It’s pretty sad. Bundesliga and the Serie A are prime examples of this Despite preforming just as good they don’t have as much money as LaLiga and the EPL. So if clubs come looking for their superstars, not much they can do but try and convince their players to stay. Even worse? If they end up flopping it’s the player’s fault

At the end of the day Dortmund can do everything they can but if the player themselves want to leave they can’t stop that from happening. At the end of the day there are bigger clubs in Europe than Dortmund. Unlike football of the past ,where players were more loyal, players now have the power and pull to go to any club of their desires once they are good. If the player doesn’t want to stay at the club there’s virtually nothing the club can do. It happens and it sucks. I’ve been a Lyon supporter for years and every year our best players get sold. Even youth academy players. Just a constant cycle

i feel like this is a problem not talked about enough in modern football. teams like dortmund benfica or ajax just can’t compete with the wealthier clubs. their best players always go to the same clubs, either a top 6 side in england or madrid barca bayern or psg
gotta join dortmund now 😂
thats the problem with clubs that dont have endless money they cant break the cycle. leicester city is a great example. they have great recruitment and such amazing recruitment that they won the league yet even they couldn't continue this without endless streams of money coming in, one small or big thing can topple everything that has been built (e.g. Covid for leicester)
@EduardoScobar

But they have being making money for a while. Like they should be capable of surviving and at the same time compite. Like they sell so well they should invest their money well to compite, but they always do it to sell again which honestly is boring. Milan is doing something similar and other clubs as well.
@spinyslasher6586

Leicester's fault was due to an overconfidence in the finances of its owners. They spent a ton of money building a new training ground and signing expensive players, but COVID-19 caused their owners to face massive losses (since the primary business of the owners was in duty-free shops in airports), which in turn caused the club's finances and transfers to grind to a halt. Leicester will come back again for sure after they get promoted.

Rues is a true legend
I'm starting to think that this "Dortmund Cycle" is their Business model actually.
I just watched dortmund moving up to the ucl final and this video popped up
In a few years, Borussia Dortmund will be able to retain their players and win more titles. The history of their success is still relatively young at Dortmund.
Thats just their strategy. Same as Ajax. It just makes it hard to compete against Bayern, but they showed this year that it could be possible.
That’s what happens when you have a business plan and execute it to perfection

I'm a big fan of Dortmund (3rd favorite club) and how they develop young talent. Them, Ajax, Feyendord, Stades, Porto. .. they are great at development. Its a triumph already, having made the finals. They just cant afford to hold talent when bigger clubs call.
But reus showing his loyalty 😢
Dortmund like shit we losing all these players but shit now we rich ass fuck
They've got one of the best business plans in football.
its bad for Dortmund but I applaud every AJAX/ benfica fans cause i swear they have a completley new squad every 2/3 years
Dortmund is nothing but a Scouting Academy for the whole UEFA. 😂
honestly, i wish we can sell karim and donnie for lots of money. they are talented, yet not consistent enough. naming them in one sentence with jude or jadon is a joke, tbh.
Now ucl finalists.
We have to sell them for a big fee before we lose them on a free, because they almost never extend their contract after its up, and some players like Dembele an Auba force a move by their behavior
Dortmund is a youth centre they grow players then sell them Saudi Arabia is the opposite tho they are a retirement home for footballers

Dortmund is just a talent seller.
This Happens to every Club wich is good, but Not in the top class(Like Bayern, Barca, big 6)
Yes, this is true
Your forgetting gio Reyna as well
That's the same for a lot of not so big not so little clubs. Like Monaco, LOSC, OL in L1.
Unfortunately that's also the case in Liga Portugal, with Sporting, Benfica and Porto selling all their best players but then still don't buy good players 😶🇵🇹
If Dortmund didn't sell their best players as much they'd probably be a top 5 club.
Idk why so many players turn down the opportunity to play there... Ive been to plenty of stadiums from different clubs & different leagues but Dortmund is just different & the support is just so insane i dont see how they cant hold onto guys
Adeyemi is one of my favourite players I hope he gets a big transfer where he will play regularly
Dortmund, Benfica, Ajax. Top 3 scouting promising players.
they are the best starter club for future stars like sancho gundoan lewandowski bellingham and pullisic
11 months after this video: ucl final😂
You've just described every club in Europe apart from 4 or 5.
Same can be said for Brighton and Benfica
Same happens with Benfica and Sometimes Porto
Very sad great youngsters
At least we know how to actually develop talent unlike the big euro clubs
It hurts 😢
Same thing was with arsenal Untill 2018
Marco reus watching this happen
All good. I think Kehl is moving away from that strategy a bit and selling players for more than you bought them is the nature of the business. But I do think they’re getting closer to young players playing for 5 years in the BVB shirt as opposed to 3. And instead of 17-19 year old sure things the recruitment seems to be focusing on 20-22 year olds who haven’t quite kicked on 100% yet but have the upside to reach their potential. Im cautiously optimistic that BVB will become a better football team in the near future, albeit not as exciting. I’m ok with that.
Plot twist: them not clinching the title is what keeps the money coming in😅
This man needs to hit K likes and a million subscribers 🫶 he’s just fantastic
If I were a young prospect and I had a choice where to go it would 100% be the dortmound youth program
Sancho is there star now fr
Basically it’s either make a crap load of money on stars for the future or keep them and potentially lose money on having them long term and potentially coming top 4 rather than first. They probably make a good amount of money if young stars that come in for a few seasons people buy their shirts and then when they leave the cycle continues.
Because dortmund doesn't have a lot of money It's impossible to hold these players. Espacially because loyalty isn't a thing for football players anymore
As an Ajax fan, I can also see the cycle here 😭
Who remembers nuri sahin!!
this happens to all clubs that have great scouting, but lack the financil resources to keep up with the elite tams in europe. the good thing about it is that talented players are more likely to sign with such clubs because it is an opportunity to improve, get time on the field and go to an elite club as a future star. if you go to a big club ti early you will just sit on the bench, if you go to a smaller club you're not playing CL and get less attention
At some point clubs like Dortmund, ajad, benefica, etc will have enough money to retain their players. At whiwmch point I think we will see a shift in European football power ⚖️
You forgot to mention that half of them return once they're old. 😂

hummels is a funny case. he was a bayern academy player, got promoted, loaned to dortmund then they signed him, went to bayern, and came back to dortmund.
Dortmund needs to retain players
And one man standup MARCO REUS
It’s almost like good players want to play for top clubs and get paid good money.
If this team is able to hold his talent they could have won Champions league and dominate the world of football, but their main goal is to make profit from their young talents. I am sure they probable have the best scouts out there.
and guerrero too 😢
It's choice of players rather earn more money than staying in the team like Reus. Real loyalty is just shown by a few, like Lahm who always stayed in Munich, given the chance to play with Messi or in Madrid. So pity, if you think a few millions should be already enough money.

Best scouts in the world tho
Lewandowski started that cylce. Instead of keeping good players that don't want a new contract and then letting them go for free they sell them for 60m+ Euros to other clubs and buy 3 more talents for that money who will also be sold for 60m+ Euros. The thing in the Bundesliga is that Bayern have endless money due to their excellent marketing presence, their image and of course Uli Hoeneß. The way Dortmund does it is the only way that any Bundesliga club will eventually catch up to the Bayerns level. They won't be an academy club forever, but it is currently the best way to bridge this gap.

It’s a business model and they’re not the only ones. Crewe, dortmund, Ajax…it’s not unique. Even Chelsea did it by buying up a lot of younger players
their best player now is gio reyna. if he can stay healthy he'll be the next transfer out.
