They were rebels like Billy the Kid that went against the trends and music style of that time
NOTHING LIKE THIS TODAY - THAT WAS THE GREATEST ERA IN MUSIC, FILMS AND SPACE EXPLORATION

Zero space exploration, it's all a Masonic deception. Nixon on the phone to the Moon in 1969? come on many, wake up, the Earth is a closed system, there is nowhere to go. Jim's father was a high ranking Mason, why do you he went to Paris and offed himself? Answer, not drugs, no personal problems, Jim he was sickened by the occult control of the music industry, and it was his only way out.
"Banned forever"...lol. It didn't matter at that point, legend had been sealed.

Never again Ed told him.
The doors on Ed Sullivan were explosive. Light My Fire performance was one for the ages. What a finish!!
The Doors ,One Of The Greatest Rock n Roll Band Of All Time
We had 4 TV channels, of course I saw this on Ed Sullivan on Sunday night, thats what we watched at 8pm Sunday night, God bless Ed for putting the likes of Elvis, The Beatles, Motown groups and the "Lizard King" on prime time. I remember my sisters and mother in the 60's dancing and having fun to this show and Dad growling silently behind his newspaper when anything other than "big bands" were on Ed Sullivan.
They were blackballed from ever coming onto Sullivan again because Jim wasn't supposed to sing the line, "get much higher," on national tv.

Yeah. Jim Morrison was an asshole in a good way. How dare corporate assholes stifle the meaning of the song. What is "higher"? Drugs or mental state. John Denver in the hearings with his wholesome good looks and folk country really screwed Tipper and her bitch Al in the eighties. I remember the seventies when Rocky Mountain High was not played because, " Frinds around the campfire and everybody's high igh igh." I wonder if John Denver just played along to stick it to them about censorship. John Denver really stuck it to them though. Al Gore was a democrat same as his daddy that fought against civil rights. RIP John. Still listening to ya in 2023.

The first and only appearance on Ed Sullivan... because The Lizard King didn't change the... " Girl, we couldn't get much higher " to Girl, we couldn't get much better
Robbie was 19 when he wrote this! Jim had a real crooner’s voice. Check out the long version of this song!

Not long version....Original version...But yes check it out.
Imagine being 17 yrs old sitting with Mom, Dad, and two sisters watching this live. What is sooo cool , all these years later, watching you two, react like you were sitting in my living room that night. So cute, I'm gonna subscribe. Now try 'The Soft Parade', ( but, make sure you're wearing a seat-belt). The Age of 'defiance' had begun! He was Grand Master, of Cool, a PHD in 'badass'.
It's so refreshing to see the younger generation appreciating this music! I was only 11 years old then but this brings me back to the summer of '67 every time. What a time to be alive!
her - “I was already a super Doors fan from listening to their music … A LITTLE BIT” … “super” and “a little bit” in the same sentence! I look forward to more brilliant summations from you.
Jim Morrison, my goodness - lord have mercy - ungodly talent.

And looks.
They were produced so well. They sound so much bigger, like the band is huge, but its just 3 guys with instruments and a singer, amazing really.
@OroborusFMA

Their producer strangled that sound. Too much of a perfectionist. The Door also ran out of material.
This was the best live performance of this song...
So pleased that both of you really dug this. Actually I saw this performance live. Yes, iconic singer and band. Totally agree this song will never be forgotten. My favorite also Moonlight Drive! Love me Two Times and Hello I Love You are great, also more are. Best success on yr channel
It's awesome to see young people digging old people music.
The studio version is much longer with two solos, one organ solo and guitar solo both legendary.

