Daiane dos Santos is one of the greatest gymnastics of all times. Dos Santos 2 is impossible, she is the only one who is able to do Dos Santos 2.

So Aly Raisman was the first one to figure out how to hide the awkward landing by going straight into another skill.

Tbh her jumps out of the Dos santos should get 3 tenths of deduction for body shape but judges never did :'). Leanne's connection > Aly's.

_Exactly_ what I was thinking. She turns the awkward landing into a jump, while Leanne Wong actually lands it nicely and then jumps. Everyone else just can’t land it lol.

Daiane could stick it from time to time. There are quite a few videos available where you can se her perfect landings.

I feel like only a few gymnasts can perform this skill keeping a straight position after the twist. Most of them wobble a little to the sides in the air when the front double pike part comes. Dos Santos and Memmel seem to be the only ones who really mastered this aspect of it.

Memmel does drift off to the side. 4:02 the rest look normal because it’s the side view but she has flawless execution!!!!

repara que a execução da maioria das demais ginastas não tem tanta velocidade de impulso quanto o da Daiane e tambem na caida do salto elas chegam todas tortas perdendo a eficiencia do ''Dos Santos'' teve uma ali que quase foi parar na arquibancada na aterrisagem. Daiane era unica mesmo pessoal nao adianta.

You know how difficulty a skill is when you notice that very very few gymnasts are able to stick it.

O "Dos Santos II" não se popularizou tanto como o "I". Daiane era maravilhosa e faz muita falta na Ginástica.

Sim, porque é dificílimo. Pra se ter uma idéia, o Biles I é um elemento nível G e o Dos Santos II é nível H. Dos Santos II é como o "Pradunova" do solo ! Aparentemente há ginastas treinando-o mas jamais se arriscaram a faze-lo em competição

This is one of the more difficult passes to master. Aly Raisman, Sydney Johnson-Scharpf (Brandy Johnson’s daughter!) and Leanne Wong were my favorites at elite level and Kennedy Baker for collegiate level looks amazing!!!

Poderia fazer esse mesmo tipo de vídeo porém com as ginastas fazendo o duplo twist esticado. Na minha opinião o esticado é mais incrível ainda. Fico imaginando q deve ser bem mais difícil realizar duas voltas no ar com a posição do corpo esticada. Inacreditável mesmo o q a Daiane fazia. Simplesmente a melhor. Realmente uma pena ela não ter ganho um ouro olímpico.

We have tons of amazing arabians double pike from the rest of the world, Lorraine dos Santos, Leticia Costa, Mitchell, Barbosa, Elissa Downie, Ana Luiza, Akhaimova... I mean, we have a training video of Nya Reed (?) but not Tweddle, that performed it for what, 10 years? Sorry, I really feel you only cared to remember of the USA ones in this one.

O impacto na descida é muito grande, um cientista fez o estudo dele com a ajuda da Daiane e o impacto no solo pôde chegar a uma tonelada. Tem vídeo desse estudo no KZread. Se não tiver uma perna muito musculosa pra suportar, o passo ou o saltinho dispersa o impacto. As vezes é proposital, se não esse impacto vai todo pro joelho, que foi o caso da Daiane, acabou fazendo 3 cirurgias. Algumas que conseguem cravar, preferem arriscar a lesão, outras que conseguem já preferem ter um meio de dispersar esse impacto após o salto, e minimizar os riscos.

Yes... Its harder to stick front pikes and layouts than it is a front tuck. They are all blind landings but a pike and layout front are harder to stick due to the straight legs...

Daiane performed better Double arabians piked in other competitions like WC Final Birmingham 2004... WC Stuttgart 2004... WC Rio de Janeiro 2004... WC SP 2005... WC Moscow 2006...WC Ghent 2007.... They could have chosen better ones for this video. 😘

Aly Raisman. Leanne some of The best. Beth Tweddle too only Aly fould connect a stag leap or split out of the double piked Arabian same goes for the Raisman pass the double tucked Arabian to a front layout. Who has ever done that but her? At the very least as good as she did. She was so close to Biles in difficulty. She could've contended for gold against her if only her artistry tenths weren't not rewarded so much Biles always had a tenth or 2 higher just for the choreoography. I wish Raisman and Bilea were in the NCAA too lol they'd kick all their asses no offense I love all these gals lol

Não consigo ver a diferença em nenhum salto, rsrs todas saltam maravilhosamente bem... e também não consigo entender esse "duplo carpado"... teria que ver muito em câmera lenta pra ver o que significa isso.

No caso desse vídeo todas estão fazendo o duplo carpado. Duplo é pq elas giram duas vezes no ar. Já o carpado é a posicão do corpo no qual parece q elas estão sentadas no ar, aonde o troco geralmente faz 90 graus (ou menos) com a perna esticada.

I alway have a hard time understanding why this skill is named after Daiana Dos Santos, when Chelsea Memmel and another gymnast performed this prior to her naming. Or maybe I’m not seeing the differences. Could you show the difference between the Dos Santos and the Dowell? That’s where I find the confusion.

I think it has to be in international competition under the direction of the federation. Daiana used to perform it in 1999. Then in 2003 Daiane was the first to perform in the competition in the USA under the direction of the FIG( She won the Gold medal).

Why? In some she clearly stuck then jump. The jump was giving 0.1 to her.

Raisman gives me a feeling she's about to step out and the jump is just to cover her lack of perfect lading. Daiane lands and stops. I don't know. Love love love love Raisman, mas I don't like when she open her legs after landing. Can you explain me why she got 0.1 for doing this?

I think the leap after the landing is a corny way to conceal the fact that they didn't stick it.

Piked skills not really easy on the eye. Like a wolf turn.

Daiane began gymnastics when she was 12, later than most elite gymnasts and she had a lot of knee problems. And yet it achieved many great results for Brazil. And so... she permormed great Double arabians piked with great landings in many competitions. The video owner who did not know how to choose the videos. You can check it inWC Final Birmingham 2004... WC Stuttgart 2004... WC Rio de Janeiro 2004 (quals)... WC SP 2005... WC Moscow 2006...WC Ghent 2007...and many others. 😘

I hate Diane's landings. She is so impatient and makes it look ugly no matter how good of a position shes in

@@colesmith7509 Daiane is basically a miracle, she started very late different from most gymnasts, she was 11, she didn't have the same technical preparation most have since was a child. And yet she managed to become one of the biggest names in gymnastics
