A fascinating history and good story-telling! There's a life lesson here, about the dangers of fame and notoriety, versus the wisdom of humility: Rikyu v Hechikan. Although not as ritualised like in Japan, the role of tea in England cannot be understated. It brings people together, provides comfort in distress, welcomes people home after a tough day at work, encourages conversation, and cools hot heads. Thank you for sharing! Arigatou gozaimasu! 🙏

I Love this video so much! I would like to know more about Tea Ceremonies. It’s not something you see in Pittsburgh PA USA. I know from Let’s Ask Shogo’s Channel it gets very involved up to 4 hours to make a Proper Tea Ceremony. I like the TTS voice. She sounds like a kindly old Grandmother who knows all about Japanese History and Cultural Icons such as Geisha and Oiran. I would like to have Tea Ceremony and have the TTS describe to guests all about it!

Four hours is rare, it is for a full chaji which means a full traditional meal plus the tea procedures. Smaller events with just a light meal may last over on hour, common chakai with just tea and a sweet are closer to 20 minutes.

Yeah, just washes the taste right out of your mouth for how he ordered his own nephew to commit suicide, and over 30 of his family members and friends murdered and desecrated - including several children - for no good reason, doesn't it? Hideyoshi was just a great ol' guy.

Try doubling the speed and the narration is comprehensible, most of the time.