That organ solo is always so crisp love that about the doors
The Doors are considered the unofficial grandfather's of alternative and punk
I Can Play This Song Over & Over That's How Much I Love This Great Classic Song 👍
The Doors were banned from the ED (not Eric) Sullivan Show. What a performance! Great song… great reaction!!! I am going to watch it again now. Nice job!
Elvis's '68 comeback special was the next year and Elvis wore all leather and screamed like that at times, maybe Morrison influenced him too, I wouldn't have thought so till now.
I'm old enough to remember seeing this and other bands on Ed Sullivan. Including Elvis first appearance . There was so little of this at that time on tv that you would look forward to each performance. Ed Sullivan, as square as he was ,was really the only portal for this talent.
Contrast this with Mick Jagger caving into Ed Sullivan's demand that The Rolling Stones change the lyric to "Let's Spend Some Time Together." MJ just rolled his eyes while singing it.
That band will FOREVER be legendary ❤
Jim is the Lizard King! Love the Doors!
Jim Morrison had such a beautiful voice with singing or speaking. I could listen to him every day or night for the rest of my years. 27 years old, what a tragedy!!! ❤
Great reaction! Jim Morrison was definitely an electrifying performer live (which you definitely need to check out more of), but another singer/artist you definitely need to check out is Janis Joplin! From the same time the Doors were around, there was Janis and she left an undeniable mark in the music world during the few short years she was around (in fact, sadly, in the same "27" club with Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, etc) Mainly a rock/blues singer, when she sang she put her whole heart and soul into every performance! She felt every word she sang. To start out, hopefully, you'll check out her live performances of Ball and Chain at the Monterey Pop Festival and Cry Baby and Tell Mama from Festival Express). You won't be disappointed. Thank you!
The single greatest performance in the Eric Sullivan Show Ever 😉
So many songs to choose from. Everyone says roadhouse blues, I say do the unknown soldier , I can't see your face in my mind, love street, moonlight drive, the soft parade, when the music is over. Anything other than what is already on youtube!
It was their 1st time on Ed Sullivan Show and the last time.
Ed Sullivan told him not to say " couldn't get much higher", but he did, and was never invited back.
The chills I got.
I've always loved this performance. The way that Morrison's voice is just clipping the mic levels enough to give it fantastic distortion is perfect. And of course Morrison was the first to create the rock god image.
It just simply doesn't get anymore Legendary than THAT. ❤😊
Funny fact the band was told they will never do the ed Sullivan show again and Morrison told them we just did 😂 so Jim RIP Jim the legend
I remember this back in 70s on a show call the old grey whistle test. Still play it to this day regularly
Got to see the Doors premiere this live in a CBC TV studio in Toronto, I was right there. Jim Morrison was the most gorgeous and sexy shaman with his deep baritone. 1967. The Snake King poet and shaman. We were all blow away. The concert is on KZread here. This was on the stately Ed Sullivan show and got banned.
I grew up watching 60’s rock, absolutely love your reaction to this live performance which I watched on tv at 10 years old!
A true Rockstar with an incredible talent musicians.
I saw it live . The whole country was waiting for it.
You two should check out The Doors Live at The Hollywood Bowl 1968 concert movie. Some say it didn’t capture their best performance but still great and iconic. Fun fact: Harrison Ford (Han Solo from Star Wars) was part of the film crew and helped film the concert.
Fun fact: Before going on the air, The Doors had been asked not to use the word "Higher" because of the drug connotations, but Jim sang it anyway. Backstage, the program director was livid and yelled "You'll never do The Ed Sullivan Show again!" Unfazed, Jim Morrison looked at the guy and said, "Hey, man, we just DID the Ed Sullivan Show..."
He did People are Strange on Sullivan too. Thanks 👍
This presentation changed my life. I was 15 years old and use to listen to Raul Seixas. And by chance I recorded it when it was shown on TV, in 1992. Afterwards I listened to it hundreds of times, I was fascinated by the band's formation, the musicians' suits, Jim's leather outfit, the pink psychedelic background, the timbre of the organ, the combination of the instruments, the organ introduction, the power of Jim's voice, the dynamics of the song and the song itself (I just didn't understand the lyrics because I'm not a native English speaker). So I grew up with this fascination with the Hammond organ, but I had a lot of difficulty buying one, as poor I was. Today as an adult I play keyboards in a rock band and to this day I am still fascinated by this band. Every now and then I compose some songs. And this one clearly has the influence of The Doors style. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZICZzrOwaJvZgNI.html
Great performance, legendary, I missed this today, And a kind of this Ed Sullivan or another highlights in a week, internet destroyed music. Back to the roots.
Jim attacked that last verse....love that "C'MON!" from (I believe) Ray.....nipple hardener!
One artist who referenced this song was Chuck Nolan when he was stranded on that island in the movie "Cast Away" 😂
Not a dry seat in the house!
Yasssssss Charles thanks for bringing THE DOORS here in your channel🥺💓.. Light My Fire will always be iconic👏😊💞
The smile from Robby...
This is probably Jimbo's most calm performance because it's Ed Sullivan..
2:19 makes sense now why there's a wry smile on the guitarist's face. Jim just defied the establishment. He just stuck it to the man.
He was banned Ed Sullivan. Ed told him the change the words "Girl you couldn't take me higher". He sang it anyway.
Notice there is no bass player. That was handled by Ray using his left hand on the keyboard to simulate a bass sound pattern.
greats reactions of both of you saludos from Salta Argentina
Whenever a band has no bass player they are 100% bad ass!
People like him (Morrison) would be popular in any era, I wish I was alive to see him live. I DJ most weekends and I have SO many people that look about your age (early 20's) that request this song and they love it! Sad that he died so young, who knows what else me might have contributed; all the best!
Yes, Jim belongs to that group that we can call the rockstar gods. Not to mention he was quite beautiful. And his band is just amazing.🌅💗🎶
The doors were amazing and Jim what can I say
The extatic power of this song is the extensive organ solo
Can you imagine any current band coming close to this.
This performance is better than what he released! It is sooooo good!
Greatest band ever

