Some great points. Seen a lot of bi and homophobia in my day that really cut, even as a then closeted bi guy and definitely acted as a crutch to hiding my identity. Even now I'm only out sparingly at 34. Transphobia seems to be getting somehow worse in the UK which makes the dating landscape really scary (as if hetero dating isn't sometimes challenging enough!), even being on the privileged (cis) side of it. Being Bi in general is uniquely isolating in ways you touched on really well here. Julia shaws book on bisexuality was really great

I just wanna say when it comes to pro/high level athletes, I love that we say "openly gay" because there have definitely been endless amounts of gay players from the conception of pro-sports leagues. Like its almost fun to imagine how many players were doing DL activities while being publicly upheld as the paragon of masculinity.

Being homosexual and being masculine are NOT mutually exclusive by ANY stretch. You need to truly understand what real homosexual and bisexual men are like. The effeminate ones are closeted TRANSGENDER women.

Nicely done. Depending on your upbringing, it can take a lot of time to come to terms with self-acceptance; furthermore, no one comes out once. Each one of us is going through a journey and discovering what we like and don’t like… who we like and don’t like.. and if you have the awareness, you know that coming out is a continuous process… that allows you to get closer and closer to being who you are. From one black gay man to another, or other lol… you deserve liberty and I hope you find your freedom.

Thanks for talking about this in a way that acknowledges the oppression queer folk face and not trying to give clues to our DL men… But I also agree, in 2023, a grown cisgendered man should have clear tangible reasons for not wanting to be out (ie they know they’ll get fired if they well known or something like that) if they are going to be DL… not some amorphous fear of what “people “ will say

It’s a bottom up problem, not a top down problem (ie when the masses opinions change then so will certain power structures) (*giggles*) bottoms lol 😅

Love this video, re: “Spanish Owned”, just please remember that “Spanish” is in direct reference to Spain, the white European colonizer country. If your intent is to refer to one of the (now referred to as) Latin American countries, I’d encourage specificity, I.e. Mexican/Honduran/Guatemalan etc. However if it’s not worth the effort at that time, you can say Latin American/Latin/Latino/Latina or one of those terms. I’d always encourage specific but situation dictates.🙏🏽 (Leaving this comment as genuine, constructive feedback, but also to contribute to boosting the engagement for your channel)
