder

You asked how I film, so here is my latest setup. I tried filming many different ways for 4 years always wanting a view like this. With the pressure on and only a few hours before leaving on a 2016 hunt it finally clicked, the result was Tracking in 4K.

Thanks Jeff for sending me this video after I reached out to you. My son and I are creating a channel to share our hunting adventures with all of you. I surely enjoy watching your hunting adventures up in your neck of the woods. We live and hunt in Wisconsin, mostly public land. Truly enjoy being in the woods. God bless.

Jeff, this is GREAT! A lot of hunters don't want to mount a camera on their heads, their bows, or their rifles. You have given them an excellent option, and like all of your regular followers, I have seen how will the setup works when you're actually tracking and shooting deer. Please keep up the great work, Chris (in Maine)

Dad lifes tough bro, baby started needed feeding while I was typing to ya before and couldnt get back to ya LOL. Great job Jeff, that is a unique yet very practical unit. You are correct about head mounts my footage is extremely shaky and horrible LOL. Thanks for the tips on the video.

This is great stuff! I have had so many great encounters over the years and keep feeling like I should be trying to capture these moments without feeling like I need a paramount productions film crew in the woods with me.🤣 I’ve followed your channel for quite some times and have always wondered how you stabilized and captures such cool, over the shoulder angles. Thank you for sharing your pvc invention and the tips of your success. I look forward to trying this next year and hope to share a filmed success story with you this next season. Happy hunting and be safe out there!

Hey Jeff, thanks for this. I have been wanting to steal your set up for awhile but didnt want to be that guy lol. I will likely do something like this for next season. My only question is, what do you do for a battery? I assume an external battery of some sort? Great hunts and videos. See you on the trails. Bill.

I run 3 batteries for several years and that’s all I need for a day. Most days I just use 1 or 2. Recharge them every night.

Great video Jeff! I'm one of the "hundreds of not thousands" that have asked how you mount the tracking camera. I've used a head mount the last couple years and there is way too much head movement for sure. I'm going to try to get a frame pack rig built before season. Have you tried using a 360 cam on your pack? I don't own one yet bet I'm considering it. Thanks for the info and good luck this year brother!

Haha. Ok maybe 1000s is a bit of an exaggeration but glad to share. I have toyed with the 360 idea but haven’t tried yet.

Thanks for sharing! So you are running a GoPro 9. Is that the lowest GoPro you would recommend? I think the 8 maybe has the image stabilization too, correct? Looks like your 9 also has a replaceable battery pack and I assume memory too. Maybe the 8 doesn’t? I run the exo K3 pack as well and love it. I modified the right shoulder strap so it’s not padded and won’t interfere with the shouldering of my rifle. Exo was good for sending me a blemished shoulder strap for almost nothing (just paid shipping)which I just pulled the padding out of. Love it. Thanks again and I greatly look forward to your new videos this fall!

Frame set up is awesome info. But what is your strategy for having the GoPro running at the moment of truth. A. How do you make sure the battery life is good because the GoPro batteries have performed like a total loser for me in cold weather. Hook up an external battery? B. How do you manage the footage? Just carry multiple cards and check you phone to see how much record time you have?

Hey Jack I turn it on when I’m close but only film about 5% of the day. It keeps my editing small. @neil.rice85 on Instagram has shown me a setup with external battery pack so it’s def possible.