Close, I'm of their generation and have always loved them, however The Band is a contender. They are definitely my 2 favorites from that time.
Grandissimo. Ciao Jim. Ciao dall'Italia.
Jim Morrison was told that they could not use the word Higher, and was asked to replace it with Girl, there's nothing I require. But of course Jim went ahead and said higher, the rest is history
YG said "Shut Down is a hip hop song " . I hope you enjoyed the mv teaser
One of the best!❤
If you watch Oliver Stones' film "The Doors", apparently Jim was told NOT to say the work "higher" during the performance as Standards and Practices did not allow references to "being high" on standard TV, I know it's laughable today, but, apparently he said it anyway and was banned from The Ed Sullivan Show.
Thank you ❤
Yes Grasshopper Welcome In
Legend.
Awesome The Doors
Ed Sullivan explicitly told Jim he couldn't say the line "Girl we couldn't get much Higher" because it was an obvious reference to smoking weed. Jim said "Sure Ed!" but on stage he did it anyways! They never played on Ed Sullivan again!!
Try "I Will Never Be Untrue" a warm up song that is so perfectly intense and personal.
This is funny😆! " When he was young "...he was 27 when he died. Sadly, he is forever young.
Great Reaction Guy's
Good reaction! ✌️😎
Every performance they did were legendary, whether good or bad.
They were banned from the 'Ed' Sullivan show after this performance. (Not 'Eric') Ed Sullivan was a big variety show in the '60's and was responsible for putting the Beatles on national TV--- for 3 weeks in a row!
Jim Morrison is a legend weather we like it or not- Peter griffin
My idol
Jim was the coolest dude in the icebox ...
Just scratching the surface of this man....he is all the stereo types and the legend, and then some...
Yeah it was thier 1st and last on Ed Sullivan, lol, they weren’t supposed to say “ get much higher” from censors, course that didn’t work. Was that “ School Boy Crush” I heard in background? You’re warming up now ! You may know but there is an extended version of this that is Fire !
As others mentioned, The Doors were banned by Ed Sullivan from his show after this performance. Because Ed and his staff wanted The Doors edited one line in this classic, "girl, we couldn't get much higher" reference to drug use. Ed and his sponsors of his show felt uncomfortable. Jim and other members of the Doors stated that they changed the line of the song. But they sang this classic with that line. I believed CBS, network running Ed Sullivan's Show gotten complaints from their viewers. Ed was very upset with The Doors. He stated that they will never ever allowed back to his show. But Dick Clark of American Bandstand allowed The Doors sing this classic completely unedited.
Notice how he poses like the statue of David at the end. Robbie on guitar looks a bit like Andy Kaufman to me in this.
That first light my fire 🔥 was 0 to 100 mind blowing 😮
respect guys
Legendary alright.
Hahaha the Best reaction 😁😁😁🎤
Now you have to watch Touch Me on the Smother's Brothers Show
Rip To A Great Singer, Songwriter Jim Morrison, We Still Miss You Always
Iconic live performances, such a cool song. Studio recording has are large instrumental but short version and long play version both AWESOME
Iconic
this is miami before miami.... morrison knew what he was doing. he wanted to blow the top off any new platform he reached. like the song, get higher & screw the haters. he knew he would be a temporary price. but he was in it for the ages.
Glasgow celtic won the European Cup that year (fun fact)
Their first and only appearance on Ed Sullivan because of The Lizard King ✌️🙂 Now that's rock-n-roll !
By far the longest song to ever play on AM Radio (so many stations play this far shortened version, which omits the several minutes long instrumental section which truly "makes" this epic record!). You must play the full 8+ minute version!!!
If anyone can still read, read “Nobody Here Gets Out Alive”. The biography of Jim Morrison. An incredible read.
They didn't have a bass player Ray played the bass lines with his left and his leads with his right.
