Omg sorry i ended up writing a whole ass para. read if u have the patience to. in essence although you are right, she was not wrong. It's a fact that once you give, in desperate conditions people will not stop asking. How many more people can she help? I've seen enough dramas to realize the nature of humans in desperate times is the worst. although they are pitiful ppl as well, rn jian li just cant afford the wait, the time it will take to help everyone. As said before, the longer she takes in in reaching the capital, the longer and better chance for her enemies to plot against her. This in itself was a plot. the princess and the Li minister usedstories to build her image so it would spread, so ppl would flock to her when desperate, causing her to have no choice but to settle in that county. The difference is that, jiang li CHOSE to stay and help anyways even if it might delay her reaching the capital. However, her line about priorities isn't wrong at all. If this was an even more urgent case, such as lets say transporting a key witness instead of a wrongful convict, the third uncles act of helping out in desperate timems would have lead to delay in reaching the capital for a witness. Magistrate xues case is also very important as its a wrong conviction. The more she delays, the more chance her enemies have in sabotaging her. Her enemies dont want her to reach because the moment she does, it's over for them. But our jiang li is still being kind despite these stakes becasue she realizes that she can still afford to wait a little. Especially considering her father considers his own fate to not be as important as the peoples so she decided to do what her father would have wanted.

The princess is already starting to sweat.
